Instruction on How to Install RHEL 6.4 Linux Operating System.

RHEL 6.4 Installation Doc

Instruction to Installation RHEL 6.4 Linux operating system.
1. Insert the RHEL 6.4 bootable DVD in the Node and boot node from the cd option, the
installation screen will appear for install or upgrade as show in the below snap shot.



2. Select appropriate option for installation by navigating arrow keys and press enter.


3. Select the Skip to skip the media test as show in the above snap shot.


4. Click Next button as show in the below snap shot.



5. Default English Keyboard layout is Selected, click Next to Navigate to next screen as
show in the below.









6. Default Language will be select as US English, click the Next button as show in the below
snap shot.



7. Select the Storage type as Basic Storage Devices and click the Next button to proceed as
show in the snap shot.







8. Enter the Hostname or can be left default and click Next button as show in the snap.



9. Select the City as Asia/Kolkata, by navigating in the Map or from the drop down menu and
click the Next button as show in the below snap shot.









10. Enter the root password for the system login and click Next button as show below snap
shot.



11. For the Partition select Create Custom Layout and click Next button as show in the
below snap shot.









12. Select Standard partition of Creation Partition section in Create Storage window, click
Create button enter the mount point as /boot , by default file system type would be
ext4. Defined a size as 200 MB and click the OK as show in the below snaps shots.













13. The above steps need to be repeated for the rest of the partition like / with 45000 MB,
/usr -- 90000 MB , /opt -- 45000 MB, /var -- 42000 MB and swap 32000 MB or
64000 MB, as show in the below snap shots.













14. Click the Next button after the creation of the partition, click the write changes to disk,
as show in the below screen shot, disk will be formatted as per the partition created.













15. Click the Next button to proceed to the next step of installation.

16. During the package selection, select the Customize now option on the bottom and click
Next.



17. In the Base System Select the Base, Client management tools, Compatibility libraries,
Console internet tools, Debugging Tools, Hardware monitoring utilities, Large Systems
Performance, Legacy Unix compatibility, Network file system client, Performance tools.







18. In the Servers Section uncheck the Print Server and check Server Platform, System
administration tools.

19. In Web Services Section no package need to be select.



20. Databases Section Select / check the MySQL Database client and MySQL Database server.

21. No Package Selection in the System Management section.



22. No Package Selection for the Virtualization.

23. In Desktops select the Desktop, Desktop Platform and X Windows System package need to
be check for installation.



24. No package is required.

25. In the Development Package select the Additional Development, Development tools, Server
Platform Development and click the Development tools option packages need to be
selected , like cmake , compact-gcc, gcc-objc, gcc-objc++ packages.



26. Click the Next button for the package installation will start, the below screen shots show
the package been installed.








27. After the package installation complete system need to be rebooted before rebooting
remove the RHEL 6.4 DVD from the DVD Drive.
















Post Installation Steps
1. Click the Forward to proceed to Post Installation.

2. Check the Yes to Licence Agreement, and click Forward.



3. Click Forward Software Updates can be skipped.

4. Create User can be skipped by clicking Forward, and yes to skip it.




5. Date and Time need to check if required necessary changes can be done here click Forward.




6. Kdump is option can be skipped Click Finish to complete Post-Installation.

7. Login Screen of RHEL 6.4 will be displayed as show below.



8. Loing with root user account credentials and open a terminal to configure the system with ip
address as show in the following screen shots.










9. Click Ok and check the ip is assigned or not.
