a. MARO
A macro is a shortcut to a task you do repeatedly. Think about the Centre align operation.
You first highlight the word you want centred, then click the centre icon in the toolbar. This is
a macro. It's the short way of performing the centre task.
But you don't hae to do it that way. There is a longer way. You can centre your te!t by
clicking on Format from the menu bar. "hen the menu drops down, click Paragraph. You'll
get a dialogue bo! popping up. Click the down arrow in the Alignment bo!, and then click
on centre. Click OK on the dialogue bo! and your te!t is centred. That's the long way round.
Clicking the centre icon on the toolbar is much easier # it's a ery useful $acro built in to
$icrosoft "ord.
A Macro i$ a ,ay to create a $-ortcut "or a ta$. t-at you *o a lot.
REORD A MARO
%pen $icrosoft "ord by double#clicking your program icon or click &'tart,& then &All
(rograms& and click &$icrosoft "ord& on the menu.
%pen a blank page by clicking the &Blank (age& icon on the &'tandard Toolbar& at
the top of the page.
Click &Tools& on the $enu bar. Choose &$acro& and then &)ecord *ew $acro.& The
&)ecord $acro& bo! opens
Type a name into the &*ame& bo!. Call it something you will remember later
Choose &Toolbars& or &+eyboard& to hae the macro assigned to a toolbar or to the
keyboard as a shortcut
(ick the location where you want to use the macro. You can use &All ,ocuments& or
your current document only.
Click &%+.& The &$acro& icon appears at the top of the page
Type your information into the macro page. You can choose fonts, set up tables or
anything you like. "rite eerything you need to complete the document.
Click &Tools& on the menu bar. Choose &$acro& and then &'top )ecording.& The
