Testing Options for On-Premise Upgrades
Depending on Customer requirements for pre-upgrade testing, the following options are available:

Option 1 - Customer Hosted Testing Environment (Recommended)
A separate dedicated test AirWatch environment is setup on-premise
This environment will be setup with a copy of a backup of the production database to accurately test the
upgrade
Database tools will be provided to ensure that the production devices are unaffected with this setup
Recommendations for the dedicated test environment include:
o Load balancing, firewalls, and proxy setup in test environment to mimic production setup as close as
possible
o Test PKI, directory, and email infrastructure available to test AirWatch environment for accurate testing
o Separate Service Accounts be setup for the Test Environment if applicable (e.g. for LDAP integration)
o Separate APNS Certificate be setup (only applicable for Apple Devices)
Advantages include:
o Accurate testing of the AirWatch database and application upgrade process
o Testing specific to customer infrastructure
o Facilitates deeper testing of existing devices, policies, and custom roles
o Provides timing estimates for estimation of required change window for production upgrade
If a test environment is not currently available, AirWatch can assist in the installation of the environment as part
of the upgrade project. Additional charges may apply, contact AirWatch for more information.

Option 2 - AirWatch Temporary Shared Cloud Test Account
AirWatch will setup a temporary account in a shared test environment
Basic features and functions can be validated
Additional SEG and/or EIS infrastructure may still be required in customer data center for full testing of all use
cases and integration.

Option 3 - AirWatch Temporary Dedicated Cloud Test Environment
A temporary dedicated cloud environment can also be setup if required, as opposed to a shared account.
o Subject to availability and additional fees, contact AirWatch for more details.
o This environment can be setup with a backup of your production database for full testing
o Scripts will be provided to remove any personal information from the database before providing it to
AirWatch.
o Additional SEG and/or EIS infrastructure may still be required in customer data center for full testing of
all use cases and integration.

Option 4 - No Test Environment:
The Customer Production Environment is upgraded without any pre-production upgrade testing
In this case AirWatch highly recommends:
o A well-defined customer test script for covering production workflows
o Well-defined guidelines for rolling back the upgrade, along with a comprehensive roll back plan
