Pre-Questionnaire Graphs

Question 1

Question 2

Question 3

This graph shows how there was an equal
amount of males and females who
completed our survey. This was beneficial
as it meant we were able to receive a
range of results from both genders.
We chose to include a question about
whether people watch short films or not
so that we could find out how popular
they are. We found that 100% of people
watch short films. This was a beneficial
outcome as we were able to gather
responses from people who watch short
films and receive their feedback, rather
than someone who does not watch short
films as they may give false responses.
For question 2 we wanted to find out the
age of the individual taking the
questionnaire. We chose to find this out
as by looking at all of the other question
responses we would be able to decide if
we chose the correct target audience for
our short film. Overall, we found that the
majority of respondents were 15-10 years
old (70%) and a minority were between
31-35 (2) and 21-25 (1).
Question 4

Question 5

Question 6

For this question we asked the respondent
what their favourite genre of film to watch
was so that we could see if we had chosen
a good genre for our short film. Although
some people preferred other genres to a
comedy, most people claimed to mostly
favour comedy films.
For question 5 I chose to ask respondents
if they watch films within the comedy
genre so that our group could further
decide if we had chosen a good genre for
our short film. We found that 100% of
people watched comedy films which made
us feel much more confident with our
chosen genre.
I then asked the respondents how often
they watch comedy films so that I could
further evaluate how popular they are. I
received a range of different responses
where I found that most people watched
them every other month (40%) and only
one person watched one every week.
Question 7

Question 8

Question 9

Another question I asked was What is the
certification of the films you usually watch?.
I decided to ask this as I wanted to find out if
we had chosen an appropriate certification
for our short film. We have given our short
film the certification of a 15. From the
findings, 60% of our respondents said they
watch films with the certification of 18 and
40% of our respondents said they watch
films with a certification of 15. However,
none of our respondents said they watched
12A films. The reason for this could be
because everyone who completed our
questionnaire was 15+ and therefore they
may not enjoy watching films targeted to a
younger audience.
I then wanted to ask respondents about
the synopsis which I had written for our
short film. I asked them if they were able
to clearly understand what our short film
will be about. The findings show how
100% of them were able to understand
what it will be about.
I then asked respondents if they were able
to identify the genre of our short film after
reading the synopsis. I found that 100% of
them were able to determine it. I chose to
ask this as I wanted to find out if our film
concept conformed to the expectations of
a comedy film and if it was comical
enough.
Question 10

Question 11

Question 12

I also wanted to gather opinions about
what certification the respondents
thought our short film should be. Most of
them said the certification of 15 (70%).
The response which we received was
encouraging as we have already chosen
our certification to be 15 and the findings
made us feel much more confident about
our choice.
The next question I chose to ask was
about what film title was most
appropriate for our short film according to
the respondent. I presented 5 different
film title names which we had originally
thought of when we initially began
planning. Two of the title names (Go
Time and First Time) received no
responses and therefore are not displayed
on the graph. Overall, the most popular
film title was Big Boy which is what we
have finally decided to call our short film.
When our group was discussing our idea
we thought about whether we wanted to
use only dialogue, only music or both. Due
to this I chose to include a question asking
others what they prefer when watching a
short film. 80% of respondents said they
preferred short films which incorporate
both dialogue and music which persuaded
us to use both in our film.
Question 13

Question 14

Question 15

Another debate we had when planning
our idea was where we were going to film
our short comedy film. We came to the
decision of filming it inside a house but I
chose to include a question about this so
that we could see if we had chosen a good
location. Overall, 50% of people said a
house is a good place to film a comedy
film. This made us feel us confident about
our choice as half of the respondents
agreed with our decision.
Our group was entirely sure that we were
going to have our lead role played by a
male actor and from our questionnaire we
found that 80% of our respondents agreed
with us.
Finally, I wanted to find out how many
people would be interested in watching
our film once reading the synopsis. 100%
of respondents said Yes which made our
group feel satisfied with our film genre
choice and storyline.
