All praises due to Allah, and May His peace and blessings be upon His Last and Final
Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions.
Shia Encyclopedia has great fame among shia so called internet debaters. hey rely on
this online encyclopedia assuming it to be a great research. But the fact is this !or" is full
of !ea" and fabricated narrations. his a"hree# is a small effort to analy$e the
authenticity of narrations present outside the t!o Sahih.

(. his a"hree# does not include those narrations !hich are in any of the t!o Sahih
Boo"s.
). %ormally !hile describing the *snad * end up !ith the name of Sahabi !ithout
mentioning !hether it is Marfoo+ or Ma!,oof. *n these cases the *snad !ould be
Marfoo+ from Prophet -SA./, e0cept if * made it clear that it is Ma!,oof.
1. *n many cases * do not discuss the narrator in detail. hat is due to the ruling
being so clear regarding him, or it may be that * ha2e discussed it at some other
place.

1. On tracing the source of this report of Abu Huraira which states "Quran and Sunnah,"
we found out that it has NOT been recorded in any of the six authentic Sunni coections
of the traditions !Sihah Sittah". Not ony that, but aso a#$u%hari, a#Nisa&i, and a#
'hahabi and (any others rated this report !Quran and Sunnah" as wea% because of its
wea% )snad.

his narration has come through se2eral chains, from atleast four of the companions.
Ho!e2er, all of them are !ea".
5ecorded in 6Mu7atta *mam Mali"8 !ithout any sanad 9*mam Mali" said& it has reached
us that Prophet 9SA.: said;:. Ho!e2er, *mam *bn Abdul Barr narrates it !ith his sanad
in his Sharh of Mu+atta through t!o companions< Abu Hurairah and =Amr bin A!f, and
he declare it to be preser2e and famous among scholars. 9At'amheed -)>?11(/:
his narration has been narrated through *bn =Abbas, =Amr bin A!f, Abu Hurairah and
Anas bin Mali".
Ibn Abbas: - %arrated through *bn Abbas by *mam Al'Bayha,i in 6Sunan Al'@ubra8
-(A?((>/ and in 6Balaa+il An'%ubu!!ah8 -C?C>D/, Al'Ha"im in 6Al'Mustadra"8 -1(E/,
and Abu Ba"r Al'Aa#uri in 6Ash'Sharee+ah8 -C?)))A/. All of them narrate it through the
route of *sma+eel bin Abi F!ais from his father from ha!r bin Gaid Ad'Bailee from
*"rimah from *bn Abbas. his narration describe the speech of the Prophet -SA./ during
his fare!ell pilgrimage.
Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Abi =Aamir Abu F!ais Al'Madani, the father of *sma+eel bin
Abi F!ais, !as close to !ea"ness. Hahya and Ahmed said he !as !ea" in hadith.
Another time Hahya bin Mu+een said, there is no problem !ith him. *n another narration,
he said& Sadoo,, but not Hu##ah. %asai and *bn Madeeni also considered him !ea". Abu
Ba!ud said& Saleh Al'Hadith. Muslim relied on Abu F!ais in his Sahih. 9Mee$an Al'

*sma+eel bin Abi F!ais !as disagreed upon. he correct ruling on him is that he !as
truthful but made mista"es !hile narrating from his memory. Bu"hari and Muslim
narrated from him in their Sahih. 95efer to al'@ashif -(?)>I/, a,reeb -(?DJ/, Mee$an
-(?)))'))1/ etc:
*n the report of Al'Aa#urri, the father of *bn Abi F!ais narrates from Abdullah bin Abi
Abdullah Al'Basari also along !ith ha!r bin Gaid Ad'Bailee.
Al'Albani declared the sanad in Mustadra" Al'Ha"im from *bn =Abbas to be hasan 96At'
a!assul8 -pg.(J/:, and declared the hadith to be Sahih in 6Sahih Al'Kami+8 -1)1)/. Al'
Ha"im said, 6he command to stic" !ith Sunnah is 4hareeb -odd/ in this speech

Ho!e2er, the meaning of the hadith is true and Lur+an itself testifies for its meaning.
Amr bin A!: - %arrated by *bn Abdul Barr in 6At'amheed8 -)>?11(/ and in 6Kami+
Bayan Al'=*lm8 -(?ICC, )?DID/ through the !ay of @atheer bin Abdullah from his father
from his grand'father;

Ab" H"rairah: - hrough Abu Hurayrah by al'Ba$$aar in his Musnad -EDD1/, Al'Ha"im
in 6Al'Mustadra"8 -(?(I)/, *mam Al'Bayha,i -(A?(>>, Baaru Fi"r/, *bn Abdul Barr in
6At'amheed8 -)>?11(/ and in 6Kami+ Bayan al'=*lm8 -hadith. (EJJ, Baar *bn al'Ka!$i/,
through the route Salih bin Musa At'alhi from Abdul A$i$ bin 5ufai+ from Abu Saleh
from Abu Hurairah.
5egarding Saleh bin Musa, *bn Ha#ar said& He !as matroo".
Anas bin #alik: - Abu Ash'Shay"h Al'Asbahani narrates as a hadith of Anas bin Mali"
in his 6aba,at al'Muhadditheen8 ->?JI/.
*n this, Ha$eed bin Abaan Ar'5a,,ashi narrates from Anas. Ha$eed !as !ea" in hadith, as
said by *bn Mu+een, Ahmed, *bn Sa+d, Baar,utni etc. 9ahdheeb -((?)IA/:
his has also been narrated through =Fr!ah and Musa bin =F,bah in Mursal form.
$rah bin %"bair: - his !as reported by Al'Bayha,i in MAd'Bala7ilM -C?>>I'>>E/
from Fr!ah bin Gubair from Prophet -SA./ as a Mursal tradition. he isnad contains
*bn Lahee7ah !ho !as !ea" in hadeeth.
#"sa bin $&bah: - Al'Bayha,i reports it also as a Mursal report of Musa bin 7F,bah

through Abu Sa+eed at'aimi from 9Abu: habit ma!la Abu Bharr !ho narrates it from
Fmmul Mu+mineen Fmm Salamah 9ra:.
Al'Haithami said, 6%arrated by abarani in Al'A!sat and As'Sagheer. And among its
narrators is Saleh bin Abil As!ad, and he is !ea".8 9Ma#ma+ A$'Ga!aa+id -D?1C/, Baarul
Fi"r Beirut:
Allamah Mu,bil bin Haadi Al'.adi+ee states in his notes on 6Al'Mustadara"8,
commenting on the statement of Al'Ha"im that the sanad is Saheeh and Abu Sa+eed Al'
amimee is Al'=F,aisaa, and is hi,ah -trust!orthy/. He states& And in =arteeb ari"h
ibn Mu+een+ -2ol.), page IAI/ 9*bn Mu+een !as as"ed:, 6Bid Abu Sa+eed Al'F,aisa
heard from AliN He said, =yes+. And he did not state any Karh or a+deel regarding him
-At'amimee/. So from !here Al'Ha"im got that he !as hi,ah Ma+moon. And * did not
find any biography of Abu haabit.8 9Mustadra" !ith notes by Allama Mu,bil, 1?(1C
Baarul Haramain:
5egarding Abu Sa+eed at'ameemi al'F,aisa, *mam Bhahabi records in al'Mee$an
-)?1A/& %asai said, 6He !as not strong8. Baar,utni said, 6Matroo" al'Hadeeth8. As'Sa+di
said, 6He !asn+t trust!orthy8.
Hafi$ *bn Ha#ar further added in Lisan al'Mee$an -)?>11/& %asai said, in the tradition of
*bn =Adi, 6He !as not trust!orthy8. Bu"hari said, 6-Scholars/ spea" against him8. *bn
Mu+een said, 6He !as nothing. He !as !orse than 5asheed al'Hi#ri, Habbah al'=Arni and
Asbagh bin %abatah8. Abu Hatim said, 6He !as Layyin -soft/, and he is more belo2ed to
me than Asbagh bin %abatah8. *bn Hibban included him in hi,aat and al'Ha"im said he
!as hi,ah Ma+moon8.
So there remain t!o problems !ith this tradition of al'Ha"im&

Sa+di, Abu Hatim, ad'Baar,utni. hey !ere opposed by *bn Hibban and al'Haa"im.

is no criticism or praised mentioned regarding him.

-(?)>A/ through Husain bin Ahmed bin Mansur Sa##adah Al'Baghdadi from Abdullah bin
Baahir from Abdullah bin Abdul Luddus from A+amash from Abu *sha, from Hanash bin
Al'Mu+tamir from Abu Bharr.
his is fabricated. Both Abdullah bin Baahir and Abdullah bin Abdul Luddus !ere
unreliable. here is disconnection bet!een Abu *sha, and Hanash. See the a"hree# of
Hadith no.'> 9Hadeeth Safeenah:.
Note: - *n the aticle on Hadith Safinah * said that * could not find any information
regarding Husain bin Ahmad bin Mansur Sa##adah, and no! * found it, !a lillahil hamd.

Shei"h Ali Al'Mutta,i recorded it in M@an$ Al'7FmmalM -((?J()/ attributing it to Al'
Ba!ardi, *bn Shaheen and *bn Mandah, and said that Giyad bin Mutrif, in this sanad, !as
unreliable -!aah/.
Hafi$ *bn Ha#ar states& Mutayyan, al'Ba!ardi, *bn Kareer and *bn Shaheen related it
through the route of Abu *sha, from him -Giyad bin Mutrif/. *bn Mandah said that it is
not authentic. * -*bn Ha#ar/ say& *t contains Hahya bin Ha+la al'Muharibi and he !as
unreliable -.aah/. 9Al'*sabah -)?CEI/:
Al'Albani said& His -*bn Ha#ar+s/ saying 6al'Muharibi8 !as an unintentional mista"e.
5ather he !as 6al'Aslami8 9As it is mention in the *snad of al'Mustadra"; Moin:. 9Adh'
Bha+eefa -ED)/:
he report of Giyad bin Mutrif !as also narrated by At'abrani, al'Ha"im and Abu
%u7aim but it does not contain any mention of progeny or sons of Ali -ra/. Hence At'
abrani narrated it in MAl'@abeerM -C?(D>/, al'Ha"im in 6al'Mustadra"8 ->J>)/ and Abu
%u7aim in Al'Hilyah ->?1>D'1CA/ through the !ay of Hahya bin Ha7la Al'Aslami from
7Ammar bin Garee, from Abu *sha, from Giyad bin Mutrif from Gaid bin Ar,am, and
sometimes he !ould not mention Gaid bin Ar,am;alhadith. Abu %u7aim said, Mhis
report is ghareeb from reports of Abu *sha,. Hahya is alone in narrating it from 7AmmarM.
Al'Haythami 9Al'Ma#ma7 -D?(AE/: said, MAt'abarani narrated it and in it Hahya bin Ha7la
al'Aslami !as !ea"M. *bn Ha#ar also said that he !as !ea", in his At'a,reeb -)?1(D/.

As for Giyad bin Mutrif then it is not established that he !as a Sahabi. his is the only
report !hich made some scholars to include him among Sahaba but this narration is
unreliable, as stated by *bn Ha#ar and *bn Mandah. Bhahabi also said that his
companionship is not pro2en, as ,uoted by al'Albani from him. See, Adh'Bha+eefa -ED)/.
he first part of it is also related by *bn =Asa"ir in ari"h Bamish, ->)?)>)/ through the
ruote of Muhammad bin Abdullah ash'Shaibani going bac" to Kabir al'Ku+fi from Abu
ufail =Aamir bin .aathilah -sahabi/ from Abu Bharr.
*t contains Abul Mufaddhal Muhammad bin Abdullah al'Shaibani, and scholars declared
him liar. @hateeb Baghdadi said& He used to narrate uni,ue traditions and ,uestions from
Shuyu"h, so people !rote from him based on the selection of Baar,utni. hen his lie !as
e0posed and people tore his traditions apart and re#ected his narration. He used to
fabricate traditions for 5afidhah. 9ari"h Baghdad -C?>JJ/:
Ham$a as'Sahmi, al'A$hari and Bhahabi also declared him to be a liar. 9ari"h al'*slam
-E?J)>/, al'Mee$an -1?JAI'JAE/:

his has been related by Abu %u+aim -(?EJ, >?(I>/ through the route of Muhammad bin
Ga"ariyyah al'4halabi from& narrated to us Bishr bin Mihran& %arrated to us Sharee"
from A+amash from Gaid bin .ahb from Hudhaifa.
Abu %u+aim said& Bishr alone narrates it from Sharee".
Sharee" bin Abdullah al'Ladhi !as !ea" due to his bad memory.
5egarding Bishr bin =Abdullah, *bn Abi Hatim said, 6my father abandoned his
narrations8. *bn Hibban listed him among trust!orthy narrators. 9al'Mee$an -(?1)C/:
Muhammad bin Ga"ariyyah al'4hulabi al'Basari !as accused of lying. *bn Hibban listed
him among hi,aat but added, 6his hadith should be !ritten for bac"up !hen narrate
from reliable narrators8. his is ob2iously re#ected. Baar,utni said, 6He used to fabricate
hadith8. Al'Haa"im said in his aree"h, after relating a hadith through al'4halabi, 6*ts
narrators are trust!orthy e0cept for al'4halabi, and he !as the problem -Aafah/ of this
tradition8. Bhahabi also accused him of lying. 9Lisan al'Mee$an -C?(JE/:
*bn al'Ka!$i included this narration in Ma!dhu+aat and affirmed by as'Suyuti in 6al'
Laali8. Shay"h %aasir al'Albani declared it fabricated.

*bn =Asa"ir ->)?)>)/ related another route through Bishr bin Mihran. he problem !ith
the narrators abo2e Bishr is same as pre2ious. Belo! Bishr, it contains Husain bin
*sma+eel al'Mahdi. Hafi$ al'Bhahabi enlisted him in his massi2e ari"h al'*slam -J?I1D/
and said that al'@haleeli mentioned him in 6Mashee"hah Abil Hasan al'Lattaan8, and
*brahim ar'5ammadi and Hudbah heard from him. But he did not mention any criticism
or praise regarding him. Another narrator Ahmad bin Husuf bin @hallaad !as trust!orthy
from the Shuyu"h of Baar,utni and Abu %u+aim. 9ari"h al'*slam -E?(1>/: * could not
find any information regarding Muhammad bin Fmar bin Suleiman. .allahu A+lam

Abul Laasim Abdur'5ahman bin Hasan, the Shay"h of Haa"im, !as unreliable. Laasim
bin Abi Saleh accused him of lying. Saleh bin Ahmad al'Hamdhani said, 6He !as !ea"8.
