Vedanga Jyotisha

The Vedga Jyotia, or Jyotiavedga, (Sanskrit: -


, IPA: [ed joti]) is the earliest
known Indian text on astronomy and astrology (Jyotisha),
dated to 1400-1200 BCE (with the extant form possibly
from 700-600 BCE).

It was redacted by Lagadha (Sanskrit: , IPA:
[ld ]), who was, as per Debiprasad Chattopad-
hyaya

and others,

from Kashmir.
The text is foundational to the Vedanga discipline of Jy-
otisha.
