MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 64- 66; 2 Ti mot hy 2
Monday, October 20
Isa. 63: 7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the
LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward
the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to
the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
Loving Lord and Living Savior:
Can I not do this, especially as we approach Winter? Are there no mercies I
experienced that would let me start this week with a testimony to __________?
Even if I do feel down, can I not remember what you have done with me?
Lord, snap the chains of __________ or some other lost person I know!
Did you not come to set them freefree from sin and death and hell? Give me a
precious milestone along the way by letting me lead them to Christ!
I know some who are sick and need to be restored. I know some who are
poor and have wants to be supplied. I know some who are in dire straits and
need to be delivered. Help them rise up and follow the light you have already
given, and let it lead them to their souls salvation in Jesus Christ.
I myself was helped in time of need. So give me the words to be a witness
of Christ and a witness to his cross, and also a testimony of your lovingkindness.
My lost relatives and friends need to know how much you love them, and maybe
if I can lift-up choice mercies from yesterday they will be emboldened to trust
their heart to Jesus Christ today.
It may seem dark now, but help me turn on the spotlights this week that
will be like a lighthouse to tell others about your mercy. I want to bling through
the blackness by shining-out your praises!
2 Cor. 9: 15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
Now help me offer it to others in Jesus place. Amen.
TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE
Chronological Bible Reading: Jeremi ah 1- 3; 2 Ti mot hy 3
Tuesday, October 21
Luke 24: 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts
arise in your hearts?
Loving Lord and Friend:
You care for everything, and even the smallest animals share your
providence. Help __________ and __________ see the special care you have for
them. May the Holy Spirit even make them feel like you are pursuing them.
Isa. 40: 27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from
the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
Yet that is exactly what they think and say! Help them see instead that
Ps a. 34: 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and
delivereth them.
Help them to seeeven this weekthat while Jesus died for all men and
women, he is only the Savior of those that place their trust in his sacrifice for
their sin. Then and only then do they become the object of your special care.
Turn the thought of your special love for them into a spiritual pain-killer,
because you are offering them as much as you offered any saint in the Bible.
Ge n. 15: 1 Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
I lose much sweet consolation if I read your promises as only for the past,
or only for the church as a whole. I have to swallow the prescription directly for
myself, and teach others to do that as well. I need to grip your word for myself in
application, and grip it for others in prayer; believing you will fulfill everything
I appropriate by faith and apply by duty.
These concepts are the sweet consolation of Christ. They belong to me as
your child, and they are offered to every man and woman who will come asking
for them by faith. Let me forget others and just worship you, Jesus. Amen.
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Jeremi ah 4- 6; 2 Ti mot hy 4
Wednesday, October 22
Ps a. 104: 16 The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he
hath planted;
Life-Giving Savior:
Without sap a tree cannot exist, much less flourish. In the same way, inner
vitality is essential to my life. There has to be revivala living principle infused
into me by your Spirit, or else I cannot be one of the trees of the LORD.
Just wearing the name Christian still leaves me dead. I need to be filled
with your divine Spirit to transcend from mere existence into real life.
Revival is mysterious. I dont understand the circulation of the sap, or
what force makes it rise against gravity from the root to the leaf. In the same way,
the flow of your life within me is a great mystery. Somehow in revival, the Holy
Spirit enters into me, becoming my life! This life, once initiated feeds-off the
Lord Jesus, and is sustained by the food of your word.
Revival starts in secret. The roots go deep, searching through the soil of
the earth. I cannot see how they suck, and transfer the minerals into the fruit. It is
a work curiously wrought way down deep in the dark. My root is Jesus. My true
life is hid in him.
Revival is permanently active. It is always full of energynot always in
fruit-bearing, but at least in inward operation. My graces go in motion. I am not
always working for you, but I am always living on you. The sap then manifests
itself by producing foliage, if not fruit.
Give me revival that your grace may be externally manifested through me.
If I talk with you, then I will talk about you. Make the sap flow in revival, and
people will notice from observation that I have been with Jesus. Infuse me with
your Spirit so fully it fills my conduct and conversation with life! Amen.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Jeremi ah 7- 9; Ti t us 1
Thursday, October 23
Josh. 24: 7 And when they cried unto the Lord, he put darkness between you and the
Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I
have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
A BLESSING for youwill you take it? Choose ye today;
A word from the heartwill you speak it? Choose ye today:
Will you believe, or your Savior neglect?
Will you receive, or His mercy reject?
Pause, ere you answer, oh, pause and reflectchoose ye today.

The cross of your Lordwill you bear it? Choose ye today:
Theres life in that crosswill you share it? Choose ye today:
Soon will your time of probation be oer,
Then will the Spirit entreat you no more,
Jesus no longer will stand at the doorChoose ye today.

The bondage of sinwill you break it? Choose ye today:
The water of lifewill you take it? Choose ye today.
Come to the arms that are open for you,
Hide in the wounds that by faith you may view;
Death ere the morrow your steps may pursuechoose ye today.

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Jeremi ah 10- 12; Ti t us 2
Friday, October 24
2 Cor. 4: 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might
through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
Glorious God and Maker:
Our body is sluggish. We have been too busy with the world. Yet there is
power in praise to make heavy limbs light, to reanimate the drowsy eye, and to
awaken the weary brain. Help us put ourselves in tune, like Davids harp of old.
Fatigue makes cowards of us all. Our flesh is so connected to our spirit that it
often bows-down our soul. Help us rise up to live-out your Eternal Purpose.
Neh. 8: 10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet,
and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord:
neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
In these terrorizing times we have seen so many heroes, both abroad on the
battlefield and here at home. We give honor to those who are brave and
courageous, but shall not Jesus also have our due reverence? Make your
triumphal entry into our hearts this week, for we desire to give your name glory
by overflowing your praise. If no other hearts should ever serve you, ours should!
Ps a. 149: 2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful
in their King.
To redound is to overflow on. You are our God and must be exalted.
Depression weakens us. Doubts destroy our strength. Sitting in the ashes makes
us earthy, but we want to be heavenly. Praise is pleasant to you and profitable to
us. We grow in grace when we grow in joy. Give us joy and peace in believing.
If murmuring were a commandment, some saints would never sin! If
depression were a duty, they would surely be saved by works. Instead you tell us
that joy is our strength, and it will be the strength to live out your mission. Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Jeremi ah 13- 15; Ti t us 3
Saturday, October 25
Ps a. 94: 14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his
inheritance.
High Lord and Mighty Father:
Why do the wicked prosper? I am perplexed at the prosperity of the
ungodly compared with the pressure I feel in my own life. But there is, after all, a
high King of heaven, by whom everything will be made right. You have but to
show yourself Lord, in order to make your cause triumph.
You prove your care for me by a thousand acts of grace. So how dare my
ungodly haters think you will not notice the wrongs they do to me? I need not
complain to you Lord, nor argue with men and women. Let me tune my heart to
softer melodies, because my faith perceives it is well with my soul, even when I
am most afflicted. Even when I do not feel blessed, even while I am being
corrected by you, I am still precious in your sight. You have never, ever given one
of your sheep to the wolves, and you will not make me the first.
Ps a. 94: 18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
Without your help I would have been gone long ago. There are times when
nothing can help me at all but mercy. I can make no appeal to having merit,
because my inbred sin makes me ready to slip at any moment. But your mercy
endures forever, and is always on hand to rescue me at a moments notice.
This has been true for me ten thousand times over, especially this fall. The
danger was imminent; it was right-up on me; I was going down; I was shocked at
the thought. In my fear, I concluded it was all over, but then came your mighty
interventionheld up by an unseen hand! Satans plans were frustrated. Let me
sing for joy. Faithful Keeper, I exalt you alone! When I am tossed with
distractions, questions, and frustrations, help me hurry to you. Amen.

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.

2) TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

3) TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS
! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)
! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

PRAYER DIARY

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS
" PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
