CONVERSATION
Verses 7-12 where have you come from? Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." The devil is constantly observing and watching everything that's going on. Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? And the devil said that he had, and that God had always protected Job. God had put a hedge about him. "I can't touch him. If you would remove your hedge, he would curse you to your face." And God said, "Well, you have my permission to do whatever you want, physically with his stuff, with his things. "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. CRISIS
One day Job is resting in his hammock under a shade tree and in the distance he sees a runner coming fast. Verses 14-19 Runner 1 comes up breathlessly and says, "Job, it's terrible! All of your oxen are dead! Your donkeys are all gone! They're gone. Hundreds of your servants are dead! Terrible attack! Runner 2 comes up. "Lightning just struck over here this way, and all of your sheep are destroyed! All of your servants are dead! Lightning struck! Runner 3 comes from this direction. And he says, "In enemy soldiers have vandalized your camels. All your barns are gone. All of your servants are killed." Brigands attack! Runner 4 He said, Its horrible, Job. Youre not going to believe this. A monster tornado struck. It struck the building where all of your children were, and they are all dead. Tornado struck! Job had a crisis. All he owned was swept away. It was all gone. And now faces the greatest challenge of his entire life. Job lost his
o Properties and servants o His sons and daughters o Job was boiled but not cooked! REACTION
Verses 20-22 at this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. Worshiped God! Praise the name of the Lord.
o Job continues to believe that God loves him. Job 2:6, the devil is given permission to touch his physical life. Because the devil said, "Well, You know I took all of his things away but he's still faithful to you. If you allow me to cause a little pain in his own body I know that he would desert you." So God said, "Well, don't take his life. Go ahead." He afflicted Job with painful sores Verse 9 "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!" She said, curse God and die Verse 10 He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" In all this, Job did not sin in what he said. Job continued his loyalty to God. He worshiped God! I believe the secret to Job's success is that he did not regard anything he owned as his. Was Job right? Yes, he was. God owns everything. In Psalm 50:10 God says: ..."for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills." REWARD
Job 42:10 after Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. 160,400,000 x 2 = 320,800,000
By continuing to trust in God
By being faithful to God
By maintaining his allegiance with God
o Job was rewarded twice as much as he had.
o But there is an eternal reward that all of us must look up to.
Revelation 2:10 "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." Brethren let us be faithful to Jesus.
