Winemakers Notes

Each vintage the winemakers select the best

Chardonnay to carry the Eileen Hardy label. By
taking a selection of cool climate regions where only
the best parcels of fruit are selected, hand picked,
naturally fermented and placed in high quality
French oak, the hallmarks of this outstanding wine
are formed.
The 2008 release is crafted from grapes sourced
from the cool climate regions of the Yarra Valley and
Tasmania.
The 2008 was characterised by very dry conditions
and generally warm temperatures. The result is a
Chardonnay with great flavour expression and good
retention of natural acidity.
Grapes were hand harvested and whole bunch
pressed before being filled directly into high quality
French oak barriques for natural barrel
fermentation. An average of 40% underwent
malolactic fermentation until the acid balance and
texture were in harmony. The wine was then allowed
to mature for 9 months in order to build texture.
The 2008 Eileen Hardy is a Chardonnay that sets the
style trend exemplifying cool climate Chardonnay at
its very best.
