Application: The white wash shall be applied with brushes to the specified number of coats. The
operation of each coat shall consist of a stroke of the brush given from the top downwards,
another from the bottom upwards over the first stroke and similarly one stroke horizontally from
the right and another from the left before it dries. Each coat shall be allowed to dry before
next coat is applied. Splashing and droppings if any shall be removed by the contractor at his own
cost and the surfaces cleaned.
Measurements: The area shall be measured in sq. metres correct to two places of decimal. The
deductions shall be as specified in IS: 1200.

Rate: The rate shall include the cost of all materials and labour involved in all the operations
described above.

PAINTING WITH ANTI CORROSIVE BITUMASTIC PAINT

Ready mixed paint conforming to IS: 158 shall be of approved brand and manufacturer. It shall be
black, lead free, acid-alkali-heat-water resistant.

Preparation of surface: All rust and scaling shall be carefully removed by scraping or by brushing
with steel wire brushes. All dust and dirt shall be carefully and thoroughly wiped away.

Application: The painting shall be laid on evenly and smoothly by means of crossing and laying
off, the later in one direction. The crossing and laying off consists of covering the area over with
paint, brushing, the surface hard for the first time over and then brushing alternatively in
opposite direction, two or three times, and then finally brushing lightly in a direction at right
angles to the same. No brush marks shall be seen. The full process of crossing and laying shall
constitute one coat. Where so stipulated, painting shall be done by spraying. The number of coats
to be applied shall be as specified. The painted surface shall present a uniform appearance.

Measurement: The area shall be measured in sq. metres correct to two places of decimal. The
deductions shall be as specified in IS: 1200. The coefficients stipulated in PAINTING shall be
applied to the mass measured flat and not girthed for wood work joinery, steel work doors and
windows etc.
Rate: The rate shall include the cost of all labour and materials involved in all the operations
enlisted above.

ROOFING/ CLADDING KLIPPON SHEETS:

1 Material:
Cold Rolled Steel : Conforming to ASTM A 446 having yield stress of
275 Mpa
Thickness (TCT) : 0.50 mm for roofing and 0.50 mm for cladding
2 Coating
Hot dip metallic coating : AZ 150 (Aluminium zinc alloy comprising of 55%
aluminium, 43.5 % zinc & 1.5 % silicon) as per
ASTM A 792
Coating mass : 150 Gm/ Sqm (total of both sides) as determined
by triple spot tests.

3 Fastening/ Laying/ Fixing
methods

4 Flashing/ Capping/ Specials : The flashing, capping and trims shall be
manufactured from the same materials as the
roof sheets and in standard lengths and fixed as
per manufacturers recommendations and
specifications.

LAYING OF ASBESTOS CEMENT SHEETS:

Scope:
Supply and fixing of un reinforced corrugated and Trafford asbestos cement sheets as coverings for
roofs and walls. Provision of rafters, purlins etc are not covered under the item.

Materials:

Asbestos sheets shall be as per IS 459. Fixing accessories like J bolts, L bolts, roof washers etc
shall conform to IS 730. The accessories shall be plastic coated.

Laying of sheets:

Sheets shall be cut to size with wood saw. The holes in the sheets shall be drilled suitably. The
holes for fixing shall be 2 mm larger than the dia of fixing bolts and shall always be drilled through
the crown of corrugation and not in the valleys. No hole shall be nearer than 40 mm to any edge
of sheet or an accessory.

The sheets shall be laid with smooth side upwards. Bitumen washers shall be used for fixing the
sheets in order to avoid leakage of water.

Measurement: The measurement shall be as per IS 1200 (Part IX).

25 Enamel Paint:

25.1 The enamel paint shall conform to IS:2933. It shall be approved brand, colour and manufacturer.
All the drums containing the paint/thinner/primer shall also be received at site as originally
sealed by the company and opened only in the presence of the Engineer-in-Charge. Empty drums
shall not be removed from the site without the permission of the Engineer-in-Charge till the
completion of the works.

26 Plastic Emulsion Paint:

26.1 The plastic emulsion paint shall conform to IS:5411 (Part-I). It shall be of approved brand, colour
and manufacturer. The plastic emulsion paint is not suitable for application on external, wood
and iron surface and surfaces which are liable to heavy condensation. These paints are to be used
on internal surfaces except wood and steel. All the drums containing the paint/thinner/primer
shall also be received at site as originally sealed by the company and opened only in the presence
of the Engineer-in-Charge. Empty drums shall not be removed from the site without the
permission of the Engineer-in-Charge till the completion of the works.

27 Aluminium Paint:

27.1 The Aluminium paint shall conform to IS:2339. It shall be of approved brand and manufacturer.
The paint comes in compact dual container with the paste and medium separately. The two shall
be mixed together to proper consistency before use. All the drums containing the
paint/thinner/primer shall also be received at site as originally sealed by the company and opened
only in the presence of the Engineer-in-Charge. Empty drums shall not be removed from the site
without the permission of the Engineer-in-Charge till the completion of the works.

28 Anti Corrosive Bitumastic Paint:

28.1 The anti corrosive bitumastic ready mixed paint shall conform to IS:158. It shall be of approved
brand and manufacturer. It shall be black, lead free, acid-alkali-heat-water resistant. All the
drums containing the paint/thinner/primer shall also be received at site as originally sealed by the
company and opened only in the presence of the Engineer-in-Charge. Empty drums shall not be
removed from the site without the permission of the Engineer-in-Charge till the completion of the
works.

29 CLIP ON GALVALUME SHEETS FOR ROOFING.

1 Material:
Cold Rolled Steel : Conforming to ASTM A 446 having yield stress of 275 Mpa

3 Fastening/ Laying/ Fixing
methods
The klippon sheets are to be fastened to roof purlins with
fixing and donot require any fastening holes through steel
sheets. The fixing clips are to be used to fasten steel
claddings.
The clips for fastening klippon steel sheet require only two
fasteners per clip and provide an easy positive engagement
in the ribs of the profile.
Two fasteners are inserted only through the two punched
holes. Four dimples are also provided in the clip but these
are for auxiliary fasteners only. The fasteners used to fix
clips shall be wafer head self drilling zinc coated fasteners
of size no 12-24 X 32 mm
The clip has a short return leg and long return leg. The clip
must be positioned with the short leg engaging over the
male rib of the under lapping sheet.
4 Flashing/ Capping/
Specials
: The flashing, capping and trims shall be manufactured from
the same materials as the roof sheets and in standard
lengths of 2.5 m. These are to be fixed with No 10-16X 16
mm Hot dip zinc coated self tapping screws. The width shall
be up to 1000 mm as per site requirements.


ALUMINIUM DOORS, WINDOWS & VENTILATORS :

30.1 Materials:

30.1.1 Aluminium alloy used in the manufacture of doors, windows and ventilators shall conform to IS
Designation HE 9-WP of IS:733. The sectional properties of extruded sections shall be as given on
IS:733. The sections shall be uniform in appearance, free of die lines and landing marks.

30.2 Hardware:

30.2.1 Screw threads of machine screws used in the manufacture of Aluminium doors, windows and
ventilators shall conform to the requirements of IS:4218.
