Thematic Approach of Clinic Case

Abstract
The author presents a clinical case that serves to illustrate the application of non- traditional techniques for approaching
cases. This method of Alfonso Masi Elizalde, represents a wider scope of possible strategies in order to individualize not
merel each and ever patient, but homeopathic practice itself.

Physical Examination
Eot significant.
The patient?s stor emphasizes the following aspects1 *e-cess of calcium+; fear of contagion; an-iet about health,
desiring to read medical boo,s, needing to ,now everthing. This group of themes and smptoms immediatel brought
to mindCalcarea carbonica. A second group of themes and smptoms was composed of ,nowledge; light; universal
loveFbrotherhood, suggested Phosphorus.
Masi Elizalde explains that the dynamic nature o Calcarea phosphoricais a con!iction that one is
the carrier of good news and has the duty to communicate it to others. The Calc #hos theme seemed to
appl in this case, to the e-tent that the patient reported being the carrier of a ,nowledge that should save the world.
Also, his mission was to disseminate it to the public as widel as possible, for which purpose he had even re9ected his
famil. The conviction of possessing ,nowledge and having to disseminate it was a constant in his life, manifested before
his philosophical-religious conversion / through teaching and literar activit.2
%e was prescribed Calcarea phosphorica C%()) in a single dose.
E!olution
The effect of the prescribed dose was an immediate improvement of his chief complaint, the buzz, demonstrated b a
decrease in intensitF frequenc of this smptom and its having no more interference in his dail life.
$imilarl, a deeper improvement was perceived in his emotional relations. %e perceived that love was not onl universal,
but also involved the love of famil. %e resumed his relationship with his wife and children.
Gust one dose of Calc #hos was prescribed in Ma ())H. The patient continues with good progress until toda.
Discussion
The approach used in this case seems to contradict all standards of good homeopathic practice, both %ahnemannian
and <entian. %owever, homeopath is b definition, the medicine of the individual, and demands the most absolute
individualization of each case /%ahnemann, &II81 J '(2.
The individual circumstances of this case K obsessive presence of repeated elements K guides us to choose an approach
that prioritizes, precisel, the special elements in this case.. A standard repertorial analsis did not confirm the remedies
suggested b the te-tual analsis /Calcarea carbonica, Phosphorus and Calcarea phosphorica2. :n fact, the chosen
remed appeared in the IH
th
position in the repertorization.
The Repertorasation chart is missing here
The prescription of Calcarea phosphorica was suggested b appling the methodolog of Masi Elizalde. :t is useful to
highlight that the remed not onl led to improvement of the chief complaint, but managed a deeper change in the
e-istential dnamic of the patient. :t allowed him to ob9ectif the content of *Eoumenon+ from Elizalde?s terminolog,
that is, seeing the world no longer distorted b a *psoric spot+ in his imagination.
#rofessor Elizalde insisted that all theoretical elaborations about *medicals theses+ should pass the test of e-perience.
That is, the prescription of a remed based on understanding of its deep matter, must induce movement of significant
improvement in all transcendental areas K phsical, pschological and e-istential. Lrom that point of view, this case
serves to confirm the thesis of the prescription and to remind us that intellectuall elaborated ideas must alwas go
through the sieve of real application.
The proposed e-ample suggests that there are strategies for wor,ing cases that are appropriate to the particular
characteristics of each case. $tandard methodolog for the analsis of cases, at present, is the result of a long process of
construction, begun in the %ahnemann?s time. %owever, inclusion of new ,inds of understanding, such as linguistics,
and new instruments of technological application, such as programs and digital libraries, allow us an unprecedented
fle-ibilit in choice of strategies.
