Instruction on cooler operation

Writeup On SF Cooler Operation

1.Cooler cross bar speed can be set between 4 to 21 SPM. If you select low cross bar speed(if
te !ode is !anual" # try to increase air flow in te particular co!part!ents. Increased air flow
will !a$e sure tat te ydraulic oil pressure of te correspondin% cross bar to be less. &'en after
increasin% te air flow# if te ydraulic oil pressure is not co!in% down# Increase cross bar speed.
If dri'e ydraulic oil pressure is not !onitored# it !ay lead to cross bars trippin%.
2. (ydraulic dri'e oil pressure alar! li!it is 1)* +ar , -rippin% li!it is 2.* +ar.
.. /ll co!part!ent pressures can be !aintained abo'e .* !+ar # e0cept CIS (fi0ed inlet"
co!part!ent pressure . /t no!inal clin$er production# all co!part!ent pressures will be 1* 2 34
!+ar , cross bar speeds can be $ept as ) 2 14 SPM.
4.Wene'er CIS or !o'able cross bar te!perature crosses 1** 5e% C# try to increase air flow in
tat particular area.
4.If CIS co!part!ent pressure is %radually increasin% for te a particular air flow , fi0ed %rate
speeds # ten do !anual airblaster blastin% continuously till co!part!ent pressure beco!es
nor!al.
1.Wene'er $iln feed is increased# te followin% can be done in se6uence.
a.Increase all cooler fans flow . Confir! te co!part!ent pressures are increased
b.Increase cross bar speeds %radually. Monitor dri'e ydraulic pressures.
3./t no!inal clin$er production # for te closed loop operation between dri'e .II speed 7s %rate

4) 2 14 !+ar.

).9pto 28. rd of cross bar speed# select suttle !ode. Once speed crosses tis li!it# always
select syncronous !ode. For a new start of cooler at lesser speeds # say# : 3 SPM# select
rando! !ode.
;.Mini!u! air flow ratio can be set at *.1 (ie" 1*< of no!inal air flow before startin% $iln feed.
Confir! all co!part!ent pressures oter tan CIS are at a !ini!u! of 2* !+ar (== alar!"
before startin% cross bar dri'es.

Startup procedure
/. Start te clin$er transport.
+. Start te dust con'eyin% syste! suc as te dra% cain below te cooler e0cess air filter.
C. Start te clin$er cruser.
5. Start te cooler e0cess air fan# and ad@ust te ne%ati'e pressure in te $iln ood to about 0.5
mbar and set te PI(5"Are%ulator in auto!atic !ode. Note! It is desirable to place te cooler
e0cess air fan in auto!atic !ode as early into te preeat !ode as possible. Once te
e0cess air fan auto!atically controls te $iln ood draft# it is easy to brin% any re!ainin%
underA%rate fans on line.
&. Start te re!ainin% coolin% fans.
F. If te $iln ood pressure re%ulation is not tuned satisfactory# return te controller to !anual.
B. Start te %rate dri'es and let te! re!ain in continuous operation.
Stopping sequence
The stop sequence during a controlled kiln stop is;
- When the kiln stops, STO the cooler dri!es.
- Follow te nor!al $iln stop procedure. /s soon as te I5Afan stops ten te airflow to te
cooler is auto!atically reduced by 4*< of te no!inal coolin% air le'el. Maintain
sufficient air to all te 9BCs to $eep te /5Ps and cross bars cool# and to pre'ent fallA
trou% of !aterial into te 9BCs.

If te kiln stop lasts for more than a da", te coolin% fans are stopped# wen te clin$er as
been cooled off.
For short duration kiln stop# it is reco!!ended to stop te cooler dri'es and @o% te dri'es
periodically to !aintain te bed dept in te cooler. Supply only enou% air to cool te /5Ps and
cross bars as well as to pre'ent fallAtrou%.
-is will effecti'ely $eep te eat in te syste!# and result in a sorter duration before te $iln
can return to full capacity.

The cooler does not need to be emptied 1or material unless this is necessar" in order to
carr" out repairs. 0or repair 2orks, it is onl" necessar" to empt" out material in local
areas.
