Its purpose is to develop deeper understanding of the human personality in the context of global and national development such that in the process, ones appreciation for his/her cultural heritage is enhanced. Course Goals 1. What is the value of art in mans life? 2. How is art related to society? 3. How does the language of art facilitate critical appreciation and enhance cultural breadth and human experience? Learning Outcomes A. Cognitive Define Humanities Discuss the value and functions of art in mans life Distinguish the different art forms and their respective qualities (elements and principles) Determine the distinctive qualities of art works and interpret accordingly B. Psychomotor Use language of the arts in discussion / appreciation of art works Experiment on familiar mediums of art React critically to artistic events/development in the community C. Affective Express understanding and appreciation of the different arts in relation to their socio- historical milieu Manifest understanding of cultural differences in the critical appreciation of art works Demonstrate love of country through literacy of Philippine Art.

Grading System Assessment and Evaluation Traditional Assessment Rubrics Portfolio Grading Written Exams 35% Project/Portfolio 25% Oral Presentation 15% Attendance, participation 10% Others (papers, quizzes) 15% Total 100% Course Policies A student with 20% absences of the total number of hours would automatically be dropped from the course Non-compliance of any of the requirements would mean an incomplete grade Failure to accomplish any of the course requirements would mean an incomplete grade.
