Hello, what I am going to pitch to you today is an experimental film series currently called

Lexicon. The term lexicon is often associated with language and is synonymous with dictionaries as
well as encyclopaedic knowledge.
To this end; I aim to create a series of twelve films, split up into three distinct parts, each consisting
of four films. This approach allows me to fully realise each idea, theme and concept within an
isolated film, rather than smothering my audience with too many ideas at once. Additionally, this
should allow me to not only screen my films to a seated audience but also craft the proect as a
whole into a type of film installation.
!ith a "exicon of secret, forbidden knowledge as the maor theme or concept for this work, I do
not simply want to create a series of abstract films which pose experimental ideas or styles but also
incorporate a great deal of philosophical, religious and occultist views based around the idea of a
lost tome having been uncovered. I#ll return to this point in a moment, but first, let me break down
each of the three sections of this proect.
$ection %ne& Primordial Forces
As the first part of my series, I want to focus on abstract film manipulation work, primarily. 'y aim
at this point is to establish a force or power that exists outside of time, something only really hinted
at in ancient lore and which, even to this day is a mystery.
$ection Two& The Age of Nocturne
'oving into this section I want to continue to make use of abstract imagery but also begin to
experiment with camera based film work, in a way portraying the deni(ens of a shadowy cult and
beginning to craft a time and place for which the tome has been written. Think the twelve apostles
of )hrist and how they were the authors of the *ew Testament.
$ection Three& The Transhuman Mindscape
!hat is the next stage of human evolution+ The mind is a vast uncon,uered frontier which in
reality, we know very little about. The four films which shall round off this proect will look more
into the individual ourney and spirituality of certain characters, the timeless lives of omnipotent
beings which pulsate and float above our level of consciousness, a nether realm which is both seen
and unseen. Here I would like to explore concepts similar to that of #Thus $poke -arathustra# as well
as the Tibetan book of the dead and Titian#s #Three ages of 'an#.
A maor influence on this proect is the Triptych 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' by .osch
which is broken into three panels, each detailing a stages of human existence, from the untouched
lower world to that of a hellish afterlife. "ooking closely at this painting gives great insight into an
early surrealist piece of work, centuries before the $urrealist 'anifesto. It will be a great inspiration
for me during the course of this proect.
A Triptych, which is split into three panels, can be compared to my intention of having three distinct
parks to my series, the number three playing a heavy role in this work as it has throughout history,
in religion, philosophy and the natural balance of life.
/oing back to this 'tome' I spoke of earlier, I aim to create an actual book, an organic process,
developed on a film by film basis, which will give more insight into the concepts portrayed on
screen, also acting as a compendium for my research and creative development throughout this
year. $imilar to a strange book known as the 'odex !eraphinianus' I would like to create my own
cryptic code, based on %ld Tamil and Arcadian languages, I would like to create an book which is
riddled with mystery and intrigue, allowing my audience to break the code in order to gain a deeper
insight in the film series.
0ue to the organic nature of this proect, I welcome the idea of working with collaborators, rather
than setting down roles, I feel it would be best to allow anybody with an idea to contribute in a way
that best suits their skillset. To this end, you guys may want to work with on only on the twelve
films or on several but with differing roles in each. I am open to this idea so do not hesitate to
approach me with your own views and concepts for this proect.
