A Disease To Be Very

Careful Of
There is one disease out there that is carried by rodents mainly mice. And it is deadly.
We are talking about the hantavirus. It first surfaced during the Korea war where soldiers
were dying of this mysterious illness. If you got it you were usually dead in 2 to 3 days.
The kill rate was over 5!. It again surfaced in the "ew #e$ico desert in %&&' and
young healthy (eo(le started dying. It lingered on for a more few years and is still
around waiting for the weather to be )ust right for a mouse (lague.
The Indian (eo(les who live in the southern desert regions of the *+A have a saying,
-If a mouse walks over your bedding burn it and if a mouse moves into your house you
move out.. They had been (lagued by the disease for generations, but for modern man it
was a new disease.
/ater in the %&&s it surfaced again and this time in Argentina. This strain of the
hantavirus had evolved into human to human transmission via contact, but like before it
was there then it )ust vanished. And the researches never found out which rodent was the
carrier. In "ew #e$ico it was the deer mouse but that strain only transmitted the virus
from rodent to human. It had not evolved into human to human transmission. If it ever
evolves into human to human transmission via the air, modern civili0ation will colla(se.
#odern man has nothing that will sto( it.
"ow it seems this disease has (lagued mankind before. A mysterious disease called
the sweating sickness attacked Tudor 1ngland starting in the %'2s then it vanished in
the %55s and has never returned so far. The sym(toms were very similar to hantavirus
sym(toms.
Also when the +(anish con3uistadors came to the "ew World they nearly wi(ed out
the local Indians. It is estimated &! of the Indians were killed by 4uns, 4erms and
+teel as 4erard 5iamond called it in a book by the same name. "ow historians are
saying it is most likely the disease was a local disease because in the +(anish te$ts
written at the time of the con3uest they did not name the disease. If it was a disease they
knew about they would have named it. 6ut they did not name the disease so the
historians assume they did not know the disease.
It was a disease of the "ew World and it was deadly. It wi(ed out the Indians and the
missionaries who looked after them. It is estimated it killed %7 out of every 2 so when
it was over there weren8t many Indians left. 9or this high kill rate it would most likely
have been human to human transmission. :r there would need to have been an
Australian ty(e mouse (lague but there was no mention of a mouse (lague in the te$ts.
The Indians were slaves so there living conditions were (ossibly not very hygienic and
they would have been crowded together in their living 3uarters. #aking human to
human transmission very (ossible and easy. The +(anish con3uistadors would have been
living in very different conditions therefore they were not effected. 6ut the missionaries
who looked after the Indians were and some died from the disease. This is in contrast to
Tudor 1ngland where a number of the elite of society succumbed to the disease
including ;enry The 1ights older brother who was su((osed to be king.
Also it might have (aid a (art in why the "ative Indians left the desert areas. :ne of
the une$(lained migrations from early America is why did the Indian (eo(le (ack u(
and leave their beautiful cities in the southern desert areas of the *+A. I would add my
little theory and that is< there was a mice (lague leaving the Indians with two choices =
stay and die or leave so they left.
The archaeological record shows that they had what looks like the ritual burning of
their homes meaning they weren8t coming back. I would say the ritual burning had more
to do with the mice having moved in so it was time to move out and on. The local
Indians would have been aware of the connections between the mice and the disease and
they would have reali0ed that to survive they would have to leave. Actually it is a
mystery where they went no one seems to know. Knowing about the mice and kee(ing
out of their way has been (assed down from generation to generation. It is (ossible to
have started in anti3uity so the saga of mice and men continues to this very day.
What ha((ens to your body after you get the hantavirus is 3uite terrible. The virus
goes into the linings of your lungs and sits there. Then your body8s defense system kicks
in so in destroying the virus your body actually destroys the lining on your lungs and
blood and fluids flow into your lungs. :ne of the systems is shortness of breath that is
because your lungs are filling u( with blood and fluid, and two days later you are either
dead or you are getting over it. Also it seems you are not immune because it is your
body8s defense system that kills you. What they call friendly fire in war 0ones. +o if you
get the virus again your body8s defense kicks in and away you go again.
If somebody invents an easy way of draining your lungs you might live long enough
to get over the disease. If this disease mutates into airborne transmission we are looking
at one of the 9our ;orsemen of the A(ocaly(se.
I>m not a doctor or medical man but I was thinking after reading about what to do if
you have a (unctured lung. With a (unctured lung you lay the (erson on the same side as
the (unctured lung and they can breath through the to( lung while the (unctured lung
fills u( with blood. Then you call the ambulance. As long as we have ambulances that
system works )ust fine. When we have no ambulances I don>t know what to do. "ow
with the hantavirus you could lay the (erson on their side and elevate the (erson so the
head is lower than the rest of the body. /ike raise the bed or wooden board that they are
lying on say 3 to '5 degrees and ho(efully the lungs can drain while they breathe out of
the to( lung. I don>t know if this will hel( kee( you alive but nothing else is going too so
why not try it.
Another disease that has been ke(t under control by vaccines is ?olio but as soon as
society falls a(art this disease could raise its ugly head. And if there is an e(idemic in
your area 5: ":T eat anything that will s(ike your blood sugar. If you kee( your blood
sugar levels normal you should be okay. The easiest way to do this is to only eat meat
and green vegetables. #ost colored vegetables contain sugar or are carbohydrate and
will turn to sugar in your body. 4rains will do the same things so foods like bread and
rice are out as well as (otatoes, corn and tomatoes. If in doubt don8t eat it until the
e(idemic has (assed. ?olio is a terrible disease. When I was in @hina I saw (eo(le who
have had (olio. After you survive that disease you are (retty messed u(. :ne guy was an
1nglish teacher, he s(oke (erfect 1nglish but both his legs were messed u(. :ne leg was
com(letely withered and he got around using a crutch and his other leg, which had also
been affected. ;e was a nice guy and a good teacher des(ite his disability. Aou do not
want to get that disease and if you do you (robably do not want to survive. +o be careful
what you eat if (olio is in the air.
Also the 6lack 5eath will once again terrori0e the known world. If international
trans(ort has broken down then it will stay locali0ed but if not it will travel. The 6lack
5eath is still with us but antibiotics will cure it, if caught early. Also our cities are a lot
cleaner with (ro(er sanitation and clean water. The sewage system gets rid of our
human waste and the rubbish collection system gets rid of rubbish. After the electricity
goes off clean water and the sewage system will fail. Also society will break down and
there will be rubbish everywhere. And when there is rubbish and sewage everywhere the
rats will return. The ideal situation for the (lague to surface and when it does ;ell will
return. The average death rate is 5! and the fleas can 3uite easily )um( from one
(erson to another.
