Visitors can buy or pick fruit, pick up baked goods, and take orchard tours and hayhdes. The Cincinnati Enquirer/ MICHAEL SNYDER MORE INFO Address: 1640 Stubbs Mill Road By Walt Schaefer The Cincinnati Enquirer The Irons family bought the 200- acre farm in the early 1900s, said Dave Irons, son of owners Gayle and Ron Irons. It was first a dairy farm and remained so into the early 1960s when the family decided to convert to a fruit farm and began planting orchards. The old dairy cow milking area was converted to a bakery as the fruit farm business expanded and began luring family visitors from throughout the Tristate, Mr. Irons said. Early on, the fruit farm brought in many families who picked fruit or bought it in large quantities to can or jar and preserve through the cold months. "We used to get people who would take hundreds of pounds at a time," Mr. Irons said. Nowadays, few families can or jar fruits or vegetables and the farm has become an "agri-tainment" business a place for families to spend a day picking or buying fruits, visiting the bakery, taking a hayrlde through the orchards, finding a Halloween pumpkin or tackling the corn maze. The farm even offers educational tours to schools. Back to Great Neighborhoods: Lebanon Founded: Early 1900s Quotes: "I come every year, just once a year, for pumpkins, the hayrlde, gourds. We buy apple fritters and apple cider and just to look around. It's a family outing one of our favorite annual trips." - Scott Galster, Mason. "We come here in the fall. From September to November we'll visit maybe eight times. We buy cider and cider donuts. Their pies are great. We pick apples. Our whole family does it.
