Water Sampling Guide

Never use a metal cane for collecting water sample.

For all water samples, water samples must be collected preserved and
transported in a sealed bottles, and not subjected to direct sun light while
transportation.
For collection of samples for Dissolved gas analysis, a bottle must be filled to
the end, don't leave any air gab in the bottle, keep the sample in a temperature
lower than sampling temperature (keep in ice bo! and analy"e the sample as
soon as possible.
For collection of samples for oil content in water , samples must collected in a
glass bottle , the bottle must not filled to the top (a suitable air gab must left! ,
further more acidification of sample is preferred (# ml $%& per liter of
sample!.
For collection of samples for suspended solid analysis, ('((, particle si"e
analysis! preservation of samples with citric acid must be done (# gm)l
sample!.
For collection of sample for heavy metal analysis, collect in a glass or plastic
bottle* acidify with Nitric acid (# ml $N+
,
per liter of sample!.
For collecting of water sample for microbiological analysis the sampling type
depends on the re-uired analysis .
a! For aerobic bacterial count sample must be collected in a sterile container, for
disposable container use a new one for non disposable on sterile in an
autoclave before use.
b! (amples may be collected in a (terile Disposable syringe (at least /0 ml!
c! 1f a sterile container is not available on site use a new non used bottle of
mineral water , pour the content of it immediately before collecting the sample
then store the sample in it , leave a suitable air gab in it , keep it cooled up till
analysis.
d! For collecting sample for analysis of anaerobic bacteria a suitable sterili"ed
container (or even a sterile syringe! must be filled to the end without leaving
any air gab.
e! For collecting samples for (23 analysis, samples must be collected in a well
sealed container* addition of oygen scavenger may be preferred.
