Phi Sigma Pi General Meeting Minutes (February 23rd, 2014)

Called to order by Brandon Tran, Parliamentarian, at 8:06 pm.

I. Officer Reports

Alexis Dennis (President):
AICR Event: Brothers need to be more engaged within the event; please make sure that
we are socializing with all Brothers and not segregating by Chapter
Nominations: rolling basis; nominations will be called and seconded by Brothers; need to
accept by next meeting if nominated tonight
Signature sheet: please reach out to the Initiates and ensure that you are signing their
signature sheets if you feel they have gotten to know you well

Reminder to submit reimbursement forms as needed, and must include receipt
Stephanie Otoo (Initiate Advisor):
Scholarship event: tomorrow evening in the HUB 379
Social planned for March 10th: the HUB will not let us screen The Lion King; looking to
move off campus and have movie night at a Brothers house
Service event planned for this weekend: instead of Stater Bros, we are going to help out
at a senior community
Brandon Tran (Parliamentarian):
Policies for nominations: during open floor when call for nominations is made, need to
raise hand and nominate one Brother for a position. The nomination must then be
seconded to be recorded.

II. Committee Reports

Elizabeth Azubuike (Service Chair):
Service event will be March 8th
Need to complete registration packet prior to the event
MUST wear close-toed shoes when volunteering
Kara Wendel (Social Chair):
Hosting social with Phi Alpha Delta on March 6th
Working on ideas with other social chairs; thinking about an interactive sports night

III. Open Floor

Andrew Avila (Host Coordinator for Phi Sigma Pi Regional Conference):
Registration packet due NO LATER than Wednesday (2/26)
Money is due this evening ($40.00); payment plan can be discussed with Andrew if
needed
Housing: need to sign up on the Google Doc and list the people you are staying with for
the weekend
Registration table: located at the Marriott; Brothers need to go to the hotel and register
that Friday night
Events will be held on campus, except for the banquet (Aroma in Upland) and the
service event

Discussion to move midvote and reveal
Motion: Move to move midvote to the weekend prior to the Big/Little event

Going to expand search for places to host spring retreat due to unavailability with UCRs
Big Bear Lake Cabin for the quarter

New fundraising event is a taping in LA; all members and alumni invited on the
Facebook page
Need 15 people minimum to get tickets and credit for the event
