CLOSING REMARKS: AYALA CERMONIAL TURN OVER OF SARISARI
STORE PACKAGES AND PEDICABS
June 28, 2014 1:00 PM (City Hall Grounds)
Maupay nga kulop ha iyo nga tanan. First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Ayala Foundation, to President Luli Heras de Leon for being here today. We Taclobanons have been very fortunate to have friends like Ayala Foundation who have come to our aid at this very difficult and challenging time and provided livelihood assistance such as these sarisari store packages and pedicabs which will definitely help the displaced families and those who really need it the most. We in the City Government of Tacloban and thru the Comprehensive Livelihood Committee are looking for ways that when we give livelihood assistance its not a simple dole out. We know for a fact that if we just stop at just a simple dole out of giving pedicabs, if someone in the family gets sick, there is a high probability that the pedicab will be pawned or worse sold then wala na naman source of income yung pamilya. These things are included in formulating our livelihood programs. So katulad today with our partnership with Ayala, we included that each recipicient will also receive a Philhealth card, plus the provision in the project that each recipient must allocate a portion of his income for SSS contribution. What if the pedicab driver himself gets sick, paano na ang source of income ng pamilya? Babalik ba tayo sa possibility na mabenta yung pedicab? So we made sure that the spouse must be enrolled in any of the Cristinas Learn and Earn Program so she could have alternative livelihood which could also help augment the income of the family. But the Learn and Earn Program does not only cater to the spouses, for those young men and women that are interested to get vocational education but do not have the funds to enroll, we are working our best to finally launch our partnership with the TESDA for hard skills training courses. To Ayala Foundation, In behalf of our City and its people - the Taclobanons, we would like to thank you for the invaluable support and assistance given to us in our time of need. To my fellow Taclobanons, please know that the City Government of Tacloban remains dedicated and committed to ensuring that the welfare of the people and the best interests of the City are promoted and protected. Maupay nga Patron ha iyo ngatanan!
