a) Calculate the minimum wavelength x-ray that can be produced when a target is
struck by an electron that has been accelerated through a potential difference of

b) What current is required in the windings of a long solenoid that has 1 000 turns
uniformly distributed over a length of 0.400 m in order to produce a magnetic field of
magnitude 1.00 * 10~* T at the center of the solenoid?

c) Determine
(i) the electric field strength at a point 1.00 cm to the left of the middle charge
shown in Figure 4.
(ii) the magnitude and direction of the force on it, if a charge of -2.00 uC is
placed at this point, the magnitude and direction of the force on it?

(iii) the current in the wire if a potential difference of 9.0 V is applied across the
length of the wire. Given the wire is a 34.5-m length of copper wire at 20.0C
has a radius of 0.25 mm.
(iv) The current in the wire if the wire is heated to 30.0C while the 9.0-V potential
difference is maintained.

a) A conductor suspended by two flexible wires as shown in Figure 5 has a mass per
