where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

The Eagles received an opportunity to share our format across the country when we received a request for
informaton from a UMW member from Newport News, VA. She was seeking informaton in hopes to start
an online circle in her church. Afer joining our circle to get the feel of the format and procedure, she suc-
cessfully launched a new online circle in her unit, which is growing and successful.
Since our face-to-face meetng in June, we have added two members locally Rebekah Hart and Susan
Crigler. Although most of our members work during the day, some are available for hands-on projects during
the week. We will partcipate in working at the Wardrobe in October. We contnue to share together in our
weekly devotons and ofer prayer and encouragement to one another.
Gibson Circles mission project for August was col-
lectng school supplies for
the 22 chil- dren living at
Coyote Hill and it was a great
success! Our contributon
of supplies and cash for this
project totaled $624.25.
The following was on Coyote Hills facebook page.
School starts tomorrow, so today we pass out all
the wonderfully donated items to the kids! Our 4-yr
old defnitely picked the best backpack!

Afer a summer break, Searcy-Feely met on Wednesday Sep-
tember 17, 2014. Thirteen members gathered at the United
Methodist Conference Center here in Columbia for a business
meetng, work project and lunch. We counted, bundled and
boxed over 9,900 rice recipes to be distributed through the
Ofce of Creatve Ministries at the Festval of Sharing in Oc-
tober and through other avenues. During our work Jef Baker
- Director of Mission, Service, and Justce Ministries for the
conference - talked to us about the new building project at the
center, which will add space to include the Conference United
Methodist Foundaton Ofce, the Ofce of Creatve Ministries,
and the Festval of Sharing Ofce as well as warehouse space.
Afer the presentaton, we toured the building and got a frst-
hand look at the changes that will be made.
On October 15, Brad Bryan presented a program on Music in
Worship and on November 19, Diana Revelle will present a
program on spiritual formaton using a daily devoton booklet
that the group has been following for the past several months.

And I Mean to Be One, Too By Taylor Burton-Edwards
(From the General Board of Discipleship website)
They lived not only in ages past;
there are hundreds of thousands stll.
The world is bright with the joyous saints
who love to do Jesus will.
You can meet them in school, on the street, in a store,
in church, by the sea, in the house next door;
they are saints of God, whether rich or poor,
and I mean to be one too.
-- Verse 3 from I Sing a Song of the Saints of God, UMH 712.
I invite you to consider joining United Methodists and other Christans around the
world to celebrate a Season of Saints. This started with World Communion Sunday
(October 5) and concludes with All Saints Sunday (November 2).
We may easily expand our awareness and celebraton of how Christ has been present
in the lives of people in the church from one single Sunday (All Saints) to a full fve
or six week period. Its a way to round out the Season afer Pentecost with a focus
on how the resurrecton of Jesus Christ has made the world bright with the joyous
saints.
Here is a suggested list of saints from church history and United Methodist history to
consider for each of the fve Sundays this year. *CS = Christan Saint; UMC = UMC Saint
October 5:
*CS: Francis of Assisi; UMC: Mary McLeod Bethune
October 12:
*CS: John Woolman; UMC: Jennie Fowler Willing
October 19:
*CS: Luke the Evangelist; UMC: Lizzie Hofman
October 26:
*CSs: Yona Kanamuzeyi & Dietrich Bonhoefer; UMC: Sarah Crosby
November 2:
*CS: Kahkewaquonaby; UMC: Jocob Albright
You may want to do a litle internet research on the saints who are less well known.
By all means feel free to change any of these names or add others.
In additon to these people, plan also to recognize other saints: from your congregaton or from
friends /family outside of church. You can share your stories online with the wider church at
United Methodist Worship blog. (htp://umcworship.blogspot.com/2011/07/and-i-mean-to-
be-one-too-stories-of.html) Just leave your story in the comments secton. Or share with your
circle. How you recognize these saints each week is up to you. Include them in your prayers;
Send a note; or take the person out for cofee or tea. If you keep a devotonal journal write
about their infuence on your faith life.
There are many ways to remember the saints in our lives choose what is best for you.
