1. COMPUTER SOFTWARE. Computer Software is "Technology-based Intangible Assets.
It is the ownership or right to use computer programs that control the functioning of
computer hardware and other devices. Computer software comprises both operating systems
and applications programs. Computer software is the most common type of intangible asset
that is internally generated. Computer software is considered internally generated if it is
developed in-house or by a third party contractor of the institutions behalf. Commercially
available software that is purchased or licensed but is modified using more than minimal
effort is also considered internally generated. Websites are considered intangible assets, and
they may also be internally generated.
2. MOTION PICTURE FILMS. Motion pictures, films, music videos and television
programs falls under artistic related intangible assets. It is a series of still images which,
when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images. A Motion Picture film gives
copyright owners control over the use of their works for the public performance of
copyrighted motion pictures and other programs.
3. MARKETING RIGHTS. A contract made between your company and a distributor that
grants the distributor some of the profits from the sales in exchange for promoting and
selling ones products. As an exclusive agreement, it dictates that only one firm has the
authority to sell ones products. This falls under Marketing-related intangible assets.
4. LICENCES. A Contract-based intangible assets which allows an intellectual property
rights holder (licensor) to make money from an invention or creative work by charging a
user (licensee) for product use. Licenses protect proprietary rights in things such as software
and other computer products, for example. Use a license to give someone permission to do a
certain activity or to use your property.
5. MPORT QUOTAS. An import quota is a limit on the quantity of a good that can be
produced abroad and sold domestically. It is a type of protectionist trade restriction that sets
a physical limit on the quantity of a good that can be imported into a country in a given
period of time.
6. CUSTOMER LISTS. A customer list consists of information about customers such as their
name and contact information. A customer list also may be in the form of a database that
includes other information about the customers such as their order history and demographic
information. A customer list does not generally arise from contractual or other legal rights.
However, customer lists are valuable and are frequently leased or exchanged.
