Research Experience

Worked as Project assistant in metabolic engineering lab in Dept. of Biosciences and
Bioengineering at IIT Bombay (Feb 2011 June 2011)

Kinetic characterization of enzyme carbaryl hydrolase obtained from Pseudomonas
sp. Strain C4 & C5 in terms of kinetic constant Km and pH optimum.

Enzymes sensitivity towards various metal ions was studied.

M.Sc. Dissertation (May 2010 Nov. 2011): Purification and characterization of enzyme
carbaryl hydrolase from carbaryl degrading Pseudomonas sp. strain C4 & C5

Carbaryl is an insecticide and is a member of carbamate family of pesticide. It is one
of the most widely used insecticides in agricultural fields. It is an inhibitor of acetyl
choline esterase causing toxic effects on exposure.

Carbaryl hydrolase was partially purified using various chromatographic techniques
such as ion-exchange, hydrophobic and gel filtration and ammonium sulphate
precipitation etc.

Molecular mass of the enzymes were determined with the help of SDS-PAGE
calibration curve and Sephacryl S 200 gel filtration curve.

Positions of responsibility

Generations 2010: Contributed to organization of national level festival organized by
Symbiotek Bioschool Association, IIT Bombay (2010)
GeneRations 2011: Worked as finance coordinator, leading the team to attract sponsors
for the event (2011)
