Christianity is a religion by moral detectives for mental defectives.
Islam is a crime against knowledge and freedom.
Nostradamus & Hinduism
When divine Shivaji with a mighty stroke,
Cracked the barbarous Moslem yoke,
Hinduism once more proved its worth,
To uphold the truth upon this earth.
Next came Guru Gobind and his heroic Sikhs,
Who foiled Islam's horrible tricks.
Then in Bengal Vivekananda arose,
Christian fraud did he fully expose.
Now is revealed Nostradamus’ prophetic word,
Soon by all destined to be heard:
Hinduism will again rise up in glory,
To resume its task, noble and hoary.
About the Author:
Gooloor S. Hiranyappa was born in 1935 in a family which has
distinguished itself in law. His father was a leading advocate, his
grand-father was a judge of the High Court in Bangalore, and his
cousin retired as the Chief Justice of the Indian Supreme Court in
Delhi.
Despite such a highly respectable background, Hiranyappa was
arrested twice by the Government of the Indian state of Karnataka.
And pray, what was his crime? He had frankly and truthfully explained
the prophecies of Nostradamus concerning Islam and Christianity.
When his book was banned arbitrarily in 1990, Hiranyappa warned
the then Karnataka Chief Minister Veerendra Patil that those who
meddled with Nostradamus come to a sticky end. The fates of Pope
continued on the back inside cover...Pius VI and Adolf Hitler were cited as examples. Within two months,
despite overwhelming support in the legislature, Veerendra Patil was
thrown on the scrap-heap. The criminal case against Hiranyappa
was dismissed after a careful examination of the evidence.
Nostradamus was vindicated yet again.
Years before, Hiranyappa was the top-most programme executive in
All India Radio. Fearing his rise, a group of influential tricksters
toped in the Director- General P.C.Chatterji as their accomplice. He
was condemned by the Indian Supreme Court in a major judgement
as an irresponsible and utterly unworthy official. P.C.Chatterji's
instigators were Rajani Kanth Rao, who was once a tabla-player ina
brothel, Miss M. V. Vasanthakumari, who had compromised herself
with a male colleague in a recording-studio, and S. Krishnan, who is
facing prosecution for large-scale graft. These scum managed to
ease Hiranyappa out.
One of P.C.Chatterjis patrons was Arjun Singh, later education-
minister in Delhi. Earlier he was Chief Minister. in Bhopal when the
terrible gas-leak tragedy killed 10,000 people, in December 1984.
Arjun Singh, as Chief Minister, had taken a bribe of 100,000 dollars
from Union Carbide company to permit its lethal plant in a crowded
area.
Arjun Singh’s father was a thief who died in jail. When he became a
minister, Arjun Singh made a lout named Moti Singh as a top
education official. Moti Singh in turn appointed a prostitute named
Girlja Kishori Singh as librarian in a college where Hiranyappa was
head of a department. When Hiranyappa protested, he was shifted
from the college. Arjun Singh was finally dismissed when a High
Court found him guilty of colossal fraud. The cheat is now Sonia
Gandhi's trusted adviser.
Gooloor S. Hiranyappa is spending the evening of his life in his home-
city of Bangalore, praying for a miracle that would cleanse India of
such scum. His only son is a promising young doctor. In Every Age, when Virtue is in peril,
| shall incarnate to destroy the evil.

as the end, by forces over which we have no control.

Bhagwan Shri Ramana Maharshi (1879 — 1950)
Photograph taken in his 21st year in 1900
by Nala Pillai in Thiruvannamalai
In 1989, when an Iranian fanatic named Khomeini gave an illegal
call to murder the British-based writer Salman Rushdie for unproven
blasphemy, Mosiem fanatics in Bangalore took the cue from him. A
similar illegal death-sentence was passed on the present writer for
correctly interpreting Nostradamus's prophecies. The craven
government of the state of Kamataka abdicated its responsibility to
punish the murderous criminals.
Instead, it arrested the writer.
It was in that period of acute anxiety that the writer invoked the
protection of Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi for himself and his kith and
kin. The threat dissolved. In deep gratitude, this book is dedicated to
the Maharshi. His shrine is at Thiruvannamalai in south India.Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi became God-realised at the
tender age of seventeen. When he threw off the mortal
coils in 1950, a star appeared in the night-sky to signal
the event. Western devotees were unable even to believe
their own eyes. It was proof positive that Ramana
Maharshi was indeed God in human form. This authentic
miracle is in stark contrast to the fable of the star of
Bethlehem at the time of Jesus's birth. It is only a myth,
concocted to mislead the ignorant. The miracles claimed
for Mohammed are unsubstantiated. After a close
investigation, the famous historian Edward Gibbon (1737-
1794) ridiculed the surpassing and unholy pretensions of
both Jesus and Mohammed. Nostradamus with his inner-
eye had seen through them both much earlier.
Now is revealed Nostradamus's prophetic word,
Soon by all destined to be heard:
Hinduism will again rise up in glory,
To resume its task, noble and hoary.Publication History

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Twenty years ago, in 1979, the writer published a brief article in
Organiser weekly of New Delhi on Nostradamus. It has taken him two
full decades to bring out the two volumes of this book. He is deeply
grateful to the readers who have waited patiently (and sometimes
impatiently) for the work to be completed. Now that it has been done,
the writer trusts that it will find readers’ approval.
Organiser (English, New Delhi) and Vikrama (Kannada Bangalore)
also deserve deep gratitude for their unfailing support to the writer
despite his flaws. He hopes for like support in the future too.Had I wished to give every quatrain its detailed date, it
could easily have been done. But it would not have pleased all
readers. - Nostradamus.
PROLOGUE
On 4th May 1555, a prosperous French doctor named
Nostradamus, living in a small town called Salon in southern
France, published a slender volume of obscure poetic
prophecies. It was the first instalment of four - lined stanzas
grouped together in quatrains of 100 each. Hence the title
CENTURIES. The title does not signify hundreds of years. It
is just an indication of the number of stanzas in each canto.
Nostradamus was not a historian, but a seer. He could
actually see future events with his inner eye or second sight.
Clairvoyance was the name given to this special faculty by
the ancient Romans. Nostradamus is the Western world’s
greatest seer or clairvoyant. He is a genuine prophet. His
predictions never fail. Though he died long ago, his name
lives on.
A prophet is a man who can foretell the future accurately.
Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was not a prophet in the
true sense of the word. He could not foretell the future.
Mohammed called himself paighamber or messenger of God.
The only true prophet known to the Western world is
Nostradamus. Hindu seers are numerous, but indifferent to
worldly matters.
A printer named Mace Bonhomme rolled off the first
edition of the CENTURIES on 4th May 1555 at Salon. Thebook has been in print ever since continuously. It has also
been translated into numerous other languages from the
French original. No other book save the Bible has enjoyed
such sustained popularity. In fact, in 1991 the Times
newspaper of London reported that in Britain, Nostradamus
even out-sold the Bible; His popularity is due to his amazing
accuracy. Science has been unable to explain his mysterious
faculty.
Others abide our question.
Thou art free.
This was how the English poet and critic Matthew Arnold
(1822-1888) extolled (to praise highly) Shakespeare. But such
a tribute should also be offered to the seer Nostradamus.
But why ? What is so unigue or special about
Nostradamus?
The reader who goes through the ensuing (following) pages
will know the reason why. Nostradamus’s inner-eye can see
through the barriers of time. Nothing is hidden from it. He
is an occult time-traveller.
PROOFS OF PROPHECY
There is a wise English saying which goes like this :
The proof of the pudding (pooding) is in the eating. In
other words, the true worth of anything is decided by its
quality and utility.
A prophet should be judged by the truthfulness of his
prophecies. If the prophecies (statements about the future)
go astray, then the man who uttered (spoke) them is no3
prophet at all. He is only a fraud or mounte- bank or
impostor. There have been many such in history. Only by
careful scrutiny can a genuine seer be marked out.
Let us now subject Nostradamus to this acid-test. How
does he fare?
THE ASSASSINATION OF A FRENCH PRINCE ON
13TH FEB 1820.
FORECAST MADE IN 1555 WITH THE DATE
SPECIFIED.
Quatrain 96 - Century III
(A quatrain is a four-lined stanza)
Chef de Fossan aura gorge coupee,
Par le ducteur du limier & leurier:
Le faict patre par ceux de mont Tarpee,
Saturn en Leo, 13 de Fevrier.
Translation : The leader (chief) from Fossano will have
his throat cut by a kennel - man who trains hunting - dogs
like grey-hounds. The deed (work) will be instigated by those
of the Tarpeian rock on 13th February. Saturn will be in
Leo.
The grand -son of the ruler of Fossano in Italy on his
mother’s side was the Duke de Berry of France. He was
visiting a Paris theatre on the evening of 13th February
1820. There he was murdered by the kennel-man (dog-
keeper) employed in his own palace. Louvel was the
assassin’s name. His duty was to train hunting-dogs for the
French royal- family. Its return had greatly outragedrepublican sentiments.
The Tarpeian rock was a cliff (vertical rock) in ancient
Rome. At that time Rome was a republic. Those who opposed
the republic and wanted a king were thrown down from
(flung from) the Tarpeian rock. Hence it stood for
(symbolised) republicanism. Louvel defiantly called himself a
republican on his arrest.
In 1820, England (Leo) exercised great influence over
Saturn (Germany). A part of Germany called Hanover was
actually under British rule till 1837.
The lion was the emblem or symbol of England for a long
time. Saturn in Greek myth (old legend) was a god who ate
up his own children. By starting needless wars destroying its
own people, Germany resembled Saturn.
This quatrain (four - lines) was written in 1555. At that
time there was no English rule in Germany. It began only in
1714. The assassination occurred as foretold on 13th
February, 265 years later. This is a truly remarkable
prophecy by any reckoning, giving an exact date. Even
scientists have been baffled by such prevision.
THE ABORTIVE (FRUITLESS) FLIGHT OF THE
FRENCH KING TO VARENNES IN 1791.
Quatrain 20 - Century IX
De nuict viendra par le forest de Reines,
Deux pars, vaultorte, Herne la pierre blanche :
Le moyne noir en gris dedans Varennes :Esleu Cap. cause tempest, feu, sang, tranche,
At night shall come through the forest of Reines, two
persons, by a round- about route. The queen of the white
stone, The monk - like king in grey, at Varennes.
The elected Capet (traditional title for French kings)
causes tempest, fire, blood -shed and slicing off of heads.
(Herne is an anagram for reine or queen).
Varennes is just a large village about 200 kms to the east
of the French capital Paris. It became famous only once
when the fleeing (running-away) French king Louis XVI
(Looee) was arrested there by French revolutionaries.
Around mid-night on 20th June, 1791, Louis XVI (Looee)
and his queen Marie Antoinette fled with their two children
from their palace in Paris. While travelling to France’s
eastern border, they were recognised because of their big
coach with six horses. On the night of 21st June, the royal
family reached Varennes, about 200 Kms, east of Paris. The
local revolutionaries arrested the king and the queen. The
next morning they were forced to return to Paris as prisoners
in fact, if not in name. Their freedom was ended.
With his prestige and authority gone, Louis XVI (Looee)
was compelled to give up his absolute powers. He became an
elected monarch. The revolution described as a tempest (very
strong storm) by Nostradamus, gathered force. It spread like
wild fire, and many castles, where powerful nobles lived,
were put to the torch. The guillotine, a wooden frame with
an iron- blade for slicing off heads, was set up in Paris. It isestimated that over 17,000 people were killed during the
French Revolution which began in 1789. The violence ended
in 1794.
Varennes, an unknown village, played a crucial part in
that revolution. It is its only claim to fame. Yet Nostradamus
foresaw it with his inner eye 236 years before. Even the
earliest editions of the Centuries specifically name Varennes.
It is proof-positive.
King Louis XVI is described in the third line of the
quatrain (four-lined stanza) as being monk-like. He had a
minor sex-defect which prevented consummation of his
marriage for several years. His condition was diagnosed by
physicians as phimosis or para-phimosis. After some years, a
minor operation removed the sex-defect. But even afterwards,
Louis XVI was not an ardent lover. Hence the seer describes
him as being monk-like in temperament. He was a do-nothing
ruler. (Placebo)
The King’s inability to enjoy sex frustrated his young and
beautiful queen. Marie Antoinette chose a lover named Count
(lord) Axel Fersen from Sweden. There was however no
dishonesty or deceit in her behaviour. After giving birth to
two sons and a daughter, she took Count (lord) Fersen as her
secret lover with her husband's consent or agreement. It was
Fersen who made most of the arrangements for their
attempted escape from revolutionary Paris in 1791 forecast
here.
Fersen’s own end was equally tragic. He was murdered by
a mob in Sweden’s capital Stockholm which wrongly blamedhim for the war with revolutionary France of Napoleon.
Fersen’s death came on the 20th anniversary of his royal
mistress and her spouse’s failed attempt to escape
revolutionaries.
When Nostradamus published this forecast in 1555, even
King Louis’s Bourbon dynasty had not become the ruling-
house in France. The luckless Louis's ancestor Henry IV
mounted the French throne only forty years later. But what
is forty years, or even four hundred for that matter, to a seer
whose clairvoyance extends upto the year 3797? This may
sound unbelievable, but is still irrefutable.
MURDER BY SLOW-POISON OF NAPOLEON IN 1821
Quatrain 89 - Century VI
Entre deux cymbes pieds & mains estaches
De miel face oingt & de laict substance :
Guespes & mouches, fitine amour faches,
Pocillateur faucer, Cyphe tempte.
Feet and hands tied between two boats,
The face anointed with milk and honey :
Frustrated love of a father causes pain like the sting of wasps
and flies,
The cup-bearer plays false using the wine-goblet for his
attempt.
The mention of two boats in the first line of the stanza is a
hint about an island. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was
sent as a prisoner after his defeat to two islands. The second
island was St. Helena (Saint Helena) where he died in 1821,aged only 52 years. Napoleon was born on Corsica, also
another island. Italian, not French, was his mother-tongue.
During his captivity of six years from 1815 on St. Helena,
Napoleon was never allowed to see his young son. As emperor,
his face had been anointed with milk and honey at. his
coronation (formal crowning). The separation from his child
caused him cruel and constant grief. He kept a metal bust of
the small boy in his bed-room. The son too did not live long,
dying at twenty-one in 1832.
The last line is the most extra-ordinary. Napoleon’s wine-
steward at St. Helena was a man named Montholon. He had
only recently joined his retinue (closest followers). Montholon
had been bribed to mix the poison arsenic with Napoleon’s
wine when offering it in goblets (big cups). None suspected
that Napoleon was being slowly poisoned with small doses of
arsenic. The ex-emperor died in 1821 without anyone finding
out the truth about his untimely death. Montholon escaped
without punishment. He died in 1859.
It was only in the 1960’s that a Swedish investigator
named Sten Forshufvud examined historical records about
Napoleon’s death. He subjected Napoleon’s hair to
spectroscopic tests. Arsenic was discovered in fatal (deadly)
quantities. Montholon’s back-ground provided the clue to the
murderer’s identity. Sten Forshufvud published his findings
in a book in 1981, 160 years after the murder of Napoleon.
Till then none even suspected it. Napoleon was born on 15th
August 1769. He died of poison in 1821.
Nostradamus had clearly prophesied it in 1555, evenfingering the wine-steward as the villain. It is a pity that
Sten Forshufvud did not know it.
THE SEPOY - REVOLT IN INDIA IN 1857.
Quatrain 18 - Century V
De deuil mourra Uinfelix proflige,
Celebrera son vitrix l’hecatombe:
Pristine loi franc edict redige,
Le mur and prince au septiesme jour tombe.
The defeated man dies of deep grief,
The woman victorious over him celebrates massacres :
The ancient law and free system restored,
The fort-wall and the prince fall on seventh day.
The clue to this prophecy is in the second line of the
quatrain. The victorious woman is actually queen Victoria of
England (1819-1901). She took over the rulership of India
after the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. The mutiny was crushed
with wholesale massacres by British soldiers. Nearly a
million died.
The sepoys (native troops) of the East India Company’s
army revolted when they found that Christian missionaries
were plotting against Hindu and Muslim religions. The revolt,
first erupted on 10th May 1857, which was a Sunday, at
Meerut. It is situated close to Delhi. After killing some
British, the sepoys marched away.
The next morning, the rebel sepoys entered Delhi and
expelled the British garrison. The 82-year-old Moghul
pensioner Bahadur Shah was declared the emperor of a10
revived Moghul rule. But he was too old for any active effort.
He spent his time writing some second-rate Persian poetry.
The British soon afterwards surrounded Delhi and
stormed its fort on 14th September 1857. The city
surrendered a week later on 21st September. Bahadur Shah
was taken prisoner. A very large number of people were
killed.
The last Moghul was sent to jail in Rangoon (Yangon) in
Burma (now Myanmar). He died there of grief in 1862, aged
eighty-seven. As Nostradamus forecast, Queen Victoria took
over. The ancient law and free system of the third line is the
seer’s description of Hindu religion. Hinduism allows the
greatest freedom in the matter of worship. There is no dogma,
or unreasonable doctrine. The Hindu religion is the world’s
oldest. Hence the adjective pristine.
Moghuls were the last Muslim dynasty to rule in Delhi.
Nostradamus predicts that Hindu traditions and belief will
again become popular and powerful after undergoing reform.
The seer is predicting here a glorious revival for Hinduism.
Muslim and Christian plots to subvert or subjugate it will
fail. Hinduism will continue to provide freedom of thought to
mankind.
NAPOLEON’S NEPHEW IS OVER-THROWN IN
BATTLE
Quatrain 43 - Century VIII
Par le decide de deux choses bastards,
Nephew du sang.occupera le regne :aa
Dedans Lectoyre seront les coups des dards,
Nephew par peur pliera Uenseigne.
By the fall of two bastard (illicit) things,
Nephew of royal blood will occupy power :
At Lectoyre there will be shots fired,
Nephew in fear will fold up his flag.
In the history of France, there is only one nephew who
ascended (occupied) the throne. He was Napoleon III. After
the death of Napoleon’s own son, his nephew became the
family - claimant. Born in 1808, he made himself emperor in
1852. The two bastard or illegitimate things were the first
and second republics in France. They had been formed
illegitimately by driving out anointed kings. At any rate, such
is the seer’s expressed opinion.
Napoleon III was a successful ruler for about a dozen
years. Thereafter he committed blunder after blunder.
Finally, in 1870, he unwisely declared war against Bismarck’s
Germany. It was done without proper preparation. Generals
were without armies, troops were without supplies. There
was confusion everywhere.
Six weeks later, on 2nd September 1870, Napoleon II was
surrounded at Sedan and forced to surrender to Bismarck.
The Napoleonic dynasty disappeared. Its flag was folded up
and put away for ever.
Le Torcey was a hamlet (small village) adjoining Sedan.
Lectoyre is its anagram. This prophecy had been widely
publicised throughout France for some years before Sedan.12
Napoleon III had himself read it. He said that it was
fearsome, terrible and paralysed the imagination.
After losing his throne in 1870, he moved to England and
died in 1873. Germany, united by Bismarck, became a world-
power. Bismarck came to be known as the Iron Chancellor.
THE 20TH CENTURY’S MAJOR WARS
Quatrain 63 - Century I
Les fleurs passes, disminue le monde,
Long temps la paix terres inhabitees :
Seur marchera par ciel, terre, mer & onde :
Puis de nouveau les guerres suscitees.
Pestilences are removed, world grows smaller,
For a long time countries will be inhabited in peace :
There will be safe travel through sky, land, sea and waves :
Then wars will grow from fresh causes.
It was only in the 20th century that major pestilences like
plague, cholera, malaria etc., were controlled or conquered.
The world grew smaller with the invention of the diesel
engine and aeroplanes. People could travel safely in the sky,
on land, and across the seas, and even under water in
submarines. Life became more enjoyable and more secure.
Life-spans became longer.
But this phenomenal (wonderful) growth in science and
organisation was not matched by political wisdom. The war
between France and Germany in 1870-1871 led to continuing
tensions in Europe. The First World War broke out in 1914.
Even after it ended in 1918, grave situations led to other13
conflicts. The Second World Was was the outcome of the
economic and political consequences of the 1914-18 war.
THE RUSSIAN COMMUNIST REVOLUTION OF 1917
Quatrain 17 - Century VIII
Les bien aisez subit seront dismiss,
Far is trois freres le monde mis en trouble,
City maritime saisiront enemies,
Faim, feu, sang, peste & de tous maux le double.
Those living in comfort and ease will be downed,
The three brothers will put the world in trouble:
The maritime (facing the sea) city will fall to foes,
Famine, fire, blood-shed, pestilence and doubling of all evils.
This quatrain, written in 1555, is numbered 17. It was in
1917 that the Communist Revolution took place in Russia. Is
it coincidence? or clairvoyance? It is for the reader to decide.
The Communist ideology preaches class-struggle between
people in different income-groups. Those who are comfortably
off are regarded as enemies of society. It is this cock-eyed
view of human relationship that makes Marxism or
Communism violent and destructive. Today it has been cast
aside in most parts of the world.
In 1917, St.Petersburg, on the Baltic sea, was the Russian
capital. In November of that year, three Communist leaders,
Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin, seized power by force.
St.Petersburg was occupied by armed Communist groups in
a coup (koo). Their opponents were either killed or exiled,14
Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin were not actually brothers in blood.
They were comrades in ideology.
Thereafter, calamities (great tragedies) befell Russia, one
after another. There were famines, civil- wars leading to
hundreds of thousands dead, pestilences, and a very cruel
dictatorship. Communists, because of their red-flag, are also
called the Reds. They are rude (ill-behaved), dishonest &
violent.
Nostradamus further foretold in a prose prophecy that
Communist rule in Russia would end after 73 years and 7
months. In June 1991 this prediction also was fulfilled. The
Reds in Russia lost their power. (The New Delhi weekly
Organiser published this forecast in its issue for 24-12-1989).
THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 1929 RUINS WORLD
ECONOMY
Quatrain 28 - Century VII
Les simulacres d’ or & Wargent enflez,
Qu’apres le rapt a lac furent gettez :
Au discovert estaints tous & troublez,
Au marbre script prescript intergetez.
The symbols of gold silver suffer inflation,
So that after cornering by traders they are burnt up :
At that discovery stock-markets close and,
Troubles surround even blue-chip shares and bonds.
This is a free translation. No exact rendering is possible.
When Nostradamus wrote this prophetic four-line quatrain15
in 1555, there were no currency notes. Only coins were in
use. Stocks, shares and bonds were unknown. Modern
business practices were still in the future.
After the First World War ended in 1918, all over Europe
and America, there was a great expansion (growth) of
industry. America became the world’s richest land. Buying of
stocks and shares reached record-levels. Profits became very
great.
But some stock-market traders were dishonest. Their
cunning speculations falsely raised the prices on the stock-
market. Hence there was steep inflation and bonds and share
started losing demand. A Swede named Ivar Krueger was the
prime villain in Europe.
In October 1929, the New York stock-market fell into a
great depression (loss of business). The European stock-
markets had relied upon New York. They also collapsed
shortly afterwards. With factories closed and banks shutting
down, millions of people lost their jobs, and their very
livelihood. Thousands committed suicide in despair. Young
men turned to radical and violent politics.
The effects of the great depression were particularly hard
on Germany. It had been defeated in 1918 and was unable to
rebuild its industries and regain their markets. After the
1929 stock market crash, 6,000,000 Germans became
unemployed. Hitler won them over to his side by promising
them jobs. Jobless Germans became his eager followers.
In 1928, Hitler’s Nazi party had only 12 members in the16
German parliament. After the great depression began, the
Nazis in 1930 won 107 seats in parliament. In 1932 this was
further raised to 230 members. The next year, in 1933, Hitler
became the dictator of Germany. A new dark age began. The
Great Depression of 1929 produced the Second World War in
1939.
LEAGUE OF NATIONS FAILS TO KEEP WORLD
PEACE
Quatrain 47 - Century I
Du lac Leman les sermons fascheront,
Les jours seront reduicts per les septemaines:
Puis mois, puis an, puis tous defailliront,
Les magistrats damneront leur loix vaines.
(sermons are moral or religious lectures).
At Geneva (adjoining Lake Leman) speeches become troubled,
The days are prolonged into weeks,
Then into months, then into years, then everything fails,
The judges themselves will blame their ineffective laws.
Geneva is a city in Switzerland, distinct from Genoa in
Italy. Geneva became the head-quarters of the League of
Nations in 1920. It was the very first attempt to form a loose
federation of the world. The terrible carnage (blood-shed) in
1914-18 was an eye-opener.
After the dreadful (very horrifying) loss of life (nearly 18
million), the leading nations of the West decided to form an
organisation to prevent future wars. The League of Nations
was principally the brain-child of the idealistic American7
President Woodrow Wilson (1856-1923).
But, ironically, America itself refused to join the League
of Nations. The Americans wanted to adopt isolationist (aloof)
policies in foreign affairs. Isolationism defeated President
Wilson.
The other super-power, Russia, was kept out because it
had turned Communist. So the League of Nations was fatally
handicapped from its very inception. Still it marked a major
mile-stone in the march of civilisation.
The greatest defect of the League of Nations was that it
had no military force of its own to execute its decisions.
Consequently, even severe condemnation in its resolutions
did not affect war-like countries. Aggression (uncalled for
attack and occupation) continued to be practised by some
powerful countries. Debates in Geneva did not deter them.
Sermons were just ignored.
Japan occupied northern China in 1931. When its action
was condemned, Japan left the League. Germany did like-
wise in 1933 when Hitler became its dictator. Russia was
belatedly admitted that year, but it also left the League in
1940 to show its disregard for its condemnation of an attack
on Finland. Geneva lost. all its influence.
When Hitler started the Second World War in 1939 by
invading Poland, the League of Nations became helpless.
Even its staunch members decided to wind it up. The United18
Nations Organisation (UNO) replaced the ineffectual League
of Nations in 1945. It is the second attempt at a World
Government.
ADOLF HITLER’S NAZI GERMANY’S EARLY
VICTORIES
Quatrain 4 - Century V
Le gros mastin de city deschasse,
Sera fasche de I’ estrange alliance:
Apres aux champs avoir le cerf chasse,
Le Loup & L’Ours se donront defiance.
The big mastiff (guard dog) is chased from the city,
It will be troubled by the strange alliance:
After chasing (driving) the stag (male deer) to the field,
The Wolf and the Bear growl at each other defiantly.
The British symbol is (or was) the lion. The Briton
(Britisher) individually is supposed to have the stamina of a
bull-dog. The mastiff (or large guard-dog) here stands
therefore for England. The British are great dog-lovers. A
majority keep them as pets.
The British were driven from Paris and France in June
1940 by Hitler’s Nazi German armies. The British were
troubled or annoyed by the strange alliance between Nazi
Germany and Communist Russia. Signed in August 1939, a
week before the German invasion of Poland, the treaty
triggered the Second World War. Stalin therefore shares the
guilt (criminal responsibility) with Hitler to some extent.19
The male deer is France (stag), which was defeated and
forced to surrender its capital Paris to Hitler. The French
had to move into the country-side.
The last line is the most interesting. When France fell in
June 1940, Hitler (who liked to be called Wolf in private) and
Russia (popularly called the Bear) began to distrust each
other. The Russian dictator Stalin occupied Latvia, Lithuania
and Estonia on the Baltic coast. The Nazi-Soviet Russian
pact started coming apart. In June 1941, Hitler invaded
Russia.
TWO ATOM BOMBS END THE II WORLD WAR
IN 1945
Quatrain 6 - Century IT
Aupres des ports & dedans deux cities,
Seront deux fleaux & oncques n’apperceu un tel :
Faim, dedans peste, de fer hors gens boutes,
Crier secours au grand Dieu immortal.
Near the sea-ports and inside two cities,
There will be two pestilences, such as were never before seen:
Famine, inside cities disease, people turning away from arms,
Cry for succour (help) to the immortal great God.
On 6th August 1945, the very first atom bomb used in
warfare fell on the port city of Hiroshima in Japan. This
quatrain is also numbered six. Did Nostradamus know that
the first atom bomb would fall on that date? One can almost
be certain that he did. He was a seer for whom the future
held no secrets. It was an open book to him. As remarked20
before, he was an occult time-traveller.
Three days later, on 9th August a second Japanese port
city, Nagasaki was blasted by another atomic bomb. In these
two bombings, over 200,000 people died immediately. Those
who survived became victims of a strange radiation disease.
It is incurable. They can only pray to God for help. Doctors
are helpless.
The Japanese are a heroic nation. In battle they are
willing to die to the last man. But when atom-bombs were
used, Japan realised that further fighting would only mean
national suicide. A few days later, on 15th August 1945,
Japan surrendered. It was the last ally of Hitler. He had
begun the war in 1939. Japan joined the war on his side in
1941.
The atomic bomb is a weapon unknown in earlier wars.
Japan today is an economic super-power. But it has given up
militarism after the atomic blasts over its cities. Nuclear
weapons are a warning to mankind.
SIR ANTHONY EDEN’S TERRIBLE BLUNDER
(MISTAKE) AT SUEZ IN 1956.
Quatrain 88 - Century IV
Le grand Anthony du nom, de faict sordid,
De phthiriasis a son dernier ronge :
Un qui de plumb voudra estre cupid,
Passant le port desleu sera plunge.
Bearing the great: name of Anthony, but greedy in deed,
At the end he will be devoured (eaten up) by lice :21
One who was very keen to plumb (fathom) the water,
While passing the port will be sunk by the newly-elected.
This is a very precise prophecy of the misadventure at the
Suez canal in 1956 by Sir Anthony Eden, the then British
prime-minister. Nostradamus even mentions the prime-
minister’s first name. It is stupefying to realise that this
prediction was written 400 years before, in 1555. If only Sir
Anthony Eden had cared to read it, he might have avoided
the blunder which cost him his job and reputation both.
The Suez canal, connecting the Mediterrtanean sea with
the Red sea, is an ancient (very old) project. The Pharaohs
(faros, kings of Egypt) in pre-historic times had built a canal
to link the Nile river and the Red sea. Two thousand years
later, the Persians (Parsees) had built another canal after
the old one had been silted up with sand.
But after Egypt fell under Arab Moslem rule in 642 CE
(Christian era), the canal was allowed to dry up again. When
Napoleon invaded Egypt in 1798, he had visions of building
a new and longer Suez canal. But his plans miscarried after
his navy was destroyed by the British at Aboukir bay.
Napoleon returned to France.
It was another Frenchman, Ferdinand de Lesseps, who
finally built the modern Suez canal in 1869. It was
inaugurated by empress Eugenie, consort of Napoleon III.
The canal was jointly owned by France and the ruler of
Egypt. He held a majority of shares.
But the Egyptian ruler was a spendthrift (waster of22
money). In 1874, he was very deeply in debt and wanted to
sell off his Suez Canal shares. England immediately bought
them. Control of the Suez was very essential to England as it
ruled India. In 1882, England sent Indian troops to Egypt.
And that country also passed under British control.
With India’s independence in 1947, the Indian troops in
the Suez Canal Zone were replaced by British soldiers. In
1954, Britain could no longer afford the cost of maintaining
troops in the Suez Canal Zone. By agreement with Egypt,
England withdrew from Suez. But it still held the majority
shares bought in 1874.
Two years later, in 1956, the Egyptian leader Gamel
Nasser suddenly nationalised the Suez canal. Both France
and England, as the exclusive share-holders, became furious.
Secretly, they instigated an Israeli attack on Egypt in October
1956. Pretending to be mediators, both landed troops in Suez
Canal Zone. Sir Anthony Eden thought he had won a great
victory. But his eyes were very soon opened to reality. The
Russians made ready to intervene on Egypt's side.
Without India’s armed support, England could never carry
on a military campaign anywhere. As long as India was under
British rule, it was the Brightest Jewel in the British crown.
Anthony Eden realised too late that the days of British
supermacy were over. In desperation, he turned to the U.S.A
for help.
The Americans were then in the middle of a presidential
election. Eisenhower was re-elected for a second term. He23
bluntly told Anthony Eden that America would not support
the Suez misadventure. Military action was immediately
stopped. British and French troops withdrew in frustration.
Anthony Eden resigned as British prime-minister in 1957.
He died in 1977 of depression and in disgrace. His career
was sunk.
India fervently supported Egypt in the Suez crisis in 1956.
But in 1965, when Pakistan attacked India, Nasser allowed
a Pakistani arms supply-ship, the Bagh-e-Karachi, to cross
the Suez. The Egyptian leader quite forgot the great help
given by India in the Suez crisis. There was no gratitude
shown.
One question remains :
Why did Nostradamus make this forecast at all?
The answer is to be found in Christian hagiology (stories of
saints) .
Before the Arab Moslem invasion of 642 CE, Egypt was a
Christian country. About ten percent of its people are still
Christians, known as the Copts. Sixteen hundred years ago,
there was a Christian saint in Egypt, named Anthony. He
resisted many temptations (attractive and enjoyable offers)
and became famous, as the first line in quatrain declares.
But his name-sake Anthony Eden did not resist the
temptation to recover control of the Suez canal by force. He
wanted England to continue to earn rich profits from the
canal revenues. St.Anthony became famous, but Anthony
Eden only got disgraced. And in each case Egypt figured. It.
might be the reason for the seer to include this forecast.24
This ends the four-lined quatrains chosen to demonstrate
the authenticity or genuineness, or truthfulness of
Nostradamus’s pre-vision, or second-sight .Covering a period
of 400 years, they are unbelievably true. If the reader is still
incredulous (unbelieving), he or she should put down the
book at once. Obviously, this is not their cup of tea.
If, on the other hand, this chapter carries conviction (total
belief), read on. You will discover, as Shakespeare remarks in
Hamlet, that “ there are more things in heaven and earth
than are dreamt of in your philosophy”.25
Chapter One
NOSTRADAMUS AND THE FIRST WORLD WAR
Sitting in his upper-floor study in 1555 in his house at
Salon in southern France, the French-Jewish seer forecast
the course of the First World War which broke out suddenly
in August 1914. Such a claim on behalf of anyone else would
draw only disbelieving or skeptical smiles. But not when the
Seer of Salon is involved. Nostradamus declares that his pre-
vision, or second sight, extends upto the year 3797 !
ASSASSINATION OF AN AUSTRIAN GRAND - DUKE
IN 1914 LIGHTS THE FUSE FOR I WORLD WAR
Quatrain 57 - Century II
Avant conflict le grand tombera,
Le grand mort, mort, trop subite & plainte,
Nay imperfect: la plus part nagera,
Aupres du fleuve de sang la terre taint.
Before the conflict (war), the great man is felled,
The great man’s death is very sudden, raising complaints :
Another is born deformed: his ships swim large parts of
oceans.
Near the river the earth is coloured by blood.
This is a very precise prophecy of the outbreak of the
1914 war. On Sunday, 28th June 1914, the crown- prince
(next king) of Austria, the grand-duke Francis Ferdinand,
was assassinated by Serbian nationalists at Serajevo in
Bosnia. Austria had illegally occupied Bosnia in 1908 in
violation of treaty conditions.26
The grand-duke Francis Ferdinand and his spouse Sophie
Chotek died after being shot at point-blank range (less than
5 metres distant). Their young children became orphans
suddenly. Austria complained angrily about the involvement
of Serbia in the assassination and declared war. Austria’s
ally and senior partner Germany also entered the war on Ist
August 1914. The conflict became a world-war.
The German emperor in 1914 was Kaiser (emperor)
Wilhelm II. He had been born with a withered (shortened)
left arm. He was the first German ruler to build a very strong
navy. During the First World War, the German naval ships
fought on most seas and oceans. Ii is remarkable that
Nostradamus could even foresee the Kaiser’s physical
deformity.
The major land-battles were fought across the Rhine river,
separating Germany from France, its age-old enemy. These
battles were so bitter that the earth turned red with the
blood of the fallen soldiers and civilians. For the first time in
history, a war claimed more than 10 million lives.

Paix, uberte long temps lieu louera,

Corps morts d’eau, terre la Von apportera.

For a long time the land will praise peace & prosperity,27
All over the country the fleur-de-lys will be deserted:
Dead-bodies in the water (of rivers) will be taken to land,
In the vain hope for the hour of burial.
The fleur-de-lys (the lily-flower) was the emblem (symbol)
of the French royal family. The Revolution replaced the white
fleur-de-lys with the red-white-blue tricolour (India’s tricolour
is saffron-white-green). Many supporters of the royal family
were not happy with the tricolour banner (flag). They wanted
the lily-flower restored.
But even after the overthrow of Napoleon III in 1870, all
attempts to bring back the Fleur-de-lys failed. Republican
Frenchmen successfully prevented royalists from bringing
back the old flag. The monarchy was dead. It could not be
revived,
From 1871 to 1914, France enjoyed peace and growing
prosperity under the tricolour flag. Even former royalists
began to praise the quite satisfactory conditions that
republican rule provided. The demand for the return of the
fleur-de-lys flag died out. The tricolour had come to stay (had
become permanent), None desired any further change.
But in 1914, with the outbreak of the First World War,
both peace and prosperity ended. The battles with the
invading Germans on the many river-banks led to hundreds
of thousands dead. The dead bodies taken out of water could
not even be buried properly as the battle fronts shifted and
kept changing rapidly. The general expectation of a short
war proved to be a delusion. An entire generation of young
men perished.28
THE BATTLE OF MARNE STOPS GERMAN ONRUSH
Quatrain 43 - Century VI
Long temps sera sans estre habitee,
Ou Seine & Marne autour vient arrouser :
De la Tamise & Martian tentee,
Deceivez les gardes en cuidant repouser.
For a long time the battle field will remain unpeopled.
Where Seine & Marne gush forth and flow :
Attempted capture by the emperor’s military forces,
The defenders deceived in thinking it repulsed
After crossing the Rhine and the rivers of eastern France,
the Germans approached the eastern outskirts of Paris in
September 1914. The Seine is a river which flows through
the French capital. The Marne is about 40 Kms, east of Paris.
Both Seine and Marne proved decisive in checking the
German invasion of 1914. They are not big rivers, just
streams. Still, they changed the flow of the stream of history.
The German Kaiser Wilhelm was an emperor. His
shoulder cloth, or mantle, was called samite, made of fine
silk, and embroidered in silver or gold. Tamise is an anagram
(transposition of letters) of samite. When his imperial troops
were beaten off at the Marne river in 1914, the French
believed it was a final victory. It wasn’t. The Germans
continued to fight, and returned to the Marne for a second
time in 1918. But with no better success than in 1914. Due
to great destruction, the area near the Marne was
uninhabitable for years.29
THE FINAL GERMAN DEFEAT IN 1918.
Quatrain 12 - Century IV
Le camp plus grand de route mis en fuite,
Guaires plus outre ne sera pourchasse:
Ost recampe and legion reduicte,
Puis hors ses Gaules du tout sera chasse.
The greatest army of invasion will be made to flee,
But it will hardly be pursued further:
The army regrouped and size of formations reduced,
Then from France it will be totally chased out.
The battle of Marne in Sept. 1914 was only an indecisive
victory. The Germans retreated and reorganised their armies
into more campact divisions. They were not pursued far. It
was only much later that France was completely freed when
Germans were finally driven out in 1918. The invading army
in 1914 was nearly a million strong, the greatest ever upto
that time. The battle of Marne was a turning point in the
First World War. The German defeat there assured an Allied
(united friendly countries) victory in the end. Nostradamus
could foresee it as long ago as 1555. This is utterly (totally)
unbelievable. But completely true. That is why Nostradamus
is still studied with care.
OUTBREAK OF WAR FORECAST FOR 1914.
Quatrain 51 - Century I
Chef d’Aries, Jupiter & Saturn,
Dieu eternal, quelle mutations:
Puis par long siecle son malin temps return,30
Gaul & Italy, quelle emotions:
Head of Aries, Jupiter & Saturn,
Eternal (timeless) God, what enormous changes :
Then after a long century, the evil times return,
France & Italy, what emotions (strong feelings) !
Aries in the astrological zodiac is the ram, or male sheep
(female sheep is ewe). Moslems sacrifice rams at their
religious festivals. Hence Aries here stands for Turkey, which
in 1914 was ruled by the caliph, or religious head of all
Moslems. The caliphs were the direct successors of
Mohammed. There was no separation of religion from
government.
Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. Russia is
the largest country on the globe. Nostradamus therefore
makes Jupiter the symbol for Russia.
Saturn, as already indicated, stands for Germany in the
seer’s prophecies. All the three countries were involved in the
1914 war. All were defeated. Russia went down despite being
on the Allied side. Turkey was ruled by a Moslem caliph,
Germany by a Kaiser and Russia by a Tsar (emperor). When
the war ended, the caliph was overthrown, the Kaiser was
exiled (sent out) and the Tsar was killed. None could have
expected such enormous (very great) changes. Especially
since Germany and Russia were on opposing sides. But the
seer’s clairvoyance did not fail.
The First World War broke out in 1914. It was exactly a
hundred years before, in 1814, that the Napoleonic wars31
ended. Napoleon did return in 1815 for a Hundred Days
before the battle of Waterloo. But it was only a short
campaign. The Napoleonic wars had ended in 1814.
Nostradamus forecast in this quatrain that after exactly a
hundred years, war would again break out. It did, in 1914.
The seer’s prophecy came true at the indicated time. It seems
likely he had foreseen all history before-hand !
France and Italy both suffered German invasions in the
First World War. Their losses in men and material were very
heavy. It was with a strong feeling of sorrow and anger that
they fought. They believed, as did the rest of the Western
world, that there would be no more wars. When they found
that it was not so, their disappointment and disillusionment
were bitter. Conditions became worse, leading to the Second
World War.
Turkey, after 1918, abandoned the Moslem religious rule
of the caliph. Under a great leader named Kemal Ataturk
(Father of the Turks), it became a modern, non-islamic state.
The caliph was sent packing (driven out).
THE MOSLEM CALIPHATE IN TURKEY
OVERTHROWN
Quatrain 31 - Century III
Aux champs de Mede, d’Arabe & d’Armenie,
Deux grans copies trois fois s'assembleront:
Pres du rivage d’Araxes la mesnie,
Du grand Suleyman en terre tomberont.
On the battle-fields of western Iran, Arabia & Armenia,32
Two great armies will gather three times:
Near the banks of Aras river the dynasty,
Of Suleyman the great will fall to the ground.
Turkey entered the 1914 war in November of that year on
the side of Germany against the Allies. Russia and England
immediately organised large armies to attack the Moslem
caliph’s empire. .
In 1914, 1915 and 1916, Russian armies based in Armenia
drove the Turkish troops from the Caucasus mountains.
Likewise, in Egypt and western Iran, England assembled
mainly Indian troops to destroy Turkish rule. The British-
Indian armies advanced from Egypt and north-west Arabia
to drive out the Turkish forces deployed against them. In
December 1917, Jerusalem, the holy city of Jews and
Christians, was captured. Thereafter, the Turkish resistance
rapidly collapsed. In November 1918, the caliph surrendered.
The people of Turkey realised that Moslem rule had
brought them only defeat and disgrace. The caliph (Moslem
religious ruler) was a descendant of Suleyman the
Magnificent (splendidly-dressed). Suleyman conquered south-
eastern Europe. He even besieged the Austrian capital
Vienna in 1529. He was however beaten back. He died in
1566, in the same year as Nostradamus died.
Suleyman had many wives. To please his youngest wife,
he got his two eldest sons by other wives murdered without
reason. It is difficult to see why such a man should be praised
by historians as a great ruler. By murdering his own grown-
up sons, Suleyman destroyed his dynasty’s vigour.33
Still, his descendants continued to rule Turkey for another
350 years. But after the caliph’s surrender to the Allies in
1918, the dynasty was ended by the Turks themselves. A
national committee met in Anatolia, on the southern side of
the Aras river. Under the leadership of Kemal Ataturk, the
caliph was deposed. Turkey threw off the rule of the Koran,
and become a modern constitutional state. The caliph and
his family were sent packing (driven out). Turkey became a
secular republic.
While the Turks themselves were ending the caliphate, in
India there was an agitation called the Khilafat movement to
rescue the caliph. Begun in 1920, it incited murderous
separatism among India’s Moslems. Mahatma Gandhi
unwittingly lent his support to the Khilafat agitation.
Towards the end of his life, the Khilafat fanatics opened his
eyes by barbarously dividing India to create Pakistan in 1947.
Rivers of blood flowed. Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violence was
exploited by Moslem fanatics.
Western interpreters of the seer invariably apply this
forecast to the naval battle of Lepanto in 1571. There the
Turkish navy was largely sunk by Christian war-ships. But
the last line of the forecast. makes it very clear that the
defeated dynasty falls to the ground, and not to the bottom of
the sea. Furthermore, there were no battles in Armenia and
Arabia at the time Lepanto was fought. Armenia, on Turkey’s
northern border, was formerly called Haya-sthan, or Land of
Horses in Sanskrit.34
RUSSIA’S LAST TSAR (EMPEROR) COMES UNDER
RASPUTIN’S SPELL.
Quatrain 67 - Century VI
Au grand Empire parviendra tout un aultre,
Bonte distant, plus de felicity:
Regi par issue non loing du peaultre,
Corruer regne grand infelicity.
To the great Empire a quite different ruler will come,
Who will be distant from kindness, and even more from
happiness:
Guided by a man not long come from an immoral bed,
The government is corroded, creating great misery.
Gregory Rasputin was a Russian holy-man or mystic who
was both a faith-healer as well as a rake (notorious
womaniser). Born in Siberia in 1871 in a very humble (poor)
family, Rasputin became a monk around 1899. He left his
wife and children, and began to wander all over Russia, and
even beyond. He could cure the sick by faith-healing, and
foretell the future. He was not a fraud. His occult powers
were genuine. But his insatiable lust for women made him
an outcast from decent society.
Russia’s last tsar was Nicholas II. He was a weak man
without any will-power. His only son was born in 1904 as a
haemo-philiac. Haemophilia prevents blood from clotting
after an injury. Consequently, the haemophiliac may bleed to
death from any internal or external injury. There is no cure.
It afflicts only men, who inherit it from their mothers.35
Rasputin (1871-1916) proved that he could control the
tsar’s only son’s haemophilia. Thereafter, the monk with a
deep itch for women became an indispensable part of the
Russian emperor’s household. Even after gaining great
prominence, Rasputin continued his womanising. The
prestige of the imperial family was greatly damaged. Even
the empress’s chastity was wrongly suspected.
When the First World War began, Rasputin started to get
his own favourites and followers into high and crucial
positions. Their incapacity led to severe Russian defeats.
Finally, by 1917, Russia was practically beaten down by the
German armed forces. Rasputin was murdered in December
1916 by Russian patriots. But the change came too late.
Within a few months, the tsar was deposed. In November,
1917, Russia became Communist under Lenin. The vast
country lay prostrate before the German armies of the Kaiser.
Defeat became unavoidable.
If Rasputin had not been, Lenin could not have been: such
was the verdict of a Russian statesman named Kerensky. He
became prime-minister for a short period after Nicholas was
deposed.
KERENSKY LOSES POWER, LENIN BECOMES
DICTATOR AND TSAR NICHOLAS IS PUT TO

Son adversaire fera si grand prowess,LEmperor tost mort sera condemn.
To the deserter from the great fortress,
After he has abandoned his position (of power):
His adversary (opponent) will grow so strong,
That the emperor will soon be condemned to death.
Tsar Nicholas IL (1868-1918) was the absolute
(unquestioned) ruler of the world’s largest land-mass. His
daily income was several million roubles. His army was the
world’s biggest.
Yet Nicholas II died a violent death along with his entire
family. They were all shot by Communist agents in July 1918.
None was spared.
Nicholas II was blessed with everything but luck. If there
is luck, nothing else is needed. If there is no luck, everything
else fails. There is no armour against fate. Except courage,
determination and hard work.
Alexander Kerensky (1881-1969) became Russia’s prime-
minister after Nicholas II was deposed (removed) in March
1917. But he too was unlucky. In November, 1917,
Communists under Lenin seized power in an armed uprising.
Kerensky’s loyal troops in the fortress of Peter and Paul in
St.Petersburg surrendered to Lenin. Kerensky lost his prime-
minister’s post. He escaped from Russia disguised as a sailor.
He finally settled in the United States. India’s first prime-
minister Jawaharlal Nehru rather resembled Kerensky.
Lenin consolidated his position as the dictator of Russia
by signing a treaty with Germany in 1918 at Brest-Litovsk.37
Russia withdrew from the First World War. Nicholas and his
family were shot in Siberia in July, 1918. Their remains were
brought back to St. Petersburg in July, 1998, and buried with
state honours.
THE COMMUNIST REVOLUTION IN RUSSIA -
LENIN, TROTSKY, AND STALIN

The two evil men like a scorpion’s mandibles will lock
together,
The great aristocrat (nobleman) will be murdered in his hall:
A new leader joining them will be a pest to the church,
In lower regions of Europe and in the north.
Like the two mandibles of a poisonous scorpion, Lenin and
Trotsky held on to their power in Russia after the Communist
revolution of November 1917. Lenin’s mother was a German,
his father was from Crimea.
Following the murder in Siberia of Tsar Nicholas and his
entire family, his younger brother Michael was shot in his
palace in St.Petersburg. The Russian aristocracy was
slaughtered or scattered.
The third Communist leader, Stalin (1879-1953) soon
became as important as Lenin and Trotsky. After Lenin’s
death in 1924. Stalin managed to grab all power. He brushed38
Trotsky aside. Trotsky was a Russian Jew.
In 1929, Trotsky was exiled (driven out) from Russia.
Stalin became the sole ruler of the world’s largest land-mass.
He was cruel, cunning and extremely capable. Stalin too
was not a Russian by blood. He was from Asian Georgia.
In his youth, Stalin had studied in a seminary (training-
school) for Christian priests. What he had learnt there
convinced him that Christianity was a fraud (a dishonest
thing). When he became Russia’s unchallenged dictator,
Stalin became a pestilence to the church in lower Europe like
Ukraine, Bela-Rus and other regions. In northern Europe,
Christian churches were closed down. Russia became an
Atheist (without belief in God) country under Stalin’s long
dictatorship of 29 years.
FATE OF STALIN’S CHILDREN AFTER HIS DEATH

Mais ses enfants du regne getiez dehors.
The youngest son will come into the eldest’s place,
Elevated very high in the regime of privilege:
His sharp glory will be feared by everyone,
But after his death his children will be thrown out.
When Lenin died in January 1924, his logical successor
was Trotsky, who was second in rank. But Stalin, the39
youngest son of the Russian Revolution, outmanoeuvred
Trotsky. He made himself the undisputed ruler of the Soviet
Union. The Communist regime provided special facilities or
privileges to leading Communists and their families. They
were above the law. They could do anything they liked with
impunity.
George Orwell, a well-known British writer, started out in
life as a Communist. But his disenchantment with the Reds
‘was complete when he discovered that the leaders were living
in great luxury. Orwell coined a sarcastic motto to describe
the Communist practice:
“All are equal, but some are more equal than others.” In
keeping with this practice, Stalin’s two sons and a daughter
enjoyed special privileges when their father was alive. Jacov,
the eldest, was born to Stalin’s first wife. After Stalin married
for a second time, Jacov felt neglected During the German
invasion, Jacov was made a prisoner-of-war. He died in a
POW camp.
Vasily, the second son, and Svetlana, Stalin’s only
daughter, were born to his second wife. After Stalin’s death,
Vasily was dismissed from his top air- force job, and died of
drink. Svetlana married an Indian revolutionary named
Brijesh Singh. When he died, she brought his ashes to be
immersed in the Ganges, in 1966. After performing that
Hindu religious duty, Svetlana defected to the United States
of America.40
LARGE - SCALE EXODUS OF RICH & WELL - TO -
DO CLASSES FROM RUSSIA FROM 1917 ONWARDS
Quatrain 69 - Century VI
La pitie grande sera sans long tarder ,
Ceux qui donoient seront constraint de prendre:
Nudz, affamez de froit, soif, soi bander,
Les monts passer commetant grand esclandre.
The great pity or sorrow will be felt before long.
Those who were giving will be constrained to take:
Naked without means, starving, cold, thirsty, banding
together.
They will pass the mountains, creating a great scandal.
The Communist or Marxist ideology is based on class-
warfare. Karl Marx (1818-1883) taught that the rich and the
well-to-do are responsible for society’s problems. This foolish
teaching has made Communists the enemies of the people in
easy circumstances, however innocent. But the Communist
leaders themselves generally lived in great comfort.
From 1917 onwards, millions of Russians were compelled
to leave their homes because of Communist persecution.
These refugees were affluent in former times and generous
in giving help to others. But now they found themselves
without any means of livelihood. Starving for lack of food,
shivering in the severe winter of Russia, and thirsty, they
escaped in small groups (bands). They crossed the Carpathian
mountains on Russia’s frontier with Rumania, the Balkan
mountains, the Caucasus mountains adjoining Turkey and
Iran, and the Urals in the east, not very far from China. The41
exodus (large-scale forced departure) was not ended for many
years. Russia lost the cream of its artists, intellectuals and
professionals in the exodus. When millionaires and middle-
class Russian exiles arrived in other countries as destitute
refugees, there was shock and surprise everywhere. The
scandal was very great. Russia lost many of its finest people
in the exodus of anti-Communists. They included Vladimir
Zworykin, the inventor, of the modern television-tube who
settled in America (1924).
The class-war ideology of Karl Marx led to immense (very
great) suffering for innocent victims. The greatest victim was
Russia itself. Its people lost personal liberty. The country
was turned into a vast prison-house.
KAISER’S GERMANY LOSES THE FIRST WORLD
WAR
Quatrain 13 - Century [IV
De plus grand perte nouvelles raportees,

Double phalange grand abandonnera.
The news of the great loss is reported.
The report will stun (greatly surprise) the army-camp:
Bands will be formed to fight those who revolt.
The two chief supporters will abandon their ruler.
The First World War began in August, 1914, when Kaiser’s
Germany declared war on Tsarist Russia. Germany later
secured the adherence of Turkey and Bulgaria to its side.42
Austria was already its partner. They were known as the
Central (European) Powers.
After 51 months of intense, but indecisive fighting, which
killed more than 18 million soldiers and civilians, the war
ended quite suddenly. In Oct. 1918, the Bulgarian army
troops refused to fight any longer. Germany’s Balkan front
collapsed. Allied armies began to advance (march forward)
without opposition.
The news of Bulgaria’s defection came as a stunning
(shocking) blow to the Kaiser and his military commanders.
Ordinary soldiers and sailors began to revolt. Army Officers
formed groups to fight the revolted troops and sailors, but
without success.
The Kaiser’s two principal army-commanders were
Hindenburg and Luddendorff. Seeing that the situation had
become unmanageable, they advised the Kaiser to escape to
neutral Holland. He fled, and Germany surrendered on 11th
Nov. 1918, at eleven in the morning.
The 1914 War had begun in the Balkans with an
assassination. Strangely, it was also a Balkan defection which
ended it in Nov.1918. Four empires, German, Austrian,
Russian and Turkish, vanished.
GERMANY AND AUSTRIA - HUNGARY ENDURE
DEFEAT

By the victory which will prove deceptive and fraudulent,
The two navies become one, Germany in revolt :
The leader murdered and his son kept in a tent,
Florence Imola under Rome also shaken by disturbance.
The 1918 termination of the war was not a victory but
only a truce, or a short interval in hostilities (fighting) . The
British navy took over the German navy at Scapa Flow in
the Orkney islands, north of Scotland. In Germany itself,
there was a Communist revolt in January 1919. Many
Germans wrongly believed that their country had been
stabbed in the back by Communist traitors.
Austria and Hungary were Germany's loyal partners in
the war. The Hungarian leader Count Tisza was murdered
when the war was lost. His son had to live in a tent as a
refugee. Hungary separated from the Austrian empire.
Austria itself became a republic, deposing its emperor.
Even in Italy, at Florence and Imola, there were angry
disturbances by Communist supporters. It became clear that
the 1914-1918 war would leave behind many unsolved
problems. Hence the seer calls its end as a fraudulent victory.
It decided nothing, and created new national rivalries.44
THE VERSAILLES TREATY OF 1919 LEADS TO

Lors les grands freres mort & dissension
Populated lands will become unhabitable,
Great disputes to secure open areas :
Countries delivered to prudent (cautious ) mediocrities,
Then the great brothers will die & disagreements begin.
The First World War was formally or officially ended on
28th June 1919, the fifth anniversary of the Balkan
assassination which started it. By the treaty of Versailles
(var-sai), signed in the palace of former French kings outside
Paris, Germany accepted defeat. But the German army was
left under its old commanders. They still believed that they
had not been beaten in battle.
Independence was given to small European nationalities
like Poles, the Czechs, and the Baltic peoples. They were
previously ruled by Germany or Austria or Russia. Hungary
too became a separate state. The map of Europe was
redrawn.
But the emergence( creation) of the new states led to bitter
border disputes, Minority groups were either persecuted or
expelled. These small successor (after- ward) states did not
realise that co-operation would benefit them all. Their leaders45
thought only of their own interests and never even considered
bold (brave) new policies for common benefit. They were
incapable of larger tasks. They were pettifoggers, quarrelling
over trifles, or small matters.
Ten years after the Versailles treaty was signed, two great
French leaders who had partly drafted it, passed away. The
great French Prime Minister, Tiger Clemenceau (1841-1929)
and Marshal Foch (1851-1929) had become internationally
renowned for their contributions to the Allied victory in 1918.
With their death, French politics disintegrated into
unimportant and petty dissensions or disagreements. France
was without able leadership.
Clemenceau was nick-named Tiger for his unconquerable
fighting-spirit. When in 1918, German invaders were again
nearing Paris, Clemenceau sternly declared :
“T shall fight them before Paris, I shall fight them inside
Paris, I shall fight them behind Paris;”
The Germans were prevented from reaching Paris.46
Chapter Two
NOSTRADAMUS AND THE SECOND WORLD WAR
Adolf Hitler ( 1889-1945) was the sole culprit for the
Second World War. If he had not become Germany’s dictator
(Fuhrer) in 1933, there would have been no war in 1939.
Hitler was an evil megalomaniac (one who thinks himself
above everybody else). He was murderous in his politics and
private life. Hitler’s ideology of hatred and violence was very
similar to Mohammed’s frenzy.
In 1931, Hitler shot his step-niece with whom he was
having an illicit liaison. In 1945, just before his own suicide,
he ordered the death of his wife’s brother-in-law Fegelein.
Hitler’s life was a long litany (recital) of conspiracy, cruelty
and crime beyond belief. He thirsted for the blood of innocent
people. Nostradamus calls him the Third Anti-Christ (see
Part One of this book).
Hitler wished to be called as Wolf by his friends and close
associates. Nostradamus with his uncanny power of seeing
the future with his inner eye, calls the German dictator by
his own chosen nickname of Wolf. Hitler was in reality a
mad-dog. His thirst for blood set the world on fire from
1939 to 1945.
ADOLF HITLER’S RISE AS DICTATOR OF
GERMANY IN 1933
Quatrain 33 - Century III

In the city where the Wolf enters
The enemies will be very close (near) :
A foreign army will burn up (gut) the great country.
To the walls & the Alps the Allies will pass.
Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany in 1933.
The First Part of this book, with the title Hindu Destiny In
Nostradamus, devotes an entire chapter to the demonic Nazi
dictator. Here only a few quatrains (four lined stanzas) will
be deciphered. The reader is strongly urged to read the
I Part. It will be an eye-opener to the uninformed.
With Hitler’s arrival in Berlin from Munich in 1933,
Germany began to prepare for another world war. In his
political manifesto as well as life-story, Mein Kampf (My
Struggle), Hitler had announced his war-like intentions long
before. Still, the nations of Europe failed to take his war-
mongering plans seriously. No sane man wanted another war.
But Hitler was not quite sane.
After invading Russia in 1941, Hitler found that his time-
table for conquests had failed before Moscow. In 1942, he
moved his head-quarters to the east to keep personal contact
with the Russian battle-front. But the Russians under Stalin
were not defeated. They pushed the German armies steadily
backward. Hitler shifted his head-quarters to Rastenburg in
east Germany. When even Rastenburg seemed likely to fall,
Hitler returned to Berlin in 1944. Nazi Germany, or the Third
Reich, as it was styled, was nearing its downfall then.48
At that time the Russian armies had become unstoppable.
They revengefully burnt up large parts of eastern Germany.
In the west, the Americans, the British and the resurrected
French (the Allies) breached the German defence-lines along
the Rhine. The Allied armies then marched towards the Alps.
Nazi Germany's fate was sealed. Hitler committed suicide in
1945 in Berlin when the Russians entered Germany’s capital.
The curious thing about this quatrain ( four-lined verse )
is its number. Hitler rose to power in 1933. This forecast is
also numbered 33. Coincidence ? Or clairvoyance ? The reader
will have to form his or her own verdict (judgement).
HITLER TRICKS OLD HINDENBURG & KILLS 3
CLOSE ASSOCIATES
Quatrain 36 - Century IX
Un grand roi prins entre les mains d’un Joine,
Non loing de paques, confusion coup cultre :
Perpet. captifs, temps que fouldre en la husne
Lorsque trois freres se blesseront & meurtre
A great leader manipulated by a young man,
Not far from Easter, confusion, rule of the knife :
Perpetual prisoners, and gunfire from watch-towers,
When three brothers are wounded & murdered.
When Hitler became chancellor of Germany in 1933, he
was only 44 years old. The president of Germany then was
Marshal Hindenburg. He was 86 (1847-1934). Hindenburg
was practically senile (old age’s second - childhood). An honest
man himself , he was no match for the cunning trickery of49
Adolf Hitler. Hindenburg was a commander who had become
president.
Easter is a Christian celebration which occurs around the
beginning of April. Hitler seized total power by keeping out
his opponents from voting on 23rd March 1933. His political
opponents were either exiled or detained in concentration-
camps. Surrounded by high walls with watch towers manned
by armed-guards, very few prisoners could hope to leave soon.
Concentration-camps were introduced because of the very
large number of political prisoners detained without any legal
authority. Might is Right. Such was Hitler’s motto.
Three of Hitler’s own former associates were against the
inhuman cruelty of Nazi (National Socialist) rule which
turned Germany into a vast prison. Schleicher, Strasser and
Roehm were important leaders. Still they were shot and
murdered on 30th June 1934. On that night more than 1300
political opponents were killed. The massacre was called the
“Night of the Long Knives”. Nostradamus very aptly calls it
the Rule of the Knife. The rule of law was ended.
President Hindenburg was too old and never fully
understood what was happening in his country. He died a
month later, and Hitler took over the presidency also. His
hold on Germany became unchallengeable. Military
preparations went on everywhere,
Kurt von Schleicher was an army general who had entered
politics. He was even chancellor (prime-minister) for a couple
of months just before Hitler’s rise to power. Gregor Strasser
was Hitler’s close friend and associate. Captain Roehm was50.
the chief organiser of Hitler’s storm-troops. These young
goons would beat up and scatter the Nazi leader’s opponents
and break-up their meetings. Without the help of those three
men, Hitler would never have become the prime-minister.
Yet, on the Night of the Long Knives, 30.6.1934, all three
were murdered in cold blood. Germany began to experience a
new dark age of barbarism.
The helpless Jewish community became Hitler’s chief
target. Mass-murders of Jews took place openly. Ultimately
Hitler and his Nazi accomplices massacred 6,000,000 Jews.
The victims included a million small children under twelve
years of age. The Jews were massacred because their blood
was supposed to be inferior. Hitler claimed that the Germans
were a Master-Race. He called them true Aryans.
HITLER’S DEVILISH REGIME SHOWS ITS TEETH
Quatrain 42 - Century I
Le dix Kalend d’Auril de faict Gothic,
Resuscite encor par gens malins :
Le feu estaint, assembly diabolic,
Cherchant les os du d'Amant & Pselin.
Ten days to the first of April see Gothic horrors,
Revived again by evil men :
The fire put out and the diabolic assembly (mob),
Searches for the bones of Amant & Psellus.
The first day of the Roman month was called the calend
(hence the word calendar). Ten days to the first April would
begin from 23rd March. This date was identified as long ago51
as 1672 by Garencieres, the first English translator of the
Centuries. Garencieres was a French-born doctor who had to
settle in England for his Protestantism.
Now for the facts of history :
The Goths were the ancestors of Germans. Hence this
concerns Germany. On the 23rd March, 1933, Hitler and his
Nazi followers passed the Enabling Act which made him the
all-powerful dictator of Germany, The German parliament is
known as the Reichstag ( reich stands for rajya in Sanskrit).
A month before, on 27th Feb, 1933, the Reichstag building
in Berlin had been gutted in a fire started by a mentally
deranged vagrant. Therefore the meeting of reichstag took
place in a church-hall in nearby Potsdam. The opponents of
Hitler’s National Socialist (Nazi) party were kept out by force.
Only Hitler’s agents were allowed to vote. As might be
expected, the vote was unanimous (without any
disagreement). The voting took place in a church; Christian
priests were generally in favour of Hitler. The future pope
Pius XII even signed a friendly concordat with the Nazi
demon.
Hitler’s men were expert criminals and murderers. The
seer accurately describes them as a diabolic (devilish) mob.
That was exactly what they were. In their efforts to spread
Hitler’s authority and doctrine of German superiority, they
resembled the followers of black magic. Michael Psellus was
a writer on black magic in the middle ages. He described the
several methods of making demons appear before men as
servants to do their bidding. The Nazi goons of Hitler were52
also like demons in their cunning and cruelty. They
massacred millions of men, women and children. The Nazi
dictator was certainly the most demonic of 20th Century
leaders.
Hitler got the Reichstag vote of 23rd March. On the lst
April, his Government began a campaign of hatred against
the Jews. They had committed no crime. They formed only
one percent of Germany’s population. Yet they had won 29
percent of Nobel prizes awarded to it. In spite of such
achievements, they were subjected to a horrible persecution.
From 23rd March to Ist April (both days inclusive), there are
10 days. In those 10 days in 1933, history was changed in
Germany.
In history, the Goths are regarded as destructive and
uncivilized. Hitler revived those traits by his unbelievably
inhuman policies. Even the Goths would have been appalled
(greatly shocked) by his inhumanity and blood-thirstiness.
The Goths were violent without being cunning. They were
hard-fighters and hard-drinkers. But not murderers.
Finally, the number of this quatrain is 42. It was in 1942
that Hitler decided to exterminate the helpless Jews of
Europe, Six million Jews fell victims to Nazi savagery. The
Hitler regime called it the Final Solution to the Jewish
problem. It remains the greatest blot on Germany. The First
Part of this book dwells upon it in detail.53
HINDENBURG’S SON’S DISHONEST DEAL
WITH HITLER
Quatrain 8 - Century IX
Puisnay Roi fait son pere metira a mort,
Apres conjlict de mort tres dishonest :
Escrit trouve soubson donra remort,
Quand loup chasse pose sur la couchette
The Junker leader will put his father to death.
After a severe and dishonest struggle :
Writings discovered bringing suspicion & remorse.
When the hounded wolf relaxes on the cushion.
Adolf Hitler was fond of being called Wolf in private. After
the Night of the Long Knives in which over 1300 suspected
opponents were done to death, Hitler had to satisfy the
demands of the regular German army. It wanted that its
privileges and prestige should not be affected. Hitler agreed
to the army commanders’ demand if he in turn was allowed
to take over the presidency also on Hindenburg’s death. The
latter was 87 and seriously ill. Hitler took over his post also
by dishonest means.
Hindenburg’s son Oscar von Hindenburg wanted a big
estate for himself. Hitler promised that he would grant him
Government land. Thereafter Oscar stopped protecting his
father’s interests. When Hindenburg died in August, 1934,
Hitler took over the presidency too. Oscar was granted an
estate.
He discovered afterwards that the Nazi dictator had made54
a secret agreement with the army-commanders. With their
support, Hitler treated Hindenburg’s son as a non-entity.
Oscar began to suspect Hitler’s honesty and felt remorse for
dealing with’him. But it was too late. Hitler was by then all-
powerful, secure as on a cushion.
The Junkers (yoonkers) were younger sons in Germany
who made their careers in the army. Later, senior army-
families came to be known as Junkers. It became the name
for a sizeable (considerable) community in east Germany.
The Junkers disappeared after the Second World War.
Hindenburg’s son died of remorse in 1960, aged 77. His estate
became part of Poland’s new territories.
HITLER’S ACCOMPLICE GENERAL FRANCO
NAMED!
Quatrain 16 - Century IX
De Casiel Franco sortira Vassembly,
Lambassadors non plaisant fera schism :
Ceux de Rivera seront en la melee,
Et an grand gulf denier ont entry.
From Castile Franco will bring his followers,
Ambassadors from other regions disagree causing a schism :
Those with Rivera will be in the armed clash,
And to the great gulf are denied (prevented) entry.
This must surely rank as one of the most unbelievable
predictions made in print. The CENTURIES were first
published in 1555. Gen. Franco was born in 1892. Could a
man’s name be known 337 years before his birth? The very55
suggestion is laughable. And yet, here it becomes a reality,
Gen. Franco died in 1975. His name was in print in 1555. No
greater proof is needed for the seer’s prevision. The Spanish
Fascist dictator was the youngest general in Burope after
Napoleon.
Gen. Franco started a rebellion against the Spanish
Government in July, 1936. The province (region) of Castile
immediately supported him. It was in Castile that a great
many young men joined his troops. They were led into battle
against Government troops in other regions. Some of the
representatives from those regions protested. There was a
schism or division among Franco's followers for a brief while.
Primo de Rivera, whose name also appears, was Gen.
Franco's political ally in the Spanish civil war (1936-1939).
After becoming Spain’s dictator, Franco refused to join
Hitler’s side in the Second World War. This was a great
disappointment to Rivera’s followers. They were eager to
fight.
But Franco was unsure that Hitler would win.
Consequently he remained neutral in that vast conflict.
Hitler died by his own hand in 1945. Franco died in bed in
1975. He ruled Spain for 36 years with a strong hand.
Nostradamus probably regarded this as reason enough for a
forecast. That he could predict even names of people unborn
is amazing. There are several such instances in the
CENTURIES. A few historians have been forthright enough
to admit the seer’s accuracy.56
FRANCE BUILDS THE MAGINOT LINE ALONG THE
RHINE IN VAIN
Quatrain 80 - Century IV
Pres du grand fleuve, grand fosse, terre egeste,
En quinze pars sera l’eau divisee :
La city prins, feu, sang, cries, conflict mettre,
Et la plus part concern au collisee.
Near the great river, a deep ditch, earth thrown up,
The river bank is divided into fifteen sections :
The city captured, fire, blood-shed, cries, battle fought,
And the larger part is involved in the collision.
France lost nearly 2 million dead in 1914-1918 out of a
population of just 40 million (4 crores). To prevent such
terrible blood-letting in future, the French war-minister
Maginot (Masheyno) ordered the construction of underground
forts along the Rhine frontier with Germany. This line of
fortifications came to be known as the Maginot Line. It was
begun in 1928. Even when completed, it left the north-eastern
section open.
In 1940, Hitler ordered the German army to attack
through Belgium, as in the 1914 war. The Maginot Line was
largely by-passed. There was very little fighting in front of it.
Its fortifications became useless.
The Germans swept through northern France while the
French army remained idle in the Maginot Line. Paris was
captured in June, 1940. German war-planes dropped bombs
from the air. There was blood-shed and lamentation (cries)57
as the battle of France was fought.
The fighting ended very quickly. France surrendered to
Hitler on 22nd June 1940. German troops occupied Paris and
the large area of north and western France. The country’s
Atlantic coast was also taken over. Only about a third of the
country’s area in the south was left nominally free. Its capital
was the southern town of Vichy.
The Vichy Government of French puppets (people obeying
others’ orders indirectly) was headed by Marshal Petain
(1856-1951). He was ironically enough, a French military
hero in 1918. In 1940, he became a puppet of Hitler; it was a
tragic reversal of fortune. He was a puppet not only of Hitler,
but of fate. A hero in one war, he became a pariah in another.
By defeating France in just six weeks, Hitler won a major
military triumph (victory). The British were driven out of the
mainland of Europe. Hitler felt that he could now attack
Russia with all his forces.
On 22nd June, 1941, on the first anniversary of France’s
surrender, Hitler invaded Russia. But the result turned out
to be totally different. The Russians fought like heroes and
chewed up the German armies even after suffering heavy
losses in the beginning.
HITLER INVADES RUSSIA & MEETS HIS DOOM
Quatrain 22 - Century IV
La grand copie qui sera deschassee,
Dans un moment fera besoing au Roi :
La foi promis de loing sera falsee,58
Nud se verra en piteous disarray.
The great army which had been chased (driven) away,
Will at one moment be needed by the ruler :
The trust promised from a distance will prove false.
The ruler finds himself nude in pitiable disarray.
On 22nd June 1941, Hitler’s Nazi armies invaded Russia.
The number of this prophetic quatrain is also 22. It could not
have been given at random. Nostradamus must have fore-
seen the exact date of the German invasion. It was also the
129th anniversary of Napoleon’s invasion of Russia.
Two years, earlier, in August 1939, Hitler had signed a
non-aggression (not attacking) pact with Russia’s Stalin. The
trust (faith) promised in that pact (treaty) by Berlin which is
quite far from Moscow was broken. The German invasion of
Russia was code-named Operation Barbarossa, after a
German emperor of the middle ages.
Stalin was normally very suspicious of promises. But as
fate would have it, he trusted Hitler’s promise of non-
aggression. He expected that Hitler’s Nazi hordes (large
armies) would be stopped by the Maginot Line on the French
frontier. But France surrendered after only 6 weeks of
fighting. Hitler could thus throw his entire armed might
against Russia. Hitler never kept any promise he had made.
Still Stalin trusted him to keep his word. It was the Russian
dictator’s costliest blunder. But it did not prove fatal. Great
good luck saved Russia.
When German armies numbering 3,500,000 men crashed59
through the Russian frontier, Stalin found himself in deadly
danger. His troops had been terribly weakened by a purge
(removal by force) of nearly 30,000 senior military officers.
Russia’s foremost soldier, Marshal Tukachevsky (1893-1937)
had been murdered on an unfounded suspicion of disloyalty.
Tukachevsky had started organising the Russian armies to
face an anticipated (expected) German Nazi invasion. With
his execution, all attempts at military re-organisation had
stopped. When Operation Barbarossa began, Stalin’s troops
were thrown into great disarray.
Stalin found himself wishing that the French army had
not surrendered so quickly. If there had been a second front
in the West, the Russians could have got some relief. As it
was, Hitler’s armies rapidly occupied one-third of European
Russia. Nearly 5,000,000 Russian soldiers were captured. It
looked as if the Nazi blitz-krieg (lightning quick) war-tactics
would again succeed. By using tanks and planes in
overwhelming numbers, the Germans had won swift victories
in Poland, France and the Balkan countries. They expected
another repetition in Russia.
But things worked out totally differently. Finding that
Hitler’s troops were murdering women, children and captured
soldiers who were prisoners of war, the people of Russia
decided to fight to the death. The bitter cold of the Russian
winter became their ally. Unaccustomed to such intense cold,
the German invaders faltered. On 7th December 1941, on the
very door-step or out-skirts of Moscow, the German advance
was stopped and thrown back. Hitler’s greatest gamble had60
failed. His fate was sealed.
Thereafter, there was never any prospect of a Russian
collapse. On the contrary, it was Nazi Germany which began
to suffer ever growing losses. Finally, in 1945, Germany
collapsed. Russian troops entered its capital Berlin.
In August 1940, when Russia was still in alliance with
Hitler, a psychic (clair-voyant) named Wolf Messing had
forecast in Moscow that within 5 years, Russian tanks would
be rumbling (moving heavily) through the German capital
Berlin. This prediction made head-lines in newspapers.
Hitler’s ambassador even made an official protest to Stalin.
The Russian leader replied by disclaiming responsibility for
Wolf Messing’s prophecy. Five years later, Russian tanks did
enter Berlin.
Hitler ought to have taken warning from Messing. But he
ignored him and invaded Russia. It proved to be his doom
(total destruction). He ought to have read Nostradamus, as
Goethe recommends,
Readers of the First part of this book will remember that
Nostradamus called Hitler the Third Anti-Christ. The seer
also fore-told that his politics of race (people of distinct
physical type) would end after 27 years in 1945. Hitler was
both deaf and blind to such warnings. He paid for it with his
life. Those whom the gods would destroy are first driven
mad.
On the same day that he was thrown back in front of
Moscow, 7th December 1941, Japan entered the war on his
side by attacking America and Britain in the Far East.61

On the morning of 7th December 1941, Japanese bombers
flying from air-craft carriers attacked the American naval
base at Pearl Harbour on Hawaii islands in the Pacific ocean.
Japan had become Hitler’s ally in 1937 by signing the Axis
pact with Germany and Italy. The Japanese are a brave and
disciplined nation. Their religion is called Shinto, a variant
of the name Hindu.
When Hitler attacked Russia on 22nd June, 1941, he
expected that Japan would attack the former Soviet Union
from the east. But this did not happen. The Japanese were
angry that they had not been told in advance of the invasion
of Russia.
But there was a more important reason as well. In 1939, a
border clash with Russian troops on the Mongolian border
had led to very heavy Japanese losses. The victorious Russian
commander was Marshal Zhukov (Zhukoff).62
In December 1941, Zhukoff was in-charge of the defence of
Moscow against the Nazi onslaught. Two months before, in
October 1941, Russia received a secret message from its ace
(top) spy Richard Sorge in Tokyo that Japan would not attack
Siberia (part of Russia) in the east. Sorge was a German
Communist who pretended to be a Nazi. He had got a job in
the German Embassy in Tokyo. His top-secret message
allowed Russia to withdraw its troops from its eastern
frontiers. This vital reinforcement came in the nick of time to
save Moscow. Sorge is one of the unsung heroes of the Second
World War.
Richard Sorge was caught later in 1944 by the Japanese
military police and shot. But Russia remembered his services
and issued a postal stamp in his honour after the war ended.
The Japanese attack on USA coincided with the German
defeat before Moscow. Many writers have charged Japan with
making a surprise attack. This is just poppy-cock (non-sense).
America had frozen Japanese assets in the USA on 26th July
1941. Thereafter war became a certainty. As a matter of fact,
the American commander at Pearl Harbour was dismissed
for negligence in making defence-preparations. Had the
Japanese attack been a surprise, there would have been no
punishment for the American commander.
After destroying many warships at Pearl Harbour, the
Japanese war-planes returned to their carriers. A second
attack was not mounted. Had that been done, the naval
installations at Pearl Harbour could have been totally wiped
out. This would have enabled the Japanese naval armada to63
sail on to the Panama canal and put it out of use. The
Panama canal was the sole link between the Pacific and
Atlantic fleets of the American navy. With that canal out of
commission, the Japanese navy could have secured mastery
over the Pacific ocean. The failure to attack the Panama
canal was a very serious blunder. The attack on America was
itself a suicidal folly. Japan could never have won.
The Americans quickly brought in their ships from the
Atlantic ocean through the Panama canal into the Pacific
ocean. An American warplane flying from an aircraft-carrier,
accidentally located a strong Japanese naval flotilla near the
Midway islands in June, 1942. At once, other American
planes were sent to attack the Japanese ships. Their crews
were taken off guard. The Japanese planes had returned to
their carriers just then for refuelling and re-armament.
The Japanese lost 4 aircraft-carriers and the Japanese
naval commander committed suicide. Survivors from the
sunken ships escaped in life-boats amidst great confusion
The battle of Midway stalled (stopped) further Japanese
advances in the Pacific. The Japanese navy never really
recovered from the loss of 4 air-craft carriers in the battle of
Midway. Japan's rising-sun flag began to sink.
NAZI GERMANY’S U-BOAT CAMPAIGN FAILS
Quatrain 15 - Century IV
D’ou pensera faire venir famine,
De la viendra la rassaiement ;
L’ oeil de la mer par avare canine,
Pour de Vun Vautre donra huile, froment.64
From where famine was expected to arrive,
From there will come replenishment (re-supply) ;
The eye of the sea, like a greedy dog,
Will watch as the one gives oil and wheat to the other.
The withdrawal of the bulk of the American Atlantic fleet
to meet the Japanese challenge in the Pacific gave a great
opportunity to Hitler (Nazi) Germany’s U-boats (submarines).
Britain is an island-nation, dependent upon imports to feed
its people. Petrol too had to be imported. England is poor in
natural resources. But its folk are brave, intelligent and
enterprising.
When the blitz-krieg (lightning-quick war) did not succeed
in Russia, Hitler turned to the west to deal with England.
More than two hundred U-boats (under-sea boats, or
submarines) were sent in groups called packs to sink the
cargo-ships bringing food and fuel to England from America.
These ships had to sail the Atlantic ocean for several days.
Though hundreds of ships were sunk, the Nazi effort
ultimately failed. British and American destroyer war-ships
and war-planes ended the U-boat danger. American wheat
and petrol continued to reach England. The periscopes of
submarines followed the ships like greedy-dogs.
NAZI DISASTER AT STALINGRAD & MUSSOLINI’S
ARREST
Quatrain 82 - Century II
Par faim la proye fera loup prisoner,
Lassailant lors en extreme distress :65
Le nay ayant au devant le dernier,
Le grand n’escape au milieu de la press.
By creating famine, the prey will imprison the wolf,
The assailant (attacker) then in great trouble :
The royal scion will come forward at last,
The great man cannot escape from the press of opponents.
The most important land-battle of the Second World War
was fought at Stalingrad in southern Russia. Hitler (whose
nick name for himself was Wolf) wanted to capture petrol-
wells near the Caspian Sea. In November 1942, a powerful
German army of 330,000 men attacked Stalingrad on the
Volga river. The Russian defenders stood their ground and
refused to retreat. The Nazi advance was halted. The
Russian’s were unbeatable.
Then the winter set in, and even the Volga River was
frozen. The German supply-columns could not reach the
hungry troops. Starvation and intense cold killed off
thousands of Germans. The attacking army became an
entrapped enemy.
Finally, after 3 months of very bitter fighting, the
remainder of the German army surrendered on 30th Jan.
1943. It was ironically the 10th anniversary of Hitler's rise to
power. Of the 330,000 Germans at Stalingrad, only 5,000
survived to return home in 1955.
Just 6 months later, Hitler’s Italian ally, Mussolini, also
faced disaster. American and British troops had occupied the
island of Sicily in the south. Mussolini’s power and prestige
disappeared. His own partymen turned against him.66
Italy in 1943 was ruled nominally by a king, even though
Mussolini was the real ruler. The king’s eldest son Prince
Umberto was a non-entity. But in July 1943, Umberto at last
demanded that he should be heard. This demand was
supported also by Mussolini's former henchmen. The king
secretly agreed to dismiss the dictator.
On 25th July 1943, Mussolini, the dictator of Italy, was
arrested in the presence of numerous opponents. They then
formed an alternative government. Mussolini was taken away
from Rome. Thus Nazi Germany lost its oldest ally. Yet Hitler
was determined to fight till the end. He did not wish to open
talks with his enemies. None trusted him because of his
record of broken pledges.
MUSSOLINI’S RESCUE FROM PRISON IN 1943
Quatrain 52 - Century VI
En lieu du grand qui sera condemn,
De prison hors son ami en sa place :
Lespoir Trojan en six mois joinct, mort nay,
Le Sol a V'urne seront prins, fleuves en glace.
In place of the great man who will be condemned,
From prison his friend will take him out to his post :
The hope of Italy for peace in six months, still-born,
Italy trapped in battles near burial-grounds, rivers frozen.
Italy was supposed to have been colonised by the Trojan
Prince Aeneas after the fall of Troy. For this reason,
Nostradamus often calls the Italians as Trojans. The voyage
of Aeneas from Troy to Italy is described in the Latin epic
Aeneid by Virgil, the Roman poet. Mussolini, the dictator of67
Italy, was taken to prison after his arrest on 25th July, 1943.
By deposing him, his own former associates hoped that they
could bring peace to Italy. They began negotiations with
America and England to stop the fighting on Italian soil.
But Adolf Hitler had other ideas. He wanted to rescue his
friend from prison. Mussolini was being held in a villa
(bungalow) on a hill called Gran Sasso in the Abruzzi
mountains in Central Italy. The chances of a rescue looked
very remote indeed.
But on 12th September 1943, Hitler sent 90 specially
trained commandos on a surprise raid. They landed in gliders
on the hill-slopes and seized the villa without meeting any
resistance. Mussolini was rescued and flown to Germany to
meet Hitler. The rescue was an act of great daring. However,
Mussolini became Hitler’s puppet thereafter. The Italian
hopes of an early peace ended when Mussolini was re-
established in the north with German help. Hitler’s armies
entered Rome and severe fighting began with American and
British troops. Indian soldiers also took part in the fighting.
Sepoy Kamal Ram won the Victoria Cross, the highest British
award for bravery, by killing many Nazis. The lull in fighting
had lasted for only six months. Thereafter, Italy remained a
battle-ground till the war’s end.
Many of the most important battles were fought near
burial-grounds of saints and monks. Their bones had been
kept in urns, or burial-pots. The most famous cemetery was
at Monte Cassino. It saw some of the heaviest fighting.68
PETAIN’S VICHY FRENCH REGIME ENDS IN 1944
Quatrain 61 - Century IV
Le Vieux mocque & prive de sa place,
Par estrangier qui le subornera ;
Mains de son fils mangees devant sa face,
Le frere a Chartres, Orleans, Rouen trahira..
The old man mocked and deprived of his position,
By the foreigner who will suborn his underlings :
The hands of his sons are eaten up before his face,
The brother at Chartres, Orleans, Rouen betrayed.
It will be recalled that Marshal Petain was made the ruler
of unoccupied France with Vichy as its capital in 1940.
Marshal Petain was 84 years old and was nicknamed Le
Vieux (The Old Man). Nostradamus uses the same nick-name
in the first line of this forecast to identify Petain.
The old Marshal was constantly reminded by Hitler that
he was only a puppet and nothing more. The arms and
equipment of his troops were taken away without reference
to him. The Vichy government became a partner in Nazi
tyranny. Petain was ridiculed by Germans and bitterly
detested by his own country-men.
On 6th June 1944, the Americans and the British landed
on the Normandy beaches in northern France. Hitler’s armies
were driven back. The Allied advance was quite rapid. Many
French soldiers also took part in the fighting calling
themselves the Free French. Their leader was General de
Gaulle.69
On 19th August 1944, the Americans and the Free French
liberated the towns of Chartres, Orleans and Rouen. Petain
betrayed them by not trying to help them against the
Germans. Still, he was arrested by the Germans and carried
off to Germany immediately afterwards.
When the war ended in 1945, Petain was brought back to
France. He was tried before a military court as a traitor.
Owing to his great age, he was not hanged. Petain died in
prison in 1951 at the age of 95. The Vichy episode marks a
dark chapter in French history.
HITLER’S EARLY VICTORIES & FINAL DEFEAT
FORECAST
Quatrain 94 - Century V
Translatera en la grand Germany,
Brabant & Flanders, Ghent, Bruges & Boulogne :
La truce feint, le grand duc d’Armenia,
Assailira Vienna & Cologne.
He will transfer into the Greater Germany
Brabant & Flanders, Ghent, Bruges & Boulogne :
The truce pretended, the great ruler of Armenia,
Will assault Vienna & Cologne.
The first two lines of this four-lined prophecy were fulfilled
in 1940. Hitler occupied Belgium and France where the towns
named in the second line are situated. Boulogne is a leading
French port. It also came under German occupation in 1940.
The. last two lines predict Hitler's complete overthrow
which occurred in 1945. He had signed a non-aggression (no70
attack) treaty with Russia in 1939. He broke the agreement
in 1941. The pact was only a pretence to gain time. It did not
mean peace, but only a short truce.
Armenia was a part of Soviet Russia in 1941. Stalin was
therefore the ruler of Armenia also. Four years after the
German invasion, Stalin’s armies entered Germany from the
east. The German forces could not stop them. Russian troops
occupied Vienna, in Austria, which had been taken over by
Hitler in 1938. Two months later, they captured Germany’s
capital Berlin, in May 1945. Hitler committed suicide to
escape Russian captivity. His wife died with him. When
Nostradamus wrote this prophecy 390 years earlier in 1555,
Berlin was a small village. Cologne, on the Rhine river, was a
leading city. The seer has named it to indicate that Germany's
leading city would fall to the attacking Russians. In 1945, it
was Berlin which was the leading city of Germany.
THE SECOND WORLD WAR ENDS IN 1945
Quatrain 45- Century IV
Par conflict Roi regne abandonnera,
Le plus grand chief faillira aw besoing:
Mors, profligez, peu en rechapera,
Tous destranches, un en sera tesmoing.
Due to war, the ruler will abandon his country,
An even greater leader fails when most needed:
Dead, defeated, very few will escape,
All cut down , except one who will be a witness.
In April 1945, Mussolini, the puppet-ruler of northern7”
Italy, tried to escape to Germany. Disguising himself as a
German’ soldier, he travelled with other German soldiers in
an army truck.
He was however detected by his enemies on the 28th April
1945. They arrested and shot Mussolini without any delay.
His corpse was hung upside down in a Milan square.
Two days later, Mussolini’s real master Hitler was forced
to commit suicide. Russian armies had already entered
Berlin, and Hitler was afraid that he might fall into their
hands. He had married his long-time mistress Eva Braun on
29th April. Early next morning, they both killed themselves.
Hitler died when his followers needed him most. His suicide
demoralised his armies. They surrendered quickly.
The total collapse of Italy and Germany led to the deaths
of millions of civilians and soldiers. Few escaped loss or
injury. The political creations of the two dictators were all
wiped out. Nazism as an ideology disappeared along with
Hitler.
‘There was only one man in Hitler’s camp who survived
the disaster. He was General Franco of Spain. Fuhrer Hitler,
Duce (doochay) Mussolini and Caudillo (leader) Franco were
part of the Axis group of leaders. Franco alone remained as a
witness. He was luckier than his senior-partners.
Finally, another interesting coincidence. The Second World
War ended in 1945. This quatrain is also numbered 45.72
Chapter Three
NOSTRADAMUS AND AMERICA
When Nostradamus published his CENTURIES at Salon
in southern France in 1555, there was not a single English-
speaker in America. To-day English is the principal language
of the North American continent. Needless to say, the seer
foresaw its Anglicisation.
As this happens to be only the Second Part of a book on
Nostradamus, the reader ought to get acquainted with the
contents of the First Part as well. It provides some valuable
information about America’s rise.
UNITED STATES BREAK AWAY FROM BRITAIN IN
1775
Quatrain 57 - Century III
Sept fois changer verrez gent Britannique,
Taints en sang en deux cens nonante an:
Franche non point, par appuy Germanique,
Aries doubt son Pole Bastarnin.
The British nation will be seen to change seven times,
Stained with blood in two hundred & ninety years:
There will be no support for freedom in Germany,
The Turkish caliphs will find Russia transformed.
The clue to the interpretation of this forecast lies in the
words “Stained with blood”. In other words, the seer is
enumerating violent revolutions occurring in England (later
Britain) over a period of 290 years.73
A violent change of kingship occurred at the battle of
Bosworth (August, 1485). The then English king Richard HI
was killed and Henry VII of a rival dynasty (family) became
king. This was certainly a blood-stained change. The English
crown had actually fallen on a bush at Bosworth.
The reader may object that this change occurred long
before the publication of the forecast. How can it be taken
into account ?
The answer is simple. The 70 years preceding publication
of the forecast form less than a fourth of the period specified
therein. The 7 changes that the seer foresaw therefore may
be listed as follows:
1. 1485- Battle of Bosworth. The Tudor dynasty begins
to rule England.
2. 1533- Henry VIII breaks away from Rome. Roman
i Catholics burnt alive publicly. The king goes on
to marry six wives, one after another.
3. 1553- Henry’s daughter Mary restores Roman
Catholicism. Protestants burnt alive publicly.
4 1558- Mary's step-sister, Elizabeth, becomes
Protestant-queen: It is again the turn of
Catholics to get burnt in public. Hindus burn
only their dead. Christians burn the living with
religious zeal. Yet they claim to be morally
superior.
5. 1649- British King Charles J has his head cut off in
public. Oliver Cromwell becomes dictator in74
London.
6. 1688- Charles I’s son James II is exiled for his cruelty
to Protestants, after Sedgemoor battle
7. 1775- (April) -America breaks away from Britain
after winning the battle of Bunker Hill near
Boston. The United States declares its
independence on 4th July, 1776. It becomes a
republic. The Bunker Hill battle is often called
the shot heard around the world.
From the above it will be seen that the seer is very exact
in his calculations. He has also declared that his prophecies
extend up to 3797.
While Britain was changing and expanding, personal
freedom disappeared in Germany. This was due to religious
conflicts between the rival Christian sects of Catholics and
Protestants. Half of Germany’s population died in the Thirty
Years’ War (1618 - 1648). Thereafter Germans made no effort
to assert their civic rights.
The last line of the quatrain concerns Turkey and Russia.
They were hostile neighbours. Peter the Great (1672-1725)
transformed Russia and pushed back Turkey. Aries, or the
ram (male sheep) represents Moslem power in the Centuries.
Bastarnae were people of western Russia in ancient times.75
NEGRO SLAVERY ENDS IN AMERICA
& MEXICO’S ORDEAL
Quatrain 87 - Century II
Apres viendra des extremes countries,
Prince Germain, dessus le throne dore:
La servitude et eaux rencontrees,
La dame serve, son temps plus n’adore.
Afterwards will come from very distant countries,
A German prince upon the golden throne:
Slavery will be washed away by the waters,
The Catholic Church will be controlled, and no longer adored.
America became free on the 4th July 1776. But there was
no freedom for the Negro slaves forcibly brought from Africa
to work on cotton-plantations. For nearly ninety years,
American whites were free but the Blacks were slaves. They
could be bought and sold like animals.
Over the issue of Negro slavery, a bitter civil was broke
out in America (1861-1865) when Abraham Lincoln became
President. Lincoln (linken) abolished slavery in 1863. He was
assassinated in 1865. It was Lincoln (linken) who defined
democracy as the governmeiit of the people, by the people,
and for the people.
While the Americans were fighting among themselves, the
French ruler Napoleon III tried to create an empire in
Mexico. It is a country to the south of the United States. In
1864, an Austrian - German prince named Maximilian (1832
- 1867) was brought from distant Austria to become Mexico’s76
emperor. The Mexican throne in former days was made of
gold. Maximilian’s throne however was not so gaudy. Neither
was it firmly established.
In 1865, the American civil-war ended. Negro slavery was
swept away and American rivers no longer transported
Negroes for sale. Maximilian’s Mexican empire was
overthrown after America compelled Napoleon III to take
back French troops supporting the Austrian prince
Maximilian was caught and shot. The Roman Catholic
Church lost its official position.
This quatrain has never been properly explained till now.
Interpreters invariably apply it to the arrival of a German
dynasty in 1714 in England. But Germany is not very far
from England. And there was never any problem of slavery.
Yet the mistaken interpretation is found in almost every
commentator of the Centuries.
PRESIDENT HARDING DIES AMIDST SCANDAL
(1923)
Quatrain 14 - Century VIII
Le grand credit d’or, d’argent l’abundance,
Fera aveugler par libide honour :
Sera cogneu d’aduliery Voffence,
Qui parviendraaa son grand dishonour.
The great credit of gold and abundance of silver,
Will cause lust to become blind to honour :
When the offence of adultery becomes known,
It will bring great dishonour to the culprit. (Adultery is77
different from adulteration, or mixing impurities).
The United Stated of America is a presidential democracy.
Every 4 years, a presidential election is held (in the leap
years usually). America’s first president was George
Washington. He was elected in 1788, and re-elected in 1792.
He was in office for two terms. America’s capital city is named
after him.
This prophecy concerns the career of Warren Harding
(1865 - 1923), the 29th President of the United States. In
1914, he gained national prominence by getting elected as
senator. This quatrain is also numbered 14. Those who wish
to do so may call it a coincidence. But it is almost certainly
second-sight, or clairvoyance.
Warren Harding became president after winning the
election in 1920. He was a newspaper- editor with a
termagant for his wife. His wife Florence was a strong-willed
woman who kept her husband under her thumb. He had to
take orders from her.
As so often happens, the hen-pecked husband sought
relaxation outside his home. Warren Harding became an
adulterer to escape his domineering, childless wife. But he
was discreet: in his liaisons. He even became the father of a
natural child without his wife’s knowledge. His closest
associates knew that he was a rake. But they kept mum.
When Harding was sworn in as America’s 29th President
in 1921, his country had become the world’s richest land.
Europe was still reeling (greatly shaken) from the terrible78
destruction of the First World War. American war-supplies to
Europe had brought tremendous profits. Europe owed
America many billions of dollars as war-debts. The dollar
became the world’s strongest currency. Gold and silver
reserves piled up in U.S banks. America’s streets were
supposed to be paved with gold.
President Harding was completely unfitted for the high
post of America’s president. He spent his time playing poker
(card-game) and secretly meeting his mistresses. His
government included many dishonest politicians, Several of
them were later either dismissed or imprisoned. There was a
great political scandal. It was followed by a personal scandal.
Harding’s wife came to know of his illegitimate child in
1923. In a fit of rage she poisoned him while he was returning
by ship from Alaska. Harding died in 1923 in San Francisco.
Soon afterwards, his adulteries became public knowledge.
His name was posthumously dishonoured. No effort was
made to investigate his mysterious death.
Warren Harding was by no means the first American
president to practise adultery (sex outside the marriage bed).
But he was the first to be exposed as a habitual womaniser.
His widow got off scot-free (let off without punishment for an
offence).79
BIRTH OF THE KENNEDY BROTHERS &
AMERICA’S GROWTH
Quatrain 97 - Century VIII
Aux fins du VAR changer le pempotans,
Pres du rivage les trois beaux enfanis naisire :
Ruin au people par aage competans,
Regne ay pays changer plus voir croistra.
At the end of VAR a shift in world-supremacy,
Near the river -bank the three fine children are born:
People become ruined when they are of age.
Government in the country is seen to change & grow.
VAR here is not a name, but an acronym, or a word
formed by the first letters of several words. NATO is an
example. It stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
Likewise, VAR is an acronym for Versailles Armistice
Regime. It was at Versailles palace outside Paris that the
First World War was officially ended in 1919.
Pempotans is a hybrid-word made from Greek Pan-all,
and Latin Potens-Powerful. In Quatrain 100, Century X,
Nostradamus had forecast that England would enjoy world-
supremacy for over 300 years. The quatrain has been
interpreted at length in the First Part of this Book, titled
HINDU DESTINY IN NOSTRADAMUS. The reader should
peruse it.
But by 1917, even before the war ended, British
supremacy had disappeared. It was only America’s entry into
the war in April, 1917, that prevented a German victory.80
Thereafter, the United States became the most powerful
country in the world. Its people are very enterprising. Its
natural resources are immense. America is a nation of
immigrants from almost every country. It is called the
melting-pot of nations.
The second line is a forecast about the Kennedy brothers.
They have been the foremost political family in American
history. The Kennedys were born in Boston city, situated close
to the Charles river. John Kennedy, born in 1917, became
American President in 1961. He was assassinated in 1963.
John Kennedy was the only Roman Catholic to become US
president. His only son died in an air-crash in 1999.
His younger brother, Robert Kennedy, was also
assassinated in 1968. The youngest, Edward Kennedy, has
been an American senator for nearly 40 years. John Kennedy,
incidentally, was the youngest man ever to be elected U.S.
president at the age of forty-three.
American prosperity took a sudden nose-dive in Oct. 1929,
when the great depression began. To deal with that economic
crisis, in 1932 America elected Franklin Delano Roosevelt as
president. He had to move about in a wheel-chair due to
paralysis in the legs. He was physically handicapped.
Yet FDR, as he was popularly known, fulfilled the hopes
reposed in him by his supporters. He was also keen on India’s
independence. Swami Vivekananda’s visit in the 1890’s had
made a deep impact on American public opinion.
During his tenure of 12 years, the longest for any81
American head of state, America changed beyond recognition.
It abandoned isolationism, or aloofness in world affairs. Its
military and economic might made it the greatest country in
the world. World supremacy passed to it.
It was in recognition of America’s paramount position that
the United Nations Organisation (UNO) located its head-
quarters in New York city in 1945.
PRESIDENT KENNEDY’S ELECTION &
ASSASSINATION
Quatrain 43 - Century X
Le trop bon temps, trop de bonte royal,
Fait & de fait, prompt, subit negligence:
Legier croira faux d’espouse loyal,
Lui mis a mort par sa benevolence.
Too much of good times, too much of royal good-will,
Made and unmade, by sudden and hasty negligence :
Lightly believes false his faithful wife,
Her benevolence (unwittingly) leads to his death.
John Kennedy won the American presidential election in
1960 when he was only 43 years old. This quatrain also
carries the number 43. Since such seeming coincidences are
too many, it is safe to assert that clairvoyance is at work.
America is a republic, or a country without a king. Why
then the use of the word “royal” suggesting a throne in the
first line? Strange as it may seem, the Kennedys were
popularly known as America’s own royal family. All of them
were well known. And many of them held important82
government jobs. Kennedy’s presidency (1961 -1963) was
praised as a golden age. He was young, handsome and
brilliant.
But the American golden age suddenly ended in November
1963 when President Kennedy was shot and killed by an
assassin. Kennedy’s car did not have a protective plastic
bubble-top at that time. It had been removed to give the
public a clear view.
Like President Harding, Kennedy was also a womaniser.
This led to frequent tiffs with his young and beautiful wife.
Still she agreed to travel with him. The crowds were eager to
see her and the car’s bubble-top was removed. Unwittingly,
her benevolence led to her husband's assassination.
John Kennedy was the only Roman Catholic to occupy the
White House in Washington. The White House is the official
residence of American Presidents in Washington city.
Kennedy’s rise in U.S politics was as sudden as his violent
death at only 46 years of age. The Golden Age or Camelot, as
the Americans liked to call it, ended all too soon.
John Kennedy was a staunch friend of India. When the
Communist Chinese troops attacked Indian border-posts in
the Himalayas in 1962, America under Kennedy rescued
India by warning off the Chinese. Kennedy's private life was
squalid, but his political achievements were splendid. It was
exactly the opposite with his bitter rival Richard Nixon. His
private life was blameless, but his public life was full of
scandals.83
RICHARD NIXON’S CRIME-RIDDEN PRESIDENCY
Quatrain 13 - Century VI
Un dubieux ne viendra loing du regne,
La plus grand part le voudra soustenir;
Un Capitol ne voudra point gu’il regne,
Sa grand charge ne pourra maintenir,
A dubious character will not be far from the establishment,
A great majority will wish to sustain him;
A Capitol will not desire to support his rule,
He will not be able to maintain his high office.
This quatrain is numbered 13. Richard Nixon, the 37th
President of America was born in 1913. This provides a clue
to the decipherment of the forecast.
The familiar or pet form of Richard is Dick. Richard (Dick)
Nixon was always a dishonest or dubious character. He was
nick-named Tricky Dick by friend and foe alike. Nixon was
always eager to trick or cheat others. At heart, he was a
crook.
Despite his dishonesty, Richard Nixon rose rapidly in U.S.
politics. At the age or 34, he was a member of the American
legislature. At 38, he become a senator by winning in a
thoroughly disgusting election-campaign against a woman
named Helen Douglas. Nixon himself described his tactics as
“a rocking, socking, campaign”. And that too, against a
woman.
At the early age of 40, Nixon became America’s Vice-
President. He visited India shortly afterwards, but failed to84
create a favourable impression. Jawaharlal Nehru summed
him up as an unprincipled cad (opposite of gentleman). For
his part. Nixon was equally repelled by Nehru’s vanity and
superior airs. On his return to America, Nixon arranged for
massive military aid to Pakistan to make it a threat to India.
In 1971, he even sent the American navy to try to rescue
Pakistan. India had intervened militarily to rescue
Bangladesh from Pakistani army’s genocide. The Pakis had
massacred 3,000,000 helpless civilians.
Even while continuing as Vice-President, in 1960, Nixon
challenged John Kennedy for the American presidency. He
lost by a very narrow margin. After Kennedy’s assassination,
he bounced back and became President in 1969. In
appearance, Nixon was unattractive. In behaviour, he was
detestable. Still, he became America’s 37th President. Decent
Americans openly scorned him as an unmitigated bounder.
He had close contact with cheats and thugs. His crony Robert
Vesco stole pension-funds from retired Americans.
In 1972, Nixon was re-elected by the largest land-slide
victory in US history. But during that election-campaign.
Nixon had secretly ordered his minions to commit a burglary
at his opponents’ head-quarters in Watergate building in
Washington. The burglars (thieves) were caught red-handed
(in the act). Dick Nixon's guilt soon became manifest. The
Watergate burglary shocked and outraged even Nixon’s
backers.
The American legislature-building is called the Capitol.
The representatives and senators meet there. They decided85
that Nixon should either resign or face prosecution. Faced
with the prospect of going to jail, Tricky Dick Nixon resigned.
He is the only American President to have resigned from his
high post. The last line of the prediction by Nostradamus
clearly indicates that Nixon would quit in disgrace.
Ex-President Nixon died in 1994, aged eighty-one. The
last twenty years of his life were spent in a vain effort to
regain his lost reputation. His Vice-President too was sent
packing for taking bribes. Nixon’s presidency is a sorry
chapter that America would rather forget. The Seer of Salon
had foreseen how shamefully it would end.
AMERICA AND ENGLAND COME TO-GETHER
AGAIN
Quatrain 66 - Century X
Le chef de Londres par regne l’Americh,
Lisle de l’Ecosse tempiera par gellee :
Roi Reb aurant un si faux anti-christ,
Que les mettra trestous dans la melee.
The head in London sent by American government,
The island of Scotland softened by extreme cold :
The American from south will face such a foul Anti-Christ,
That all will exert their utmost efforts in the struggle.
This is certainly an ominous (danger-indicating) forecast.
This is also the only place where Nostradamus mentions
America. As remarked earlier, when the seer of Salon
breathed his last in 1566, there was not even a single
English-speaker in the New World (north and south America).86
England will be greatly weakened by an evil tyrant who
will also be dead-set against Christianity. In the seer’s
reckoning, there have been 3 major Anti-Christs so far.
Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was the first. Karl Marx,
the propounder of Communism was the second. The third
Anti-Christ was Hitler. All worked against the interests of
Christianity. The first part of this book provides a detailed
account of their strange and sinister careers. Still, all three
realised that Christianity is only a superstition. Interestingly,
while foreseeing the down-fall of Christianity. Nostradamus
also predicts the complete extermination of Islam.
The Christian-opposing ruler who will be menacing
England will be so powerful that America will again come to
its rescue. In 1917, and again in 1941, it was America’s entry
into the two world wars against Germany that saved England
from defeat. Since Scotland will have asserted its
independence from London, as explained in the First Part of
this book, England will be in no position to defend itself.
America will therefore be compelled to nominate a ruler in
London. When that happens, history will have come full
circle. In the 18th century, Britain ruled America. In the
early 21st century, the roles will be reversed. America will
rule England.
In the American civil-war (1861-1865), the rebellious
Southerners were called Johnny Rebs. Nostradamus also
styles the American ruler in London as Reb. It is a clear
indication that the American will be from the southern region
of the United States.87
His task, however, will not be easy. The anti-Christ will be
so powerful that everyone in England will strive their hardest
to beat him off. Scotland too will moderate (or temper) its
opposition to London after experiencing very severe cold
weather. The help given by the American governor will bring
about a softening of its antipathy to England.
There are other quatrains in the Centuries which foretell
a political union between America and England. These will
be examined in later chapters in due course.88
Chapter Four
NOSTRADAMUS - A PEN-PORTRAIT
The reader who has come so far in this book will be curious
to know what kind of person Nostradamus was. It is quite
natural, since none else in history has made such accurate
forecasts, about such a large number of events, spanning
such a long period of time.
Michel de Nostradamus was born at the tiny town of St.
Remy in southern France on Thursday, 14th December, 1503.
His family was Jewish. But his parents had been forcibly
converted to Christianity in 1501. Still, Jewish beliefs and
traditions prevailed in the family when Nostradamus was
born in 1503.
In his introduction to the Centuries, the seer confesses
that he inherited the prophetic faculty from his Jewish
forebears. Numerous stories have been handed down over
the years to show how readily his inner-eye worked. The
following funny anecdote will serve as an example :
One evening, after he had settled down at Salon,
Nostradamus, by then middle-aged, was sitting in front of
his house when a young girl happened to pass by. She was
going to a wood adjoining to collect twigs for fuel. At least,
ostensibly.
On seeing the seer, the young girl greeted him, “Good
evening, Dr. Nostradamus”, she called out. The seer looked
up from the book he was reading. “Good evening, young lady’,
he replied.89
An hour or so passed. It was getting dark when the young
girl again went by on her way home. “Good night, Dr.
Nostradamus”, she called out. The seer looked up.
Instantaneously, his clairvoyance began to work. He realised
that she had changed. “Good night, young wife”, he replied
with a knowing twinkle in his eyes. Second-sight had told
him that the girl was returning from a tryst or assignation
with her lover. She was no longer a virgin. She hurried away
on hearing him, confused and abashed. The seer smiled.
This amusing little tale may or may not be true. But the
very fact that it is still recounted is testimony to the deep
impression created by Nostradamus on his contemporaries.
Skepticism (doubt) was silenced by the amazing accuracy of
his forecasts. Nearly 300 years later, the great German
dramatist Goethe (1749-1832) observed that futurity could
be known from the pages of the Centuries.
As a child, Nostradamus was coached by his grand-father.
He learnt Hebrew, the language of the Jews, as well as Latin,
Greek and mathematics. He was also initiated into the
mysteries of astrology. It is clear that Nostradamus must
have been a child-prodigy. He returned to his parental home
on his grand-father’s death. The family was quite well-to-do.
All his life, the seer was never tight-fisted, or miserly.
At the age of seventeen, Nostradamus was sent to Avignon,
a fairly large town, to study law. He was far in advance of his
contemporaries in his intellectual development. He knew that
the earth went round the sun, and not vice-versa. The great
Indian astronomer Aryabhata had made this clear as early90
as 499 C.E. Greeks in antiquity had also reached the same
conclusion. But in the Christian Bible, it is declared that the
earth is the centre of the universe. Any rejection of this belief
becomes heresy. More than a hundred years after
Nostradamus completed his student-days, Galileo was
declared an offender by the pope of Rome for his belief that
the earth went round the sun. The Moslem holy-book, the
Koran , like the Christian Bible, also declares that the sun
goes round the earth. This message is claimed to have come
direct from God.
When Nostradamus, with the frankness (openness) of
youth, began to express opinions which went against the
Bible, his parents were terrified. In those days, the Roman
Catholic Church maintained a system of religious courts
called the Inquisition. Any opposition to the Christian
superstition was punished with torture (cruel bodily injury)
or death. Those condemned to death were burnt alive in
public. It has been estimated that the Inquisition courts
caused thirty million men and women to be murdered in the
name or Christianity. Still the Christians falsely claim that
their religion preaches love and mercy. It does nothing of the
sort.
Nostradamus came from a recently-converted Jewish
family. If he had been arrested by an Inquisition court, his
fate could have been quite grim (dangerous). His family
therefore recalled him from Avignon before he had taken his
law-degree. The extraordinary youth was sent instead to
Montpellier to study medicine. That was in 1522. Montpellier
has never had a more famous alumnus in all the years since.1
Nostradamus was nineteen when he began his medical
studies. Montpellier in those days enjoyed a great reputation
as a centre of medical education. By modern standards, of
course, it was only quackery. It is said that remedies of
medieval Europe were frequently deadlier than the diseases
they were intended to heal. Even till 1900, Western medicine
was little better than elaborate quackery. Till aspirin was
formulated in 1900, pigeon-feathers stuck in hat-bands were
believed to cure head-aches.
Despite such risky instruction, Nostradamus did not
become a quack (unqualified doctor). He had a keen mind,
and prepared remedies of his own for many illnesses. His
reputation as a physician began to grow even before he took
his degree.
In 1525, an outbreak of plague in southern France
interrupted normal life. Many thousands died. People fled in
panic from their homes. The medical college at Montpellier
was closed for a timie. Generously, Nostradamus decided to
use his knowledge of medicine to fight the epidemic. Using
methods and remedies of his own, he was remarkably
successful. He was a genuine healer, just as later he was to
blossom into a genuine seer.
When the plague epidemic abated, it was time for
Nostradamus to return to Montpellier to receive his medical
degree. In 1529, when he was twenty six, he was formally
conferred the degree of doctor of medicine. By that time he
had made friends with Julius Scaliger, a leading poet and
patron who was living at the town of Agen not far from92
Montpellier. Scaliger invited him to set up his medical
practice at Agen. Nostradamus readily agreed. With his
healing-touch, he would have flourished anywhere as a
physician. When he died in 1566, he left behind no less than
3,444 gold-coins.
The newly established doctor became an instant success
at Agen. Nostradamus did not confine himself to the remedies
prescribed in the worthless text-books of those times. In fact,
they were not remedies at all, but aggravations of maladies.
Using his own knowledge and experience, Nostradamus cured
the patients who thronged his clinic in large numbers. Along
with popularity came prosperity. He became sufficiently
affluent to marry a beautiful well-born local damsel. She
bore him two sons. Life for Nostradamus seemed full of
promise. Fame, fortune and felicity all seemed to smile upon
him.
But the dreaded plague epidemic returned in 1535.
Nostradamus’s wife and children were carried off by the
pestilence. His rivals in the medical fraternity began to
ridicule his claims to be a healer. What, the jealous rival
doctors asked, was the utility of his original remedies if they
could not save his own wife and offspring ? It was not an
easy question to answer. The real remedy for plague was not
discovered till 1924, when an Indian doctor working in
America, Dr. Yellapragadha Subba Rao, produced tetra-
cycline.
Plague has probably killed more people than all the wars
in history combined. The pestilence has profoundly altered93
the lives of families and nations. Nostradamus was shattered
(broken up) in spirit when he found that his own wife and
children were no more. By that time, his friend and patron
Julius Scaliger had also become jealous of his success and
affluence. Temporarily Nostradamus decided to leave his
profession. With a ruck-sack on his back, and with little other
luggage, he went away from Agen. He wandered across the
border into Italy, hoping that a change of scene would help
him recover from the loss of his family. Alone and
unrecognised, he travelled on foot as far as the southern tip
of the Italian peninsula. His wanderings lasted several years.
Wherever he went, he met local doctors (or quacks) and
observed their methods and remedies. All his life, his quest
for knowledge never ceased.
There was yet another reason for Nostradamus to leave
France for a while. The Christian community in Europe had
become sharply, and even violently, divided over the position
of the pope of Rome. Roman Catholics claimed that he was
the vicar, or deputy of Christ. Protestants, who had just
emerged under the inspiration of Martin Luther (1483-1546)
of Germany, on the other hand, charged that the pope was
only an agent of the devil. There is much substance in the
Protestant accusation. Most of the popes have been frauds or
worse. Every pope is required to be a bachelor; unfortunately,
quite a few popes were sons of bachelors. Popes Hormisdas
and Silverius were father and son.
French Protestants were called Huguenots. The Catholic
Inquisition - courts were arresting and torturing or killing
suspected or real Huguenots. A complaint had been made to94
an Inquisition court that Nostradamus was a Huguenot. A
summons was issued to him to appear before it. Nostradamus
knew that if he went to Toulouse to face the Inquisition, he
would never return. He therefore evaded the Inquisition
summons by touring Italy on foot.
The plague was a pestilence carried by rats. The
Inquisition was another form of deadly epidemic or pestilence
created by Roman Catholic Christian rats. It killed thirty
million helpless victims over a period of several hundred
years. Many more millions became the victims of cruel and
inhuman tortures (very painful physical punishment).
Christianity is really a curse on mankind. Fortunately,
Nostradamus predicts that it will sink to the level of a
discredited cult shortly.
Even when he was wandering from place to place in Italy,
the prophetic faculty was still active in Nostradamus. While
he was walking along a rough village- path, he saw a young
Roman Catholic priest approaching from the other side.
Instantaneously, Nostradamus’s inner-eye told him that the
young priest coming towards him would some-day become
pope. The middle-aged doctor waited till the young priest
was sufficiently near. Then he knelt (went down on his knees)
before him. It was a totally unexpected act of homage (deep
respect).
The priest’s name was Felix Peretti. Born in 1521, he had
begun life as a swine-herd, or a keeper of pigs in his village.
Later, be became a Franciscan friar (priest). Pretending to be
very pious, he was extremely cunning. He was a fox in a95
cassock (Christian priest’s robe). Most Christian priests are
rogues who pretend to be pious ( God- fearing).
Friar Peretti was greatly surprised when Nostradamus
knelt before him. Other villagers who had observed the
incident gathered around in curiosity. Why such great respect
for an ordinary priest? Probably the rustics knew the true
character of the priest.
Nostradamus explained that he was kneeling before a
future pope. The rustics must have thought that he was off
his head. Peretti himself was quite skeptical. But the
prediction did come true in 1585.
The former pig-keeper became pope Sixtus V (1585-1590).
As might have been anticipated, he double-crossed everyone
(cheated) in the name of the Christian cross.
The seer remembered the encounter in rural Italy when
he published his Centuries.
THE PONTIFICATE OF POPE SIXTUS V
Quatrain 41- Century VIII
Esleu sera Renard, ne sonnant mot,
Faisant le saint public, vivant pain d’orge :
Tyranniser apres tant a un cop,
Meitant a pied des plus grands sur la gorge.
A cunning fox-like man is elected, without saying a word,
He will act the saint in public, eating barley-bread :
He will oppress all at a single stroke afterwards,
Putting his foot on the throats of the greatest.96
Friar Felix Peretti (1521-1590) was made a cardinal (next
only to the pope) in middle age. Nostradamus had died in
1566. It is doubtful if Peretti ever read the above forecast
which was published in 1555. Reynard is the fox in European
fables. Peretti was a consummate { expert) double-crosser, or
fox.
Some readers who might be upset or unconvinced by the
interpretations of the present commentator will find the
following extract irrefutable. It is from the book “The Vicars
of Christ” by Peter de Rosa. He graduated from the Gregorian
college in Rome and worked as a professor of theology at the
Corpus Christi Catholic college in London. His credentials
are solid and impeccable. He resigned from the Catholic
priest-hood in protest against the papacy. Honest people in
the West find Christianity disgusting. Most scientists and
scholars have already rejected it.
This is what Peter de Rosa writes about Sixtus V: “When
Gregory XIII became pope in 1572 (Gregory ordered the
reform of the present calendar in 1582 by deleting 10 days),
Cardinal Peretti Montalto retired from public life. His
retainers passed it around that his Eminence ( a cardinal’s
formal title) had one foot in the grave already, and wanted no
more of life than to prepare for death. At the rare (very few)
meetings of the Sacred College (of cardinals) which he was
obliged to attend, he coughed continuously as it he were in
the final stages of consumption (tuberculosis). To whatever
was proposed, he meekly (very obediently) bowed his big
tonsured (shaven) head in assent. He was too weak to argue.97
“When his colleagues (other cardinals) protested that he
was far too young to die, Felix Peretti de Montalto shrugged
(moving shoulders) sadly and added eight year to his age in
an effort to convince them of his imminent (very near)
decease (death). As English visitor to Rome chanced to catch
a rare glimpse (brief look) of his Eminence bent over his fire
(in the room’s fire- place) and wrote home about this “ most
crouching (bending), humble (without pride) cardinal that
was ever lodged in an oven” (stove, here a very warm - room)
“ Pope Gregory died in 1585. Peretti Montalto appeared at
the conclave (closed- door meeting) hollow-cheeked, dull-eyed,
with wrinkles carefully applied. His gait (walk) was snail-
like (very slow), his voice scarcely (just) audible. He walked
on crutches (supports for legs), and so round-shouldered that
his head nearly touched the ground. It was evident (clear) to
all forty-two cardinal-electors as they cast their votes that
Montalto was perfect for the papacy.
“They were immediately undeceived. As soon as Peretti
Montalto won the vote (as the new pope), according to his
biographer Leti, he straightened up, threw his crutches away
with the cry, “Now I am Caesar” : ‘before intoning the holy
thanks-giving chant Te Deum with a voice of thunder.
“In five years, Sixtus V got through fifty years’ work. He
had teams of men labouring day and night to put the dome
on St. Peter's (the cathedral in Rome). He had the obelisk
(an ancient stone-pillar from Egypt) moved, inch by inch, by
hundreds of workmen and mules, to its present position in
the piazza. He built the Vatican Library (Vatican is Popes’98
palace). He constructed an aqueduct over valleys and hills
to bring water twenty miles into Rome. He well-earned his
nick-name, ‘The Consecrated Whirlwind’. (To consecrate is
to make sacred).
“Allied to titanic (very large) energy was a fierce ( angry)
and clamorous (demanding) egotism (self-admiration). He
asserted his temporal (worldly) jurisdiction (authority to
judge) over all kings and princes”
This is the verdict or judgement of a modern historian. It
coincides exactly with the prediction published by
Nostradamus 30 years before Peretti began his pontificate
(rule as pope). The Centuries are still read only because of
such precise forecasts. The present writer may be permitted
to point out that his interpretations have been faithful. There
can be no complaint from any open-minded reader. What the
ignorant or biased reader might think is unimportant.
There are numerous forecasts in Nostradamus about the
popes and the Roman Catholic Christian superstition. There
is no mention anywhere in the Bible of either the pope or his
alleged spiritual authority. An entire chapter is devoted in
the First Part of this book to the Vatican’s pretensions and
crimes. The First Part is titled HINDU DESTINY IN
NOSTRADAMUS. The reader will find it as instructive as
this volume.
The popes’ power is based on a forged document. In other
words, he is an impostor. To regard the Vatican, the pope’s
head-quarters and residence, as a spiritual centre is folly.99
Pope Innocent X (1644 -1655) belied his name which
means to be without guilt or crime. He was a book-thief.
When the French ambassador invited him to dinner in Rome,
Innocent X stole a very costly and rare book. He was
immediately caught and the valuable volume was recovered.
Nostradamus describes Innocent X as a cat-like pope in
quatrain 58, Century X. The pope had to remain unmarried,
but he was sleeping with his own brother’s wife. His sister-
in-law’s name was Olympia. She was the real power behind
Innocent X. When he died in 1655, he was resting his head
on his sister-in-law’s breast. Readers of the First Part of this
book will doubtless recall that Mohammed, the founder of °
Islam, also practised incest by marrying his own daughter-
in-law Zeinab. The 36th chapter, or sura of the Koran
expressly confirms the incest. Both Christianity and Islam
are exposed as superstitions by the seer. Mohammed already
had many wives when he married his own daughter-in-law.
The popes begot armies of bastards. Can religions which
revere them be really true?.
Despite his thorough knowledge of the character and
crimes of the popes, past, present, and future, Nostradamus
pretended to be a true Catholic. This was only play-acting, as
otherwise he would have faced very great dangers and
hardships. At heart, the seer remained a Jew, despite his
outward acceptance of Roman Catholicism. The Jewish
religion lays great emphasis on honesty and intellectual
growth.
No sensible person can ever accept. Christianity or Islam.100
Their wide following is the chief reason for mankind’s
problems and perils. Nostradamus predicts that both these
superstitious creeds well lose their power soon.
After an extended walking-tour of Italy, the seer returned
to France. His grief over the death of his wife and children
had been greatly reduced. It has been aptly said that time is
a great healer of sorrows. Nothing else can bring balm or
solace to a grieving heart.
Nostradamus now found time to write small books on
medicinal preparations, beauty-lotions and even on the
making of confectionery. He must have been indeed quite
fond of sweet-meats. He was now in his fortieth year, and
began to plan for a new life.
But plague again supervened. Nostradamus the physician
was again called upon to fight the dreaded (fearful)
pestilence. With great devotion and courage, he visited the
plague-stricken villages and towns. His ministrations were
largely crowned with success. Grateful patients and local
bodies loaded him with gifts and money. He gave away much
of it to the poor. Neither as a physician nor as a prophet did
he ever display greed. It would not be just to dismiss him as
a fraud or an impostor. Despite his open-handed generosity,
he could save 3,444 gold coins before he died in 1566.
Early in 1547, he made up his mind to settle down at
Salon, in southern France. He married for a second time. His
spouse was a widow named Ann Pons Gemelle. By her, he
had six children. The house in which the family lived still101
stands at Salon. In 1966, to mark the 400th anniversary of
the seer’s death, the road on which it is situated was renamed
after Nostradamus. A world astrological congress was also
held at Salon in that year. France has never forgotten its
greatest seer. But his most important’ prophecies concern
India and Hinduism.
At Salon, on the top-floor of his house, reached by a
winding stair-case, there is a room with fairly wide windows.
Nostradamus made it his study. During his nocturnal
meditations, he could see the planets and the stars through
the windows. Frequently he would go into trances which
revealed to his inner-eye events and changes hidden in
distant futurity. He became an occult time-traveller. In 1966-
67, a team of investigators at Columbia University, New York,
subjected the Centuries to a thorough check with the help of
computers. It was found that the book contained
approximately 2,500 prophecies. Of these, the fulfilled
predictions numbered no less than 850. The professor of
history at Columbia, Prof. Jacques (shaak) Barzun publicly
acknowledged that the seer’s accuracy was phenomenal
(utterly unusual and highly impressive). There could be no
greater tribute to the seer’s genuineness. It ought to silence
all skeptics (unbelievers). The seer’s pre-vision is unique.
How did Nostradamus achieve it? This query can be best
answered by referring to his own explanations. Ordinary folk
(people) cannot fathom occult powers.
With characteristic humility, he makes no claims for
himself. He attributes his predictive marvels to divine102
inspiration,. The first two quatrains of the Centuries give a
vivid description of the method employed by the seer. The
reader is advised to willingly suspend his disbelief. The realm
of the occult is a very strange and mysterious sphere.
SECRET RITE FOR SEEING INTO THE FUTURE
Quairain 1 - Century I
Estant assis de nuict secret etude,
Seul repose sur la selle d’aerain:
Flambe exigue sortant de solitude,
Fait prosperer qui n’ est crotre vain.
Being seated at night in secret study,
Alone at rest on the brass tripod stand;
A thin flame comes out of the solitude,
Bringing success to the (rite) which never belies belief.
Nostradamus is here describing an occult (mystical) rite
or sacred ceremony for peering or seeing into the future. His
own explanation is as follows:
The perfect knowledge of causes of future events cannot
be acquired (obtained) without divine inspiration. Human
understanding, since it is created by the mind, cannot grasp
or go into occult causes, except under the guidance of the
thin flame which shows in what direction coming events will
develop.
The thin flame in the darkness of the night is not man-
made, but created by a trance, or deep meditation. By its
light, future events become visible to the seer who sits alone103
in his room on a brass tripod- stand.
The next quatrain provides more details on this rite :
Quatrain 2 - Century I
La verge en main mise au milieu des BRANCHUS,
De Vonde et mouille et le limb et le pied:
Un peur et voix fremissent par les manches,
Splendour divine, Le Divin pres s’assied.
The magic-wand in hand put in the aura of BRANCHUS,
With water he moistens the hem of his dress and his foot:
A strange fear and voice cause trembling in the sleeves,
There is divine radiance, with the god seated close by.
This is indeed an extraordinary description. Branchus was
a god worshipped by ancient Greeks seeking the gift to
foresee the future. Nostradamus is openly admitting that he
had no faith in Roman Catholic Christianity and turned to
the god Branchus for help in his trance. The god appears in a
glow of bright light, and sits close to the seer.
In short, the Centuries were written in a shaking hand
while the god’s voice was dictating the prophecies.
Modern readers will not be ready to buy or accept this
explanation. But how else to explain the unbelievable
truthfulness of the predictions? Even the greatest astrologer
cannot foretell the careers of people unborn. Nostradamus
not only does so, but at times even mentions their names.
This is a mystery beyond common understanding. It is
perhaps wise to leave it at that. .104
Nostradamus had paved the way for the publication of the
Centuries by bringing out annual almanacs for some years
before. These were so reliable, and so popular, that dishonest
publishers had been tempted. They brought out worthless
almanacs of their own, but under Nostradamus’s name. His
reputation suffered, but he could do little to protect his
interests..It was a price he had to pay for success. He
probably consoled himself by remembering that imitation is
the sincerest form of flattery.
So wide-spread had Nostradamus’s reputation become
both as doctor and as prophet, that he was often asked to
attend on rich patients in other areas. The owner of the
castle (fortified palace) of Fains in the province of Lorraine
was a powerful nobleman named Lord Florinsville. He
summoned the seer from Salon to treat his mother. The old
lady was seriously ill. Local quacks who had treated her had
only made her condition worse.
Under Nostradamus’s care, she recovered soon. A feast
was arranged to celebrate her return to health. On that
morning, Lord Florinsville was taking a stroll (walk) with
the seer on the castle-grounds. There were two little pig-lets
rooting nearby. The nobleman (aristocrat) thought that he
would have a little fun at the seer’s expense. He little knew
that Nostradamus was a genuine seer, and not a
mountebank.
“Can you foretell the fates of those sucking pigs?” he
asked. It was a facetious question, intended to suggest low
respect.105
Nostradamus glanced at the piglets briefly. He said, “The
black sucking-pig will be eaten by a wolf. The white piglet
will be served up at our dinner”. Lord Florinsville decided to
falsify the forecast.
He privately instructed the cook to kill the black piglet for
dinner. That night, when pork was served at table, the
nobleman turned to the seer with a smile of victory, and
remarked, “Well, doctor, your forecast for the sucking-pigs
has failed. We are eating the black piglet.” Nostradamus was
not put out, however. “The pork we have is from the white
piglet. My inner-eye is never deceived”, he asserted. The
aristrocrat immediately called the cook to find out the truth.
The cook confessed that after he had killed the black
piglet, he had to leave the kitchen for a few minutes. In his
absence, a tame wolf-cub kept in the castle had entered the
kitchen and nibbled at the carcass. Unable to prepare it for
dinner, the cook had killed the white sucking-pig to serve at
table. This story too was long remembered and circulated as
proof of Nostradamus’s clairvoyance, It is quite likely that it
was based on fact.
When the first edition of the Centuries was roiled off the
press on 4th May 1555 by a printer named Mace Bonhomme,
it carried a preface by the seer addressed to his own infant-
son. Since the child was onlv a few weeks old. the preface
ought to be regarded as a guide to earnest readers and
interpreters in all subsequent ages.
The Centuries became famous almost overnight. No sooner106
had the book been published than reports about it spread all
over France, and indeed all over Europe. It was hailed as a
wonderful volume without an equal. Nostradamus’s name
was on everybody’s lips. His book sold rapidly. (It still sells
rapidly).
This was surprising, as none of its 2500-odd prophecies or
oracles had been fulfilled. Indeed, the average reader could
not have even understood a great majority of the forecasts.
Written in a mixture of old French, Greek, Latin and Hebrew,
the language was obscure (unclear). Further-more, the seer
employed classical allusions and anagrams, or twisted names,
to make the reader’s task even more difficult. This greatly
confusing mish-mash of languages and allusions and
anagrams repels most readers. The Centuries have to be read
and re-read several times before one can understand their
contents. Nostradamus made it clear that he wanted only
serious-minded and scholarly readers for his book. He was
not looking for wealth or fame, No other author in the West
has been so strict. The first draft was in Latin, a dead
classical tongue, and translated.
Yet, surprisingly enough, the Centuries became very
popular. Nearly 450 years after its first publication, it still
continues to attract large numbers of readers. It has never
been out of print since 1555. In this respect, its record is
bettered only by the Bible. There have been translations into
many European and eastern languages. Radio and television
programmes have also been inspired by the Centuries. It has
run into more than a thousand editions so far. Book-stores in107
the West often have displays of them.
Like much else in the book, the title is also apt to mislead
the careless reader. Centuries do not refer to hundreds of
years as the reader might think. They are in fact an
indication that each canto or section of the book contains 100
quatrains, or four-lined stanzas. The seventh Century, for
some unknown reason, remains incomplete, with only 42
quatrains. A few verses were added from Nostradamus’s
manuscripts after the seer’s death in 1566. There are only 10
Centuries in most editions. The 11th and 12th Centuries are
fragmentary. Most editions do not carry them.
In all, Nostradamus left behind about 960 quatrains. In
addition, he produced 143 presages or predictions, also in
four-lined verses. The Sixains, or Six-lined stanzas, number
58. The prose prophecies attributed to him have entirely
disappeared.
Within a year of the publication of the Centuries, its
popularity was so great that Nostradamus was summoned to
the French capital Paris by king Henry II and his consort,
Catherine de Medici. They were eager to consult the famous
seer about the future of their seven children. Leaving Salon
on 14th July, 1556, Nostradamus reached Paris on the 15th
August. He was treated as an honoured guest by the king
and the queen. He was lodged in a palace.
The queen, in particular, was anxious about the longevity
of her husband. A very famous astrologer of her native Italy,
named Luco Gaurico, had been the family-astrologer of the
Medici family. When Catherine became the bride of the108
French King, her Italian parents naturally consulted Luco
Gaurico. He cast the king’s horoscope, and predicted that the
beginning of his reign would be marked by a sensational duel
(fight between two opponents). The king’s life, the astrologer
went on to prophesy, would be ended in another duel in about
his fortieth year. This frightened the queen. She knew the
astrologer to be very truthful.
Luco Gaurico was born in Italy in 1476. At a very early
age, he became renowned as a very capable astrologer. When
the dictator of the city of Bologna (bolonya) asked him to
foretell his future, he told the tyrant Giovanni Bentivoglio
that he would die in exile. The forecast so angered the
dictator that he ordered the astrologer to be subjected to the
torture called the strappado. The unhappy victim was raised
by a rope slung over a pulley to the roof. He was then
suddenly dropped to dangle within a few inches of the floor.
This torture was repeated several times. Luco Gaurico
required some years to recover the use of his severely
dislocated arms and shoulders. However, he continued to be
plain-spoken in his forecasts. His bluntness made him many
enemies. But he was too brave to worry about it.
The fate of the tyrant Giovanni Bentivoglio of Bologna
(bolonya) was far worse. A few years later, he was driven out
of his city by pope Julius II. Luco Gaurico was vindicated.
Some years later, he foretold that a youth belonging to the
Medici family would become pope. This prophecy also came
true in 1514. The Medici lad (boy) became Pope Leo X at the
age of thirty-eight as foretold. He was a close relative of the109
French queen. It was with pope Leo X that Martin Luther,
the German Protestant reformer, clashed, in 1520.
Far different was the forecast that Luco Gaurico made for
the Catholic archbishop Hamilton of Scotland when visiting
that country. He predicted that he would be put to death by
his own people. The unfortunate Catholic archbishop became
a target of popular anger when Scotland became Protestant.
He was publicly executed. Roman Catholicism went
underground. The success of Luco Gaurico caused a good
deal of heart-burn among other astrologers. They tried to
belittle him. In truth, astrology attracts many mountebanks.
To put skeptics in their place, Luco Gaurico published his
important forecasts in a volume titled Opera Mundi, in Latin
language, in 1554. The re-iteration that king Henry II of
France would die in a duel thoroughly frightened queen
Catherine. As soon as she heard of Nostradamus’s fame as a
prophet, she lost no time in summoning him to Paris. It was
a great honour for a provincial physician.
In the French capital, the seer’s arrival created a
sensation. Everyone flocked to him to know their future. One
night, when he was about to retire for the night, a page
(young male-servant) of a very important aristocrat (noble
man’s) family, knocked at his bed-room door. He had lost a
valuable hound (dog). Without even opening the door,
Nostradamus admonished him for disturbing him at that
late hour.
“You are making too much fuss over a lost dog. Go along
the Orleans road, and you will find it held on leash by a110
stranger”, he told him in a raised voice before even the page
could explain his errand. The young page hurried off on the
Orleans road. The dog was indeed held on leash there by a
man who had found it.
This story is no fable, but an authentic anecdote.
Nostradamus was no ordinary sooth-sayer or fortune-teller.
He was a genuine seer with strange and exceptional powers
of clairvoyance. He was also a popular physician.
After casting the horoscopes of the royal family’s four sons,
Nostradamus found himself lionised by Parisian society. But
the Roman Catholic church’s Inquisition-court wanted to
question him about his occult powers. Rather than risk such
an ordeal, the seer left Paris immediately. On his return to
Salon, he found that he had suddenly grown in the estimation
of his fellow-citizens.
In 1558, the second edition of the Centuries was issued,
with a dedicatory letter addressed to King Henry II of France.
But the very next year, the King died in an accident in a
friendly duel. Luco Gaurico’s second forecast for him was also
fulfilled. But the astrologer himself had breathed his last a
year earlier.
So, is astrology a fraud or a fact ? Clearly, there are some
astrologers who can make startlingly true forecasts. A king
can never be challenged to a duel. Yet king Henry II died in a
friendly duel, or joust. Astrology scored a victory. It would be
short-sighted indeed to sneer at it in all matters.
Nostradamus had foretold that the King’s eldest son, who111
became king Francis II, would die before his eighteenth year.
This came about in 1560 (quatrain 39, Century X).
Thereafter, the widowed queen-mother Catherine began to
regard Nostradamus as her true preceptor. She had greater
faith in him than she had in the Bible. Such was the report
of an Italian ambassador in Paris. The Bible tells fables.
Nostradamus foretold facts.
In 1564, accompanied by her second son, king Charles IX,
the queen-mother made a visit to Salon. Nostradamus was
received in a royal audience. He was made honorary
physician to the king. During the night, he was asked to
predict the futures of the king and his surviving brothers.
But Nostradamus was more interested in another
youngster of eleven who was also of the royal party. This was
Henry of Navarre, a kingdom on the border with Spain. The
seer prophesied that the boy Henry would someday become a
very powerful sovereign. As Henry IV of France, he ruled
from 1589 to 1610. He was the founder of the Bourbon
(boorbo) dynasty of kings.
Nostradamus was in his sixty-third year when he passed
away in the small hours of 2nd July, 1566. He had foretold
the manner of his own death in Presage 141. His grieving
widow, Ann Pons Gemelle, erected a monument with an
epitaph on his tomb in the Cordeliers church at Salon.
During the French Revolution his grave was opened, and
his body was dug up. The Revolutionaries wanted to find out
if any more prophecies were hidden in his coffin. There were
none. The body was then re-buried at the church of112
St.Laurent. His portrait and the original marble tomb-stone
with the epitaph erected by his widow can still be seen there.
His grave was visited by two French Kings in 1622 and 1660
respectively.113
Chapter Five
THE WORLD AFTER 1999
The Christian world was plunged (pushed-downwards)
into a state of wild panic (great fear) in the year 999 CE.
Everyone in the West imagined that the world would come to
an end after 999.
It didn’t, of course. Otherwise, none of us would be here.
Nor is the world going to end after 1999. Nostradamus has
declared that his prophecies extend up to 3797 CE. He has
never been wrong.
Christianity has been responsible for creating and
propagating superstitions in every arena. In the 17th century
(1600-1700), a so-called scholar in England’s Cambridge
university announced the exact date and time when the earth
was created. John Lightfoot was his name, and he said that
at 9 a.m. on 23rd Oct. 4004 B.C., God had created the
universe. This ridiculous nonsense was solemnly taught in
British and American Universities as the sacred truth till
about 1850 C.E. Even today, many Christians believe it.
Hinduism, on the other hand, affirms that the universe’s
age can only be measured in millions and billions of years.
The world never ends, according to Hindu belief. It only gets
altered and renewed. The present universe’s longevity is
linked to an equation on the number of squares in a chess-
board. There are 64 black and white squares, 2%- 1 is said to
be the number of years for the duration of the universe. It
may be recalled that chess is an Indian invention. No other114
pastime can compare with it for profundity, or depth. Hindus
also created playing-cards for relaxation.
The liturgy - calendar, sometimes used by Nostradamus,
began on 8th November, 392 C.E. On that day, liturgy or
public worship, was prohibited by the emperor Theodosius of
Rome, for any and all non-Christians. When Christians or
Moslems get the upper hand, they lose no time in suppressing
other faiths. Their intolerance will plunge mankind into yet
another horrific war before the 20th century ends.
ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH TREMBLES IN 1999
Quatrain 71 - Century VIII
Croistra le number si grand des astronomes,
Chassez, bannis & livres censurez :
Lan mil six cents & sept par sacre glomes,
Que nul aux sacres ne seront asseurez.
The number of astrology - fans will grow so large,
That they will be expelled, banned, and their books
condemned:
In the year 1607 (liturgy) by church conferences,
Because none of the forecasts can assure the church-men.
The liturgy calendar began on 8th Nov. 392 CE as
explained at length in the First Part of this book. This
quatrain is therefore destined for fulfilment after 8th Nov.
1999. A dire prospect indeed! The number of people turning
to astrology will become so immense or enormous that the
Roman Catholic church will become thoroughly alarmed. It
will get no assurance from any prediction about its future.115
Its own crimes and frauds would have destroyed it.
In their fear and panic, the Church authorities will drive
away the astrologers, or ban them from practising their
calling, and condemn their books of prognostications. At every
church-conference, perturbed people will be asked (or even
ordered) not to give any heed to astrology. In short, the
Roman Catholic church will try to close its eyes to its dire
nemesis. Its leaders will forget that there is no armour
against fate. Still, Vatican, the Roman Catholic head-quarters
located in Rome, will begin to tremble in worry and fear, Its
end will be quite near.
INHUMAN PERSECUTION OF HARMLESS
ASTROLOGERS
Quatrain 18 - Century IV
Des plus lettres dessus les faits celestes,
Seront par princes ignorans reprouves :
Punis d’Edict, chassez comme scelestes,
Et mis a mort la on seront trouves.
Some of the most learned in the science of the stars,
Will be strongly rebuked by ignorant rulers :
The law will punish them, chase them away as scoundrels,
And put them to death wherever found.
There have been many truly remarkable Western
astrologers. However, it must be remarked at the very outset
that Nostradamus never regarded himself as an astrologer.
In his preface, he claims that he inherited the gift of prophecy
from his Jewish ancestors. Yet he admits that he occasionally116
resorted to judicial astrology. Basically he was a seer. His
inner-eye could see things as far ahead as the year 3797 CE.
Astrology is almost as ancient as civilisation itself. It had
its origins in India, where, even now, many eminent
astrologers are to be found. There has never been any
antipathy to the science of the stars in eastern lands. This
was because of the accuracy of leading astrologers. In
Sanskrit, astrology is even termed Jyothishya, or Guiding -
light. Varaahamihira is the most famous of ancient Hindu
astrologers.
In the West however, the story is different. Till the
beginning of this century, astrology was actually legally
forbidden as a fraud. Those who practised it were prosecuted
as rogues and vagabonds. In a famous case in New York city,
Evangeline Adams, a female astrologer and descendant of
two American presidents, was acquitted after she correctly
cast the horoscope of the judge’s own son at her trial. As far
as is known, there are at present no legal or other barriers
against the practice of astrology as a regular profession in
the West. Several astrologers, notably Linda Goodman,
Jeanne Dixon and Richter, the man who forecast for
Hollywood film-stars, achieved fame and fortune.
But things will change soon. And for the worse. Cruel
times await astrologers in the West. They will be too
prominent to escape identification, but too few to secure
protection.
As prediction after dangerous prediction comes true,
ignorant rulers will get terrified. They will hold astrologers7
responsible for the workings of fate. The helpless astrologers,
despite their learning, will be harshly or cruelly criticised
and warned against making predictions. Their licences will
be taken away. A new law will be enacted to punish them.
They will be driven out as rogues. Many will even be put to
death wherever they might be found. Why such cruel
persecution of practitioners of a harmless art ? The only
possible answer is that it will be due to an atmosphere of
great fear prevailing in many parts of the West. The
international situation will become so dangerous that
governments will panic. The spread of Moslem terrorism will
become a grave peril to world peace. (See Part One).
There are two other quatrains, 72 in Century X and 54 in
Century VI, which specifically refer to 1999, As they have
already been dealt with at considerable length in the First
Part of this book, it is not necessary to explain them again
here. It is however essential to remember that quatrain 72 of
Century X prophesies the starting of a terrible war in Sept.
1999 by a Chinese war-monger. He will try to be a Jenghiz
Khan. And he will get the support of Moslem fanatics in
Libya and Algeria.
CHINA BECOMES EXPANSIONIST AND SEIZES
TIBET
Quatrain 49 -Century IV
Devant le peuple, sang sera respandu,
Que du haut ciel ne viendra esloigner:
Mais d’un long temps ne sera entendu,
Lesprit d’un seul le viendra tesmoigner.118
In front of the people, blood will be shed,
Which will not flow far from the roof of the world :
But for a long time it will not be understood,
The spirit of a single man will testify to it.
Chine became Communist on Ist Oct. 1949. This prophetic
quatrain is also numbered 49. China was the home of a great
civilisation till the Communists under Mao Zedong seized
power in 1949. Thereafter, it became militarist and
expansionist. It seized Tibet in 1950 without any provocation.
The Tibetans are a peaceful people who follow the
Lamaistic Buddhist religion. Tibet because of its very high
altitude, is known as the Roof of the World. Nostradamus
calls it haut ciel, or sky-high country. The Tibetan leader is
the Dalai Lama, the head of the Buddhist Lama priesthood.
The Dalai Lama is considered as a re-incarnation of his
predecessor. When a Dalai Lama dies, a search is made in
every Tibetan area to find out a male child born at the very
moment of the Dalai’s death. Till such a child is discovered,
the place of the Dalai Lama remains vacant. The present
Dalai Lama, born in 1935, is the 14th in the succession. He
was only 15 years-old when Communist Chinese troops
invaded Tibet. India, under the weak and treacherous leader
ship of Pandit Nehru, did nothing to protect the Tibetans. On
the contrary, Pandit Nehru withdrew the Indian army-
garrison at Gyantsey. The military installations there were
freely handed over to the Chinese Communist invaders. It
was a craven (cowardly) act of treachery.
The Chinese Communists immediately started oppressing119
the peaceful Tibetan people. Since the country is surrounded
by high-mountains, the Himalayas, in the south, and Kuen-
Lun range in the north, very little information about Chinese
atrocities reached the outside world for a long time. Prime
minister Nehru of India, under strong Communist and
Pakistani influence, connived with the Red Chinese thugs.
But in 1959, even the peace-loving Tibetans had had
enough of Chinese tyranny. A revolt broke out. But the
Tibetans were without arms and without any military
organisation. The Chinese government of Mao Zedong sent
more troops to crush the Tibetan independence movement.
Lhasa was bombarded. The Dalai Lama was forced to leave
the Potala palace. He had to seek safety in India. Ever since,
he has been the voice of the free Tibetan diaspora (scattered
communities). He was awarded the Nobel peace-prize in
1989. He is a great spiritual light of our times.
Tibet was never a part of China. Still, the Indian prime-
minister Nehru thoughtlessly allowed the Chinese
Communist regime to occupy Tibet in 1950. Retribution was
not long in coming. In 1962, from their bases in occupied
Tibet, Chinese troops attacked Indian defence installations
in the Himalayas, Pandit Nehru’s policy towards China was
exposed as sheor folly. He died a discredited demagogue and
dynast in 1964. India is still paying the price of his treachery
and folly. Pandit Nehru was completely unfit for any major
post. Even in old age, he was more interested in womanising
than in work. Mahatma Gandhi unwisely foisted Pandit
Nehru on India.120
A CHINESE WAR - MONGER BEGINS
WORLD WAR THREE ‘3 1999
Quatrain 72 - Century X
In the seventh month of the year 1999,
From China will arise a great lord of terror :
He will revive the image of Jenghiz Khan,
Before the god of war favours the good cause.
The seventh month of the ancient (very old) Roman calendar
was September (Sapta-seven, Sanskrit). July and August are
later intercalations, named after Julius Caesar and his great-
nephew Augustus Caesar respectively.
This forecast has been explained at length in the opening
pages of HINDU DESTINY IN NOSTRADAMUS. which is
the First Part of this book. The outbreak of this terrible war
will take the world by shock and surprise. Contrary to
generally held belief that a nuclear war cannot be long, the
Third World War will last seven years. Two-thirds of
mankind will perish before it ends.
AFFLICTED MANKIND IS TOTALLY BEWILDERED
Quatrain 91 - Century I
Les dieux feront aux humains apparence,
Ce quills seront auteurs de grand conflict :
Avant ciel veu serein epee & lance,
Que vers main gauche sera plus grand afflict.
The gods will make it appear to mankind,
As if they were the authors of the great war :
Before the sky (China) is seen clear of sword & spear,124
The greatest harm will be done on the left-hand side.
Chinese emperors in the past were styled Sons of Heaven.
Ciel in French means both sky and heaven. By transference
of meaning, in the Centuries, China is designated as ciel.
The Chinese are very proud of their ancient civilisation,
which owes much to Hindu influence. Their language
Mandarin gets its name from the Sanskrit mantri.
Why do wars break out or start at all? From the days of
the great Hindu epic Ramayana, there have been wars in the
world. Incidentally, Ramayana also describes a heavier -than
-air aircraft which could fly very large numbers of passengers.
Christian missionaries in India, trying to subvert Hinduism,
started ridiculing the very notion of human flight in the 19th
century. One such Christian missionary-idiot from America
made fun of the Ramayana while dining at Bishop Milton
Wright’s house in the United States. The bishop laughed at
the seeming stupidity of the Hindus. But his two sons, Orville
and Wilbur Wright, then quite young, did not laugh. After
the missionary had collected a large donation and left, the
two young boys discussed the Ramayana’s aircraft-story
between themselves. From that time onwards they set
themselves to inventing the aeroplane. Their first plane flew
on 17th Dec. 1903. The air-age became a reality, thanks to
the inspiration of the Ramayana epic.
Humanity has always been afflicted (deeply harmed) by
needless wars. The First World War took a toll of 18 million
lives without solving any major problem. When the Third
World War breaks out in Sept. 1999 (which God forbid!) a122
bewildered humanity will think that the gods above must
have incited it.
Governments will be helpless to avert it. Long ago, the
ancient Latin poet Virgil dolefully concluded that great
calamities are sent down by heaven. Human beings are too
small to cause them.
China starts the war in the expectation of a total victory.
But this prophecy clearly states that China will be finally
disarmed and mostly destroyed. China’s population is mainly
concentrated on the left side of the country, Hongkong,
Shanghai and Canton are some are some of the coastal cities.
Beijing and Nanking are not far distant from them, In this
quatrain the seer warns that all those cities will suffer
terribly. China’s population will be virtually wiped out.
Will China heed the warning? Tragically, it will not. Those
whom the gods wish to destroy are first driven mad.
CLEAR-CUT IDENTIFICATION OF CHINA AS WAR-
MONGER
Some readers might be feeling quite skeptical (doubtful)
about the interpretation of the quatrains linking them to
China. But the seer himself sets all doubts at rest in the
following quatrain:
Quatrain 54 - Century V
Du port Euxine, & la grand Tartary,
Un roi sera qui viendra voir la Gaul:
Transpercera Alane & l’Armenia,
Et dans Bisance laira sanglante gaule.123
From the Black sea, & the great Tartar country.
A ruler will arise who marches to see France:
He will break through Russia and Armenia,
And leave his blood- stained rod of authority in Istanbul.
People living in Mongolia and adjoining lands were
formerly called Tartars. Under Jenghiz Khan (1162 - 1227)
they created an empire stretching from the Pacific ocean to
western Russia. Nostradamus is here predicting the rise of a
Chinese ruler who will try to emulate the great Mongol
conqueror. The Chinese leader’s objective will be Paris in
France. His army will be very vast in numbers. Jenghiz
Khan, incidentally, was not a Moslem, but a sky-worshipping
Shaman. He was never needlessly cruel.
Cutting through southern Russia and Armenia (north of
Turkey), Chinese armies will reach Istanbul. The city was
originally named Byzantium in the 6th century BC. It was
renamed Constantinople during Christian rule. To-day, it is
called Istanbul. It is the largest city in Turkey, though not its
capital, which is Ankara. The change in capital came about
during the rule of Kemal Ataturk in the 1920s.
The resistance to the Chinese war-monger’s march will be
fierce. The Russians and the Armenians will fight with
determination and inflict heavy losses. After enduring heavy
casualties, the main Chinese armies will not be able to pass
beyond Istanbul. The Chinese war-monger’s ambition to
occupy & rule Europe will end in disaster. There will be no
second Jenghiz Khan.124
CHINESE DEBACLE AT ISTANBUL
Quatrain 82 - Century IV
Amas s’ approach venant d’Eslavonie,
L’Olestant vieux city ruinera:
Fort desolee verra sa Romanie,
Puis la grand flame estaindra ne scaura.
A horde (mob) will come near from Slavonia,
The destroyer will ruin the old city:
He will see his Roman ambitions quite desolate,
Then he will not know how to put out the great fire.
Almost every commentator hitherto has applied this
quatrain to Napoleon’s disastrous retreat from Moscow
during the winter of 1812. But Moscow is not a very old city.
It was founded around 1250 CE. Nor did Napoleon destroy it.
The Russians burnt down their own capital to drive out the
French army: It was called the scorched-earth policy,
destroying what. could not be defended. It was first employed.
by the Romans against the Carthaginian invader Hannibal
in 216 B.C., after a terrible defeat at Cannae.
This forecast is eminently applicable to the Chinese
advance foretold in the quatrain just interpreted. The
Chinese leader will besiege and destroy Istanbul, a city over
2500 years old. His armies will have come through Russia
and other Balkan countries (Slavonia). The Chinese dream of
ruling a new empire in eastern Europe will be shattered. As
the flames of resistance become too powerful and widespread,
the Chinese war-monger will be in deadly danger. He will
not know how to ward it off.125
FANATICAL MOSLEMS FROM NORTH AFRICA.
JOIN CHINA
Quatrain 30 - Century II
Un qui des dieux d’Annibal infernaux,
Fera renaistre, effrayeur des humains:
Oncgq plus d’ horreur ne plus dire journaulx,
Quavint viendra par Babel aux Romans.
One who will make the hellish gods of Hannibal,
To be reborn, to the terror of mankind :
Never was greater horror spoken of on any day,
Than will come to the Romans from Babylon.
Hannibal was the great Carthaginian general who led
elephants from Africa in an invasion of Italy. Born in 247
B.C. Hannibal totally destroyed a large Roman army at
Cannae in central Italy in 216 B.C. But lack of supplies and
reinforcements prevented him from capturing Rome. Finally
defeated, Hannibal committed suicide in exile in 182 B.C. to
escape capture by his enemies. For a long time, he was a
terror to the Romans. Carthage was situated near present-
day Tunis in north Africa. Hannibal was the only general in
history to employ war -elephants in western Europe. It is
possible that Indian mahouts rode them.
A north African Moslem fanatic will revive the terror
inspired by Hannibal more than 2200 years ago. He will
commit such horrors as had never been spoken of in the past
by the people of Rome. Babylon is in modern Iraq. Hence it is
clear that the north African invasion of Italy will be a jehad126
or holy-war for most Moslems, seeking the conquest of
southern Europe. They will become the accomplices of the
Chinese leader attacking eastern Europe. The first Moslem
invasion of Europe took place under a leader named Tarik.
Gibraltar (jebel-al-Tarik) is named after him (711 CE).
A FRENCH POPE FACES TERRIBLE DANGERS
Quatrain 49 - Century V
Nul de Espagne mais l’antique France,
Ne sera eleu pour le tremblant nacelle :
A Vennemi sera faicte fiance,
Qui dans son regne sera peste cruelle.
Not from Spain, but from an ancient French family,
Will a pope be elected to the trembling boat:
He will make a promise to the enemy,
Who will become a cruel menace during his pontificate.
Antique means very old and the Bourbon family ruled
France formerly. For nearly 700 years, there has been no
Frenchman elected as pope. The papacy itself is often known
as Fisherman’s Boat, since Saint Peter, the first pope, was a
fisherman by occupation. The French pope will be from the
well-known old family of Bourbons. They ruled France for
over 250 years, beginning from 1589. (Bourbons-boorbo).
With north African Moslems launching a fanatical jehad
or holy-war, and Chinese troops rampaging in the Balkans,
the papacy will indeed become a troubled boat. The Moslem
fanatics will extract a promise of support from the
Frenchman of ancient family who will be elected pope. He127
will defeat his rival from Spain. But the promise made to his
Moslem enemies will become almost suicidal. They will
unleash fanatical cruelty against Christians. The Moslem
holy-book, the Koran, has no less than 116 ayats, or verses,
inciting barbarous violence against non-Moslems.
THE FRENCH POPE’S PONTIFICATE
Quatrain 50 - Century V
Lan que deux freres du lys seront en aage,
Lun deux tiendra la grand Romanie :
Trembler les monts, ouvert Latin passage,
Pache macher, contra fort d’Armenia.
In the year the two brothers of the lilies are of age,
One of them will control the great Roman church :
The mountains will tremble, the Latin path opened,
A treaty made against the fort of Armenia.
The French royal family’s symbol was the lily flower. After
the French Revolution of 1789, The lily flower gave way to
red-white-blue tricolour in a vertical pattern. But the
descendants of French royalty still cherish the lily flower.
They are known as the Bourbons. The Bourbons became the
ruling-house of France in 1589, exactly 200 years before the
outbreak of the French Revolution. (Bourbons-boorbo).
When two brothers who are descendants of French
Bourbon royalty reach the age of majority (adults), one of
them will control the Roman Catholic church as pope. When
he occupies the Vatican Palace in Rome, his position will be
quite perilous or dangerous. Moslem marauders from North128
Africa will be just waiting to pounce upon southern Europe.
The Apennine mountains stretching along the length of
Italy will be infested with armed Moslem terrorist gangs.
Ancient Italians were called the Latins. They constructed the
Appian way, a 500 km, road from Rome to the Adriatic port
of Brindisi on the route to Greece and Asia. The Appian way
will again be opened for movement of armies. A treaty will be
made against Chinese invaders in Armenia.
THE FRENCH POPE’S ARMED EXPEDITION
FAILS
Quatrain 63 - century V
De vaine emprise Vhonneur indue plaint,
Galiots errans par Latins froit, faim, vagues :
Non loing du Timbre de sang la terre taint,
Ex sur humains seront diverse plagues.
From the useless enterprise honour and bitter complaint,
Long - boats wandering among the Latins, cold, hunger &
waves:
Not far from Tiber blood stains the earth,
And people are afflicted with different plagues.
The French pope's effort to assert his authority and protect
his followers will come a complete cropper. The attempt to
launch an expedition. from Brindisi across the Adriatic sea
will fail. Long-boats crowded with soldiers and sailors will
drift among the waves. The pope’s forces will be subjected to
hunger and cold. The turbulent waves will sink many boats.129
In the meanwhile, the fanatical Moslems gathered in
gangs along the Apennine mountains will carry out terrorist
attacks on helpless people. The Tiber river flows through
Rome, and not far from it, the ground will be stained with
the blood of helpless victims.
The people of Italy will be afflicted (made to suffer from)
with different forms of epidemics
Latin was the language of ancient (very old) Rome. Hence
those speaking tongues derived from it are called Ladinos,
especially Spaniards and Portuguese. Italians however are
not called Ladinos. The use of the word in this quatrain
suggests that the papal forces include Iberians (Spanish and
Portuguese). The countries in American continents speaking
those languages are together known as Latin America.
Mexico is included.
THE FRENCH POPE’S WAR - LIKE POLICIES
Quatrian 12 - Century VI
Dresser copies pour monter a UEmpire,
Du Vatican le sang Royal tiendra:
Flamans, Anglois, Espagne avec Aspire,
Contre UItaly & France contendra.
Raising armies to mount to empire,
The royal blood will occupy Vatican palace:
Flemings, Englishmen, Spaniards with Romania,
Will struggle against Italy and France.
Till 1870, the pope was both a spiritual (religious) and
temporal (worldly) ruler. The Vatican palace maintained large130
armies. To-day, the pope has only a body-guard of 100 Swiss
soldiers. No other military force is required. The Vatican
palace is surrounded and guarded by Italy in Rome.
This will change totally, according to this forecast. The
French pope will attempt to regain temporal authority as
well. Armies will be raised to extend the pope’s power in
worldly matters. Two hundred years ago, a third of Italy,
including Rome, was ruled by the pope. An attempt will be
made to revive that phase.
But how can this happen? After all, the Vatican is the
world’s smallest state, with an area of only 108 acres (about
50 hectares). How can it raise well-equipped large armies?
Where will it get the men and the money?
The Vatican however is not an ordinary state. It commands
the religious devotion of one sixth of mankind. This Roman
Catholic population will provide the pope with both men and
material to fulfil his ambitions. The pope, being of royal
(kingly) French Bourbon blood, will have inherited military
qualities. Spain even to this day is ruled by the Iberian
branch of the Bourbons. The family ruled France for over 250
years. (Bourbons-boorbo).
The pope’s martial ambitions will be supported by the
English, who are Protestants. Also, by the Flemings of
Belgium, by Spaniards and by the Romanians. All these
peoples are Roman Catholic by religion except Romanians.
They will back their own spiritual overlord by force of arms.
This has happened several times in the past too. But France
and its agents in Italy will stir up violence against the pope.131
In other words, the Roman Catholic church will become a
house divided. While Italy and France will strongly oppose
the pope’s military actions, he will receive backing from
England and some other countries.
FRENCH POPE’S FOES GET UPPER-HAND
Quatrain 7 - Century VI
Norneigre & Dace & lisle Britannique,
Par les unis freres seront vexees :
Le chief Romain issue de sang Gallic,
Et les copies au forests repulsees.
Norway & Romania, and British isles,
Greatly troubled by the united brothers (allies) :
The leader of Roman Catholics is of French blood,
And the armies are forced back into forests.
The original name of Romania was Dacia or Desha, a
Sanskrit word meaning country. To-day, the same word is
found in the name of Bangladesh. The use of a Sanskrit
name for Romania in the olden age is clear evidence that
Hindu religion was practised there. Armenia too was Hindu
2000 years ago. Its original name was Haya-sthan, or land of
horses, a Sanskrit term. The Armenian alphabet is still
known as Akshara, Sanskrit for letters. *
Norway in the extreme north of Europe, often called the
land of Mid-night Sun, Romania and England will be greatly
troubled by the activities of France and its allies working
against the French pope's interests. His brother will actively
support him as leader of the Vatican armies. They will132
however be beaten and pushed into forests. The Vatican will
become a house divided, with some cardinals secretly
supporting France and its allies.
PIRATES CAPTURE A CARDINAL AT SEA
Quatrain 44 - Century V
Par mer le rouge sera prins de pirates,
La paix sera par son moyen troublee:
Lire & Vavare commettra par faint act,
Au grand Pontiff sera Varmee doublee.
At sea pirates will seize the red-hatted cardinal,
By such means peace is troubled:
Anger and greed will cause the fraudulent deed,
The great pope’s army will be doubled.
Italy is a peninsula in the Mediterranean sea. Till about
200 years ago, pirates from Algeria, known as the Corsairs,
were attacking merchant-shipping in the Mediterranean. But
the combined efforts, of British, French and American war-
ships ended the menace of piracy around Italian shores.
This quatrain warns of a revival of piracy in the
Mediterranean in the near future. The high-priests of the
Roman Catholic superstition (false belief) are called
cardinals who elect the popes. Their maximum number had
been fixed at 70 by Pope Sixtus V, whose career
Nostradamus had forecast. As the Roman Catholic church
has expanded in modern times, the college of cardinals has
grown to nearly 120 prelates (high -priests). The majority of
them are still Italian, though.133
The capture of a cardinal by Moslem pirates from north
Africa will be the first warning of an islamic invasion of
Italy. The cardinal’s capture will be caused by anger and
greed. The promise made to Moslem fanatics by the French
pope at the time of his election will not have been fully kept.
Additionally, the desire for a heavy ransom (payment for
freeing seized or kidnapped persons) will act as a great
incentive. Equally ominously, there will be secret enemies in
the Vatican. A revolt will be brewing against the pope.
Seeing the dangers around, the pope will show his courage
and determination by doubling the size of his army.
Nostradamus calls him a great pontiff (highest religious
leader) for his bravery and wisdom. The pope will drop the
cross and take up the sword. It will be a life-and-death
struggle.
But the days of the Roman Catholic superstition will be
numbered. Both Christianity and Islam are man-made
creeds. Before Jesus was born, there was no Christianity.
Before Mohammed's birth, there was no Islam. Hence they
deny (refuse) salvation (spiritual release) to the hundreds of
millions born before Islam and Christianity. There can be no
bigger falsity than this. A true religion will be as old as
mankind itself. Hinduism has existed from the beginning of
recorded time. Very aptly, it is called Sanaathana Dharma,
or the Eternal Faith. Hinduism has no founder. It is the
direct outcome of godly instruction and inspiration. The social
evils found in Hindu Society are later perversions, or wrong
creations. Hindus believe in rebirth and karma, or134
consequences of past lives.
Nostradamus, with his inner-eye, foresaw the terrible
calamities that superstitions (false beliefs) like Christianity
and Islam will inflict upon the world. For both Christians
and Moslems, the earth is the centre of the entire universe.
That is what the Bible and the Koran proclaim. The Koran is
supposed to have come directly from Allah, the Moslem god.
Very clearly, Allah, the All-Knowing, did not know about the
earth’s rotation around the sun. But no Moslem will accept
this inconvenient truth. Christians are more open-minded
now. But they too were fanatics in the past. It is only recently
that they have begun to change. Faith in the Bible is waning
(lessening). But Moslems still remain fanatics.
If the Bible and the Koran can be so manifestly wrong
over such a relatively simple matter, as the movement of the
earth around the sun, how authentic can their other
statements be ? This is an intriguing question. Allah did not
know the working of the solar-system. Neither did Jehovah
the god of the Bible. And yet, their deluded followers loudly
assert that either created the universe! Is this sublime (very
high) or just ridiculous? Christians and Moslems ought to
ponder. Otherwise, their religious devotion will have no
meaning. Fanaticism is no defence.
The next quatrain to be examined deals with this very
question.
