Sermon
Sunday, november 2
9:00 & 11:15 a.m. - Sanctuary
11:15 a.m. - Jubilee
Dr. James I. St. John
ALL SAINTS DAY
Remember ...
1 Thessalonians 2:9-13

The fullness and richness of worship yesterday will long linger in my

mind. From seeing the sanctuary full at 11:15 a.m., to hearing the rich
sounds of Lift High the Cross, to sensing the commitment as we united
our voices in rededicating our sanctuary and ourselves to our God, the day
overflowed with the Holy Spirits presence.
I shared during the sermon that Im not very good celebrating, but seeing
you all, the Body of Christ at Eastminster, pulling together as one to update
and upgrade the facilities that have been entrusted to us for the 21st century, even as we are
also moving forward in the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ, brings a smile to my face
and deep joy to my soul.
Energized by the new beginning that is ours by Gods grace, please contribute financially
to enable Christs work through Eastminster both now and in 2015. Im pleased to share
that 100% of our elected Deacons and Elders have already pledged for 2015, and so too have
300 additional family units. Our capacity to reach beyond ourselves as the Body of Christ is
directly influenced by each and every gift that is invested for Kingdom work. For the Body of
Christ to be what it can be, all of us must step up.
As I did Sunday so let me do here: encouraging and challenging each of you to also commit
to all, or at least several, of the following over the next three months by
____ Sharing Godly Gossip, telling others of Gods good work in, and through, Eastminster.
____ Asking at least one person to join me/us for worship or some other Eastminster
opportunity.
____ Participating in worship more regularly and more joyfully.
____ Being more intentional about communing with God through prayer & Scripture.
____ Serving beyond myself in a way that fits my abilities.
There is no greater joy for a pastor, or at least for this pastor, than to see men, women and
youth responding to the Spirits stirring by stepping forward to joyfully follow Jesus Christ.
See you Sunday,
Brad

2014 Advent Retreat December 5 - 7 - Blue Ridge Assembly

We invite you to join us this year at Eastminsters annual Advent Retreat as we wrestle with the whys and hows of Shouting It from
the Mountain Top! Well discover some fresh ways to dare to
share the love of Christ with many around us: with family members,
with co-workers, and with our friends from down the street. If this
piques your interest, pick up a brochure at church, download a brochure from the E-News or check us out online. You may register with
Mary at 256-1654 or mbaldauf@eastminsterpres.org.

Circle of Giving - Saturday, December 13

Eastminster hosts the Cooperative Ministrys Christmas Program each year where the children shop, wrap gifts, sing songs, have refreshments and make gifts for their special teacher,
immediate families and a friend. This event is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, from
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Thompson Hall. We need volunteers (teens & adults) to help set up
on December 12, from 4:00 p.m. until, and volunteers to help the children shop, wrap gifts
and do small crafts. Two shifts are available on December 13: 8:45 until 11:00 a.m. and 11:00
a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Please contact Laura Irick at lmirick85@gmail.com if you would like to
help.
Cannot be there? We also need donations of gift bags (all sizes), tissue paper, large shopping bags, and unwrapped new gifts in the $10 range. Please email Laura for gift suggestions!
Gifts should be delivered to the Circle of Giving boxes in the CLC lobby or the CE building
lobby no later than Friday, December 12th.
Over 100 children select more than 300 gifts each year. All gifts are donated by members
of Eastminster!

Ringing for Jesus!

events. Not sure if its for you? Come to a rehearsal and give it a try with
no pressure. Call Jim Masek at 803-556-9166 or email at jim.masek@
