^ The Bible studies have brought a great deal of joy and fulfill
ment to our lives. We're focusing, alot of. our attention now on
with good results. Let me share some comments with
you from two of our nonohristian students. Mrs. Im, one of the women
I teach says, "I like Buddah, his teachings are good and wise; but
I like Jesus iiiore sind think one day I will follow only Him. These
J want to re^d the Bible and see an old testament." (Since
that time, she'has been given two Bibles.). "How can I get living
water?" (This was after the lesson on the woman at the well.) Mr.
Han, one of the students Mike teaches, "Thank you for your teaching."

Fai:|./Winter '83 highlights;
Floyd Clark from JBC was our very special guest here in Taejoii.
During his stay, he lectured on church leadership at the seminary.
John, the Kim's new son, was baptized!
I was siok with tonsilitis over Thanksgiving. All our missionaries
gathered at the Kim's for the celebration. They sent a plate of food
over, via Mike!
Cliristmas was very meaningful because it was shared with inany Korean ~
friends.
This year!
group from our seminary and KCA put together a program
of singing and clowning, and went to the Taejon Juvenile Delinquent
Boys' Home. We got a very favorable response. Also, in January, a
fflrl from Eden Orphanage started coming to see us one
weekend out of the the month# Young Shim has become an important
part of our lives and we're very thankful for this opportunity.
During the Korean school's winter break, Mike taught the lessons on
grace to his regular Bible study group and to the jr-sr high youth
group in the village we stayed in last summer.
Marc|i 7th was our third wedding anniversary!
This spring, we were blessed by a visit from Harry Bblan, a new
member of the Monroeville PA Christian Church. He had been sent to
-Beoul-on^usiness. ancUcame down to Tflejen- tQ flee_j^ay^
Now, we're caught up for the time being that is! 'The summer months
ahead look like busy ones since the Kims will be .in the states on a
three month furlough.
In June we are traveling to the Philippines to be a part of a two week
revival sponsored by Christ to the Nations. Mike will be preaching
and we are looking forward to witnessing to the people there.
Before I I"d. like to highly recommend some good books to read.
You'll never be the same after reading them.
If I Perish, by Ester Ahn Kim (Ahn Ei Sook) 1977 Moody Press. She
was imprisoned and tortured by the Japanese for refusing to bow down
to the shrine of the emperor.
The Persecutor by Sergei Kourdakov 1973 Fleming H. Revell Co.
He was murdered by the communists after he became a Christian and
denounced Moscow government policies. He was formerly the leader
of a KGB squad that -led raids on Russian Christian meetings during
Breshnev's times.
Moments with Mike
It has become apparent to me that it's not very hard to fill our
daily schedules with plenty of activities, I also realize that
many times, we have allowed activities to be and end in themselves.
In other words, being content in the fact that we are busy and have
a full schedule. Many times, we fail to see how different activities
relate to one another in our lives. I think that before a master
craftsman weaves a rug, he gives thought to a pattern. Then he begins
weaving different colored threads to make the pattern in his mind.
He doesn't just weave threads haphazardly, but chooses and rejects
threads depending on the pattern in his mind. The apostle Paul uses
this example in ICor. 9: 2^-27.
Paul speaks here that we should have a purpose in life. Our
activities shouldn't be without aim. We need to be like runners,
who while training, keeps the goal in focus. In chapter 10, Paul
gives us that goal, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you
do, do it all to the glory of God," I Cor. 1-:31. I think we could
all learn to be more effective in living our lives for God's glory.
Instead of just letting things happen by chance, we ought to have a
plan or a theme for our life. With a plan set in our minds on how
we will glorify God, we can pick and reject activities with regards
to how they will weave together in our lives to achieve that goal.
With a plan, our lives would be better organized so that we could
use daily activities to achieve our goals instead of allowing
activities to use us. Mike.
**Note! Our phone has changed to 011-82-^2-73-2557. In case of an
emergency, the Kim's can be reached at 011-82-i|'2-73-26^6.
Bye!!
