1 New Features
1.1 Renewable Power Infeed RPI
The network element Renewable Power Infeed can be used to simulate an electrical power
infeed and battery storages using inverters. The both figures below show the settings dialogs.
The implementation will be done based on the ATP programming language MODELS.
ATPDesigner will automatically write the required MODELS source code into the .ATP-File. Figure
1 below shows the settings dialog. This network element can be only used for transient
simulations.

The technical behavior of the Renewable Power Infeed can be set by several characteristics
and settings.

2 Improvements
2.1 ATPDesigner User Interface: Tab Control Settings
The user interface has been improved by a
second tab control called Settings. Using this
tab control it is possible to open settings
dialogs very easy.
Network Configuration Settings
ATP Related Settings
Load Adjusting Settings
Phase Adjusting Settings

Signal Analysis Settings
Diagram Settings
Short Circuit Settings
VDE 0102 (IEC 60909) Settings
A new Right Mouse Button Menu is now available, if the
cursor has been located "over" the tab control
Network.
Find
The selected network element will be identified
and marked using a red frame.
Clear
The red frame will be erased.
Enable / Disable
The selected network element will be enabled or disabled.
Delete
The selected network element will be deleted.

2.2 Messages Window
If an ATP error will be displayed in the Messages Window, the corresponding .LST-file of the ATP
can be opened via a Left Mouse Button Double-Click using the internal text editor. ATPDesigner
automatically tries to find the line with error message in the .LST-file.
2.3 Single-Circuit Line
The setting Line RLC-PI enables the capacitances CPP and CPG based on the -circuit.
Figure 2: Setting Line "RLC-PI"
2.4 Probe
ATPDesigner now supports the calculation of the phase-to-phase voltages Vpp in case of the
simulation of the transients using the MODELS language.
3-phase voltages Vpg, Vpp, currents Ip
S, P, Q, cos , Vpg, Vpp, Ip (3-ph.)

with xxx = number of the Probe e.g. 001.
2.5 Short-Circuit Calculation acc. VDE 0102 (IEC 60909)
The short-circuit calculation acc. VDE 0102 (IEC 60909) is now available for the phase-to-phase
faults AB, BC and CA and the phase-to-phase-to-ground faults ABG, BCG and CAG. The fault
resistance will be now taken into consideration for the phase-to-ground faults AG, BG and CG.
In addition the settings dialog shown in Figure 4 shows some new settings explained below.
Short-Circuit Current Ikmin - Ikmax
Selecting the calculation of the minimum or maximum initial symmetrical short-circuit
current
Thermal Equivalent Short-Circuit Current Ith
ATPDesigner also calculates the thermal equivalent short-circuit current Ith.

2.6 User Specific Text Name for Load Impedance, Line Cable and Multi Phase Line
The user specific text can be now enabled
(displayed in the network graphic) or
disabled (not displayed).

Display Name of Line
2.7 File Save As .. regarding embedded .ATP-File
If an .ATP-File has been embedded in the .NET-File, the .NET-File and the embedded .ATP-File
will be copied using the File Save As .. menu item. ATPDesigner uses for the copy of the
embedded .ATP-File the file name CopyOf...
.NET-File: Network_2.net
Embedded .ATP-File: Network_2.mod
Using the File Save As .. menu item to create a copy called Test.net:
.NET-File: Test_2.net

2.8 Generator
The settings dialog of the network element Generator has been improved by a new tab control
Control Settings. If one or both of the options Speed Control and/or Voltage Control has been
enabled, ATPDesigner automatically implements control algorithms using the MODELS of the
ATP.

2.12 Transformer : Voltage Regulator for Load Adjusting
ATPDesigner now supports an automatic Voltage Regulator (Tap Changer) as part of the Load
Adjusting algorithm (load flow calculation).
Figure 7: Settings Dialog Transformer: Voltage Regulator
A Voltage Regulator with Tap Changer can also be used during the Short Circuit Analysis if the
option Load Adjusting has been enabled. This option will be ignored during the simulation of the
transients of voltages and currents. The input voltage Vinp of the voltage regulator can be
calculated using the phase-to-ground voltages of several measuring locations.
