Element Student Ministrys number one goal is to partner with families in helping grow their
student up in a relationship with Christ. We realize that a partnership takes effort on both
sides, and we commit at Element to do our very best to provided ministry opportunities to
help students grow in a love relationship with Jesus Christ. We
try to accomplish this goal in many different ways because we
know that each individual student is in a different place in their
faith journey. We want to meet students where they are in that faith journey. We want to meet students where they are in that
journey and then help them to GROW deeper in their faith.
My hope is that you will take this guide and look through
it (both students and parents) and find a ministry that you
can get involved with this year. We dont expect anyone
to participate in everything, but we DO want you to find
at least one weekly ministry to participate in and fully
commit to being a part of. If you have any questions about commit to being a part of. If you have any questions about
our ministry, let us know. We love to share about our vision
and our goals.
Thanks for letting us come beside your family on this faith
journey here at Trinity United Methodist Church. We look
forward to supporting, guiding, and challenging you to GROW
into a fully committed disciple.

Our mission is to REACH non-believers for Christ, to CONNECT with

other Christians, to GROW in our faith, to SERVE those in need,
and to HONOR God with our lives.

CROWD PROGRAMS are ministry opportunities that are directed toward the CROWD students.
The idea behind these programs is to encourage students to invite their friends and to interact with
others. These events are fun-filled but have a very important worship and lesson time.
Prayer Breakfast offers an opportunity for middle school and high school students to gather on
Tuesday mornings at 6:30 AM in the Youth Cafe to have a devotional and prayer time. Breakfast
costs $3, and students walk to school afterward. costs $3, and students walk to school afterward. Tuesday mornings: 6:30 AM
Sunday Night Live (SNL) is a high-energy worship service that occurs monthly. The idea behind
SNL is to get as many students involved in the worship service as possible. Students host, lead worship,
make videos, perform drama, and sometimes even lead the lesson. SNL is a great night for visitors
and for students to invite their friends. Sunday nights: 6:00 8:00 PM
Target: Non-churched, Non-believing
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, or outreach events, are targeted at COMMUNITY students. The
goal of outreach events is to attract as many students as possible, and even involve them in the
events activities, in order to show them that Christians can have fun together. These events are also
a good way to publicize the activities and ministry areas we have at Element through brochures,
posters, etc. These events occur monthly.
REACH Night REACH Night is a Sunday night ministry that typically happens the first Sunday night of the month.
REACH nights specific function is to give our students an opportunity to invite a friend to church. REACH
nights are great entry-level events that allow students to become comfortable with the church environment.
REACH nights are fun-filled nights that end with a lesson. A few examples of REACH nights are:
Pumpkinfest, Mr. Trinity Pageant, Hootenanny, tailgate parties, and Fire & Ice night. We anticipate lots of
visitors on REACH nights. Sunday nights: 6:00 8:00 PM
Element Cafe is open to all students 6th 12th grades on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from
3:00 5:30 3:00 5:30 P.M. Element Cafe is a great place to relax, do homework, play in the game room, eat snacks,
and just hang out with friends. We have Wi-Fi and will soon provide computers for the students to use. This
program meets in the youth area of the church. Tuesday & Thursday afternoons: 3:00 5:30 PM
Destination Funknown is a Sunday night program in which the destination is sometimes kept a secret
for the students (as well as the adult counselors). The destination is typically fun in nature where we play
and then end with a lesson. Students enjoy the suspense and excitement that comes with these nights.
Sunday nights: 6:00 8:00 PM

Target: Forced to attend, Seeker, Interested in growing
CONGREGATION PROGRAMS are aimed towards those students who are comfortable
at church. These CONGREGATION students range from those who are forced to attend church
to those who are ready to begin studying the Bible. Many of these students have grown up in
the church or have parents who attend the church.
Deuces meets in the youth center on the second Sunday of each month. The night consists of
dinne dinner, a game, worship, a lesson, and small group break-out sessions by grade for follow-up
questions. The adult counselors remain the same for each grade level, allowing the adults to
build bonds with the students in their group. Deuces provides a great opportunity to reach
students who are likely to respond to the lesson they just learned. Sunday nights: 6:00 8:00 PM
Sunday School is a challenging program in youth ministry since it tends to have a reputation of
being boring. Our Sunday School ministry faces that stigma head-on in hopes to create an
environment of fun, fellowship, and growth. Sunday School classes are divided by 6th, 7th, 8th,
9th &10th, and 9th &10th, and 11th & 12th grades. Each class is learning something different with our seven-year
cycle curriculum so students experience a well-rounded study of the Bible and theology. Each
class has discussion, games, and a time to look at Scripture. Sunday mornings: 10:00 10:45 AM
Serve Saturdays are opportunities that are provided throughout the school year for students to
SERVE those in need. These opportunities range from tutoring to feeding the homeless. Most
of these missions will be one-time commitments on a Saturday or weekdays after school.

Target: Serving others through ministry and evangelism
CORE PROGRAMS are aimed toward students who are actively seeking to GROW deeper in
their faith and be leaders in the ministry. Many of the core programs are organized and led by students
with little, if any, direction and follow-up from adult leadership. These students must be ready to take on
new challenges and lead their peers in ministry.
The Journey is a program designed for students who are ready to take their spiritual journey to a
deeper level. deeper level. The program is customized for each grade in each of the Biblical principles: worship,
service, evangelism, fellowship, and discipleship. Students are challenged to complete a task
associated with each principle. Students are given guidelines but are encouraged to come up with
their own task based on their talents or passions. Also, The Journey challenges the students to read
a book and complete a devotional during the year. The ultimate goal of The Journey is to prepare
students to be servants for Christ once they graduate from high school and leave the support of their
parents and youth minister.
Element Leaders Element Leaders is for students who are ready to give back to the church. Students are not nominated
or elected to the leadership team. Anyone is welcome to join. This helps eliminate popularity contests
for youth group leaders. The only rule is the student must lead.

Por our famlly, Llement provldes an opportunlty for youth to be plugged lnto the church, learn about
God's love for them, and grow ln thelr falth. The youth program oners dlnerent ways for the youth to
be lnvolved through Sunday nlght programs, Puslon 8lble study groups, Sunday mornlngs, Llement
Cafe durlng the week, Serve Saturdays once a month, and retreat weekends that challenge our
chlldren chlldren ln thelr falth. Our youth greatly benet from the themes the leaders thoughtfully plan for each
month. The themes relate to what our teenagers are faclng, and glve them scrlpture and tools to face
these lssues. Por example, the theme "Untouchables" covered toplcs such as death, pre[udlce, and
dlsabllltles. Thls theme meant a lot to our klds because lt covered toplcs they encounter but felt were
not usually dlscussed. Afterwards, they felt more prepared for these sltuatlons and had a dlnerent
perspectlve.

At At Trlnlty we are encouraged to GATHLP, GPOw, GO, and GLOP|P as God works through our church.
God ls at work ln many ways ln our youth. when they GATHLP together, God ls worklng through the
volunteers that teach and serve the youth. He ls worklng ln the youth as they GPOw ln thelr falth
through slnglng worshlp songs and belng taught about Hls word. God ls at work when the students
GO outslde the church and learn how to be servants of God as they work wlth dlnerent mlsslon
opportunltles and GLOP|P the name of God through thelr works. One of our most favorlte tlmes ln the
youth year ls Dlscovery weekend. |t's a weekend for mlddle school students packed full of many
opportunltles opportunltles to learn about God's abundant love. Hundreds of mlddle schoolers who may or may not
go to church, come and stay at Trlnlty for the weekend. ou can see God worklng through the
volunteers, the speakers, the pralse band, and through the senlor hlghs who take a leadershlp role
guldlng the younger youth ln thelr small group dlscusslons. |t ls very powerful!
Wh 6e ea e|aateer w|th l|emeat!
we we are volunteers for the youth mlnlstry for several reasons. |nltlally we chose to volunteer wlth the
youth program as a way to be lnvolved and support a program ln our church. Thls made sense to us
slnce our chlldren are youth age. we also wanted to volunteer wlth Llement to support the youth
mlnlstry team and thelr enorts to make the program the best lt can be. The program serves a large
number of youth and lt takes volunteers to help make lt a success. volunteerlng allows us the
opportunlty opportunlty to see what our chlldren are experlenclng and glves us the chance to meet other youth
and thelr famllles. we have found that through volunteerlng, we have also had an opportunlty to
grow ln our falth. whether you're servlng food, leadlng a dlscusslon, welcomlng students lnto the

DISCOVERY WEEKEND
Element Student Ministry believes that, as a staff we are called to be in
partnership with parents and volunteers to build up students in a loving
relationship with Jesus Christ. We realize that this partnership takes
effort from everyone. At Element, we are convinced that the more
parents & adult volunteers we have involved the more students
we can effectively REACH for Jesus. So this year, we are
hoping that all parents will commit to volunteering in at least one hoping that all parents will commit to volunteering in at least one
way each semester. Below are a few ways that parents can get involved.
By volunteering, you get to:
kaaq eat w|th aweseme sta6eats
kear re|eaat messaqes
8e a part ef a team that |s |mpact|aq the aext qeaerat|ea|
No experience needed! Only a love for Jesus.
Whether you serve at Element Caf, drive your vehicle, pray for Element,
or mentor a group of students, you can play a role in helping your
student and others develop an authentic faith.
It is our commitment to you that we, through the leading and empowerment
of the Holy Spirit, will provide relevant ministries, opportunities for
development as a deeply committed Christian, and training for Christian
leadership for adults and students who have a desire to serve.
What a great calling we have to be a part of a team who will point
the way to Jesus Christ.

be done on a rotation if that is more fitting.

One of our major goals this year is that every parent of a student in our ministry finds one way
to serve each semester. Below is a list of some of the many ways that volunteers can serve at
Element Student Ministry. Take a look and see what might interest you. Everyone is needed!

Tuesday Morning a month. These volunteers will pick up the food for prayer
breakfast and bring it to the church by 6:30 one Tuesday morning a month and
then serve it to the students. They do not have to order the food or bother with
paying for it. We just need someone to get the food to the church and serve it.
We are always done by 7:30am.
Serve Saturday Serve Saturday - We need 2 adults every month to help us serve from 9:30am -
12:00pm at one of our local ministries.
First Time Visitor Gift Drop Off - With each new student joining us on Sunday
nights, we always want to make sure that the student feels known, loved and
connected at Element. So with that, we deliver a gift to the family the following
Monday before the student gets home from school. If you're available on
Mondays before 3pm, then this ministry is for you!
MIA "Missing You" Gift Drop Off MIA "Missing You" Gift Drop Off - Life gets busy! Sometimes this leads to
students falling out of touch with our student ministry. However, even when life
is the busiest, we want to make sure our students know that we know they
haven't been around and that we miss them! Each week on Wednesdays before
3pm, we deliver "Missing You!" gifts to those students who haven't joined us on
a Sunday night in over a month.
Tailgating Cooking Team - Throughout the fall, we will be setting up our very
own tailgating tent at some of the middle school and high school games. If you own tailgating tent at some of the middle school and high school games. If you
can grill out, pick up drinks/cups/chips and/or be a greeter as students come
by to grab a burger, then this ministry is for you!
Element Cafe - Element Cafe is one of our many ministries at Element that
seeks to provide students with a safe haven through a Christian environment
after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Over the past year, Element Cafe
has grown significantly in all aspects. God has truly had His hands in this
ministry. We have a lot of different roles and shifts available. Shift 1 - 3:00-4:15 ministry. We have a lot of different roles and shifts available. Shift 1 - 3:00-4:15
and Shift 2 - 4:15-5:30. In these shifts you'll have the opportunity to work at the
front desk, serve at the concession stand, play games in the gym, or be a
hall monitor. Whatever works best for you!
