PUBLIC FOOTPATH
EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL
FOOTPATH NO 401/6 NASH
On 29 October 2014 Newport City Council
conirmed the above Order made under
Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order as conirmed is to
extinguish the public rights of way over the
footpath running from Point A through Point B
to Point C and from Point D to Point E, a total
length of approximately 98 metres as shown
on the Order Map.
The Order comes into force on 29 October
2014 but if a person aggrieved by the Order
wants to question its validity, or that of any
provision contained in it, on the ground that it
is not within the powers of the Highways Act
1980, as amended, or on the ground that any
requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any
regulation made under the Act has not been
complied with in relation to the Order, he or
she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule
2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of
Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from
29 October 2014 make an application to the
High Court.
A copy of the Order as conirmed and the
Order Map have been placed and may be
seen free of charge at the Civic Centre,
Newport, South Wales NP20 4UR from
9.00am to 4.00pm from Monday to Friday.
Copies of the Order and Map may be bought
there at the price of three pounds.

Jobs picture looks good as vacancies
continue to rise and unemployment falls
JOB vacancies reached a post-recession high
last month, up by a quarter from a year ago to
more than 900,000, new research has shown.
Search engine firm Adzuna said competi-
tion for posts had fallen as a result of 30 cities
in the UK now having more vacancies than
jobseekers.
The number of advertised vacancies has
increased for four months in a row, although
many of the vacancies are for part-time work.
Vacancies in customer services are looking
particularly strong in the run-up to the busy
Christmas period.
The report also showed that advertised
salaries jumped by two per cent in September
compared to a year ago to an average of
34,695.
Andrew Hunter, co-founder of Adzuna, said:
The cautious green shoots of job market
growth are now beginning to firmly take root
as businesses revel in new-found economic
confidence. The number of vacancies on
offer is rapidly expanding, and UK vacancies
crossed the one million mark in the last few
days, which bodes well for vacancy levels in
October.
At the same time unemployment has fallen
to below two million, its lowest level since
2008. That potent combination of factors is
catalysing a recovery in salaries, as employ-
ers raise wages in order to attract the talent
they need to respond to an uptick in business
demand. Employers are also increasingly
aware of the bounty of opportunities avail-
able to existing employees looking to move
jobs, and are handing out pay rises to prevent
talent falling through the cracks.
The value of the UKs recruitment industry
has passed its pre-recession peak, recording
revenue of 28.7 billion in the last financial
year, according to another study.
The Recruitment and Employment Confed-
eration (REC) said annual turnover increased
by more than eight per cent, with most
revenue coming from temporary or contract
business.
REC chief executive Kevin Green said: The
recruitment industry is the driving force
behind the UKs labour market recovery.
The positive impact that recruiters have on
peoples working lives and businesses in this
country is the reason we have record employ-
ment, and unemployment falling at unprec-
edented speed.
As the jobs market recovers, there are still
challenges. Some bigger businesses are creat-
ing their own in-house recruitment teams,
clients are demanding more in a market
where skilled candidates are harder and
harder to find, while new online tools lead
some employers to assume that sourcing and
sifting candidates is easy.
Minister for Employment Esther McVey
said: Employment is up, unemployment is
down and todays figures show there are jobs
out there with full-time jobs accounting
for three quarters of the rise in employment
since 2010. The Governments long-term
economic plan to help businesses grow and
create jobs is working. Up and down the coun-
try our frontline staff at Jobcentre Plus are
working hard to help match jobseekers with
these vacancies so they too have the security
of a regular wage.
