All Marshalls facing bricks are classified as Fcategory fully frost
resistant as defined in BS:3921:1985.Within the standard the
definition states that frost resistant (F) bricks are durable in all building
situations including those where they are in a saturated condition and
subjected to repeated freezing and thawing.
An important consideration in conditions of extended saturation is the
possible failure of mortar joints through a process known as sulphate
attack.Sulphate attack within mortar joints can lead to expansion,
crumbling and failure of the joints leading to displacement in the
surrounding brickwork.
Marshalls facing bricks are also classified as Lcategory low soluble
salts content as defined in BS:3921:1985.Experience shows that the
use of Lowsoluble salts content clay bricks,as defined in BS:3921:1985,
removes the risk of sulphate attack of the mortar.The Fcategory when
combined with the Lcategory,gives a facing brick product with the
highest durability designation available within BS:3921:1985,that of an
FLdesignation,Fully Frost resistant with Low Soluble salts content.
Marshalls further guarantees the frost resistance of its range of facing
bricks for a minimum of 60 years.This guarantee only applies to
Marshalls facing and engineering bricks supplied as Fquality.This is on
the understanding that the brickwork in which the bricks are
incorporated is designed and constructed exactly to the
recommendations of BS:5628:Part 3:2001,the Code of Practice for
Walling,or any later document which supersedes or replaces that code.
DURABILITY GUARANTEE
DIMENSIONAL ACCURACY GUARANTEE
Marshalls realises that the dimensional deviation tests,both in
BS:3921:1985 and the proposed European Standard prEN 771,do not
provide a size test that meets the actual requirements of designers and
contractors,that is,a measurement of the face,the dimension upon
which all brickwork is based.
In recognition of this requirement,Marshalls offers on the majority of
the range,a dimensional guarantee above that of the existing and
proposed standards which is related to individual bricks.
This gives much greater accuracy on the critical face dimension,a
significant improvement on the industry standards and one which
can only add to the overall quality of the finished brickwork.
Marshalls guarantees that a minimum of 90% of all facing bricks will
have a face dimension of no more than + or 3mm from 215mm when
measured 10mm back,from the face of the brick using callipers as
illustrated.This guarantee is based on a measurement of individual
bricks,not the mean of 24 bricks,as in the present standard,or the
mean of 10 bricks,as in the proposed European Standard.

COLOUR BLENDING GUARANTEE
Marshalls recognises that blending bricks from several packs prior to
laying is not always possible for a variety of reasons.
To ensure that an even blend and a balanced appearance of colours is
achieved with the finished brickwork in these circumstances,Marshalls
offers the Colour Blending Guarantee for certain products.
Individual packs of facing bricks offering this guarantee have a balanced
blend within each blade or slice,provided that the facing bricks are
removed from packs as shown opposite.
Marshalls also guarantees a balanced blend throughout the contract,
reducing the need for hand blending on site,providing that the full
quantity is ordered prior to supply commencing.
All Marshalls facing bricks are supplied fully shrink wrapped to offer
maximum protection in transit and on site.

Marshalls City Blend and Match range gives a unique opportunity to
match and complement the weathered smooth red brickwork of any
age or era.
Choose the blend reference number which provides the correct balance
of red and black hues to give the match required.Blend One Red Mix
Smooth,Blend Four Victorian Red Smooth and Blend Ten City Multi
Smooth are standard blends normally held in stock in the 73mm format.
Other blends in the 73mm format are usually available within two
weeks of ordering.
The City Blend and Match range is also available in the 65mm format,
with Blend One Red Mix Smooth and Blend Ten City Multi Smooth
normally held in stock.Other blends in the 65mm format are usually
available within three weeks of ordering.
Using quality controlled and programmed blending systems at the
production unit,the exact blend of facing brick will then be faithfully
produced and supplied to the project.
The City Blend and Match range offers the colour blending guarantee,
ensuring a balanced blend is supplied,providing that the bricks are
taken from the packs as recommended by Marshalls.

Marshalls offers an extensive and modern Cut and Bond facility
which fully supports the majority of the British Standard special
shaped brick range.
The process sees two or more units of standard brick cut,bonded
and shaped to meet specifiers design requirements.

Prefabricated Brickwork
Increased use of Prefabricated Brickwork panels has been driven by the
need for lean construction and to completely enclose buildings against
the elements as quickly as possible.By sealing the building envelope,
internal fitting out can be carried out at the same time as the external
cladding is constructed,significantly enhancing the speed of construction.
Marshalls can supply precast panels faced with any brick from its
extensive range. Bricks are cut to specified dimensions in Marshalls
hi-tech cutting factory to ensure that the standard perforation pattern
forms a dovetail which when backfilled with concrete,forms an
exceptionally tight key.
Various size panels can be created to suit the building design and
colour consistency is excellent. Supply chain flow is also enhanced
by factory controlled production allowing just in timedeliveries.
Chemical and Abrasion
Resistant Ceramics
Specialist Chemical and Abrasion Resistant bricks,paver,tiles and linings
are manufactured to serve the chemical,power,petrochemical,
metallurgical,food,fertiliser,pharmaceutical and associated industries
internationally.
Marshalls NORI acid resistant products are used to line steel process
vessels,concrete tanks,effluent pits,gas scrubbers and industrial
chimneys providing the first line of protection against chemical attack,
impact or abrasion.The bricks,tiles and pavers,which have extremely
low water absorption characteristics,are considerably denser and
