Lisle Chamber LEADS Group Tuesday, November 25, 2014 8:00 a.m. Ness Exotic Wellness Center 1007 Maple Avenue Lisle, IL 60532 It is November already and although I dont cherish the colder weather and shorter daylight hours I feel ready for it this year. Last week I attended an Economic Forecast breakfast put on by the Naperville Chamber and hosted by Calamos at the Hotel Arista. There was an optimistic tone to the presentations with regard to the future growth of the U.S. economy. Job growth among small businesses has been pretty good and is projected to continue. For our part the Chamber has had a good month for membership and the success of Ale Fest has helped us to remain financially strong. Last month we started the Lisle Chamber Leads group. It is doing well under the chairmanship of Tom Thornton of Action Screen Print. We welcome new noncompeting members to the group and I urge you to contact Tom or me if you are interested. Tom can be reached at tom@actionscreen.com. Thanks to Melanie Ness at Ness Exotic Wellness Center for hosting the meetings. The midterm elections are the 4 th of November, the first Tuesday of the month. There will be several propositions on the ballot and it is important to have your preferences expressed with your vote. The chamber does not endorse candidates but we hope you will make your feelings known by participating. We held two Business After Hours during October and we thank Advanced Lisle Dental and St. Joan of Arc for hosting and providing great food and ample beverages. There are always new contacts at these events so they provide a broader horizon for our members. Welcome to our new members that are listed elsewhere in this publication. Our numbers are growing a bit with the fall season. We hope you will reach out to them and provide a warm Lisle Chamber welcome. We are known to be a friendly chamber and I thank you for all you do to advance that feeling especially our Ambassadors. As we move into the next month I am very excited that we have been able to schedule Craig Culver as our November 20 th luncheon speaker. He is a founder of the highly successful Culvers restaurant chain. Through the good work of Bob Esposito one of the local Culvers franchise owners and a Chamber member we were able to land Craig as our guest. We expect a large turnout so book your reservations early. We will be joining Chamber 630 at the November 19 th Business after Hours at the West Suburban Community Pantry. You should not miss this very enjoyable event with multiple food options. We look forward to seeing Barbara and Roger Schmith along with the staff of this valuable community resource. We thank the pantry for hosting and for aiding all those families who need assistance. I want to say a special thank you to Jill Eidukas our Office and Events Manager and Jen Sumner Office Assistant for all they do throughout the year. I would be lost without them. Finally we wish you and yours a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

November is here! We can finally vote and stop being annoyed by all those TV commercials. Have you voted yet? Today may not be an official election day, but you can still cast your vote and opinions on how your Chamber is doing! We have a Chamber Survey up on our website. It literally takes 3 minutes or less! Please do your chamber leadership a favor, and give us your feedback and ideas.
Are you like me? Is local/state government not only something that interests you, but concerns you as a business owner? Our Government Affairs Committee might be just the thing for you to get involved in. Being involved on a committee benefits your business more than you think! Your Lisle Chamber has many dif- ferent active committees that can not only benefit from you, but also be a bene- fit to you. Give one of these a try!

November is also a month of reflection and thanks -- for families, friends, bless- ings, etc, We have such a unique and special community in Lisle and in our Area Chamber of Commerce. I am so grateful not only that I was able to grow up in this area, but that my children did too. As my chairmanship of the Lisle Chamber Board of Directors is coming to a close, I am reflecting on how thank- ful I am for the privilege of serving in such a way! Weve capitalized on the mo- mentum and growth this chamber is experiencing. Lets keep it going! Page 3 November 2014

CHAMBER RAVES
On Friday October 17, 2014 Bureau Chief Jim French of the Lisle Woodridge Fire District was recognized by the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association at their Annual Fire Prevention Weeks Awards Luncheon. Chief French was introduced as the final recipient for the highest award given by the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association, an award that has only been given out a handful of times in the history of the organization, one that dates back to 1967. As a Past-President of the association and the current Certification Chairman, he was not only recognized for his leadership and participation of various committees for the organization, but his tireless efforts in working on a statewide task of redeveloping the certification standard for Fire Inspectors and Public Educators in Illinois.
Several of our Chamber members generously donated books to benefit Lisle youth served by the Lisle Township Food Pantry and General Assistance Programs. We would like to acknowledge: Choice Eye Care, Costco, Gonda & Moore, D.D.S., Haug Chiropractic, Holistic Health Care Centers, The Nook, and Insight Property Services for their contribution to the Lisle Community.
