This readme contains important information about EMC

Ionix ControlCenter

6.1 Patch 5006.
Read this document before installing Patch 5006.

This patch contains:

July 2012 Oracle Critical Patch Update (OCPU) for Oracle Database Server .
Oracle Database Server Version 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.5) Patch 18
Contains the fix for the oracle listener vulnerability
Slow TCPS connection bug fixed in this patch.

Prerequisites

You must have EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 4 (Using Installation
A02/ A04/ A05 Kit) or above installed before installing the Patch 5006.

NOTE: Read this document carefully, as we have automated the procedure for OCPU Patch 5006.

NOTE: Do not use the terminal services to connect to the Repository host for installing this patch.

NOTE: This readme is not applicable for Microsoft Cluster Environment.

NOTE: Before installing the Patch 5006 run the latest ControlCenter Environment Checker utility
to check if any Oracle DLLs are being used by any Ionix ControlCenter services that you may
need to stop prior to installing the patch.
NOTE: Stop Antivirus, SNARE and TSM backup Application.
NOTE: Should have minimum of 6GB Free Disk Space where ECC is installed.

Backing up the EMC ControlCenter Infrastructure

Perform a complete backup of EMC ControlCenter Infrastructure before starting this OCPU
patch.
If Ionix ControlCenter is installed on a Virtual Machine, create a snapshot of Ionix ControlCenter
hosts on which you will be applying the patch.
If Ionix ControlCenter is running on a physical host, perform the following backup procedure:
1. Install the Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Backup and Restore Utility Patch 4938 or 4990 on all
the Infrastructure Servers. The Backup and Restore Utility - 4938 or 4990 Patch Readme
provides more information.
2. Run backup.bat in the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ HF4938 or 4990 directory on all the
Infrastructure servers except on the servers that has only the Performance Manager GUI
Client installed with no other Ionix ControlCenter components.
3. Reboot the server.
4. Copy the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ directory to another storage location.
5. Change the Ionix ControlCenter and Oracle services startup state back to Automatic.

NOTE: Patch 4938 is applicable for ControlCenter installed using A02/ A04 kit and Patch 4990 is
applicable for ControlCenter installed using A05 kit. Refer readme document for more
information.

WARNING: Ensure that all the Application Services on Ionix ControlCenter Repository and
StorageScope Hosts which uses Oracle are stopped. Installation can fail, if Oracle DLL or any file
is used by any application.
Installing the patch

1. Log in to the Ionix ControlCenter Repository host using an account with an administrator
privileges to the local system.

2. Back up the Ionix ControlCenter using the following procedure:
a. Hot Backup: From the command prompt, execute the following:
> cd /d %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts
> ramb_hotback.bat

The following message appears:
Database Hot Backup Successful See ramb_hotback.log for details.

Note: The hot backup requires the RAMBBACKUPDIR environment variable to be
defined to a directory with enough free space. You can assign any value to the variable
during the installation. You can change the value later.
b. Export: From the command prompt, execute the following:
> cd /d %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts
> ramb_export_db.bat

The following message appears:
Export terminated successfully without warnings.

3. Back up the EMC StorageScope database by performing the following procedure:
a. Cold Backup: From the command prompt, execute the following:
> cd /d %emcstsoh%\admin\emcsts_scripts
> emcsts_coldback.bat

The following message appears:
Database cold backup is successful... See emcsts_coldback.log for details.

b. Export: From the command prompt, execute the following:
> cd /d %emcstsoh%\admin\emcsts_scripts
> emcsts_export_db.bat

The following message appears:
Export terminated successfully without warnings.

4. Copy the contents of the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ecc to a backup location.

Note: If you have Ionix ControlCenter and StorageScope repositories installed on the
same host, perform step 2 and 3 for each repository.

5. Extract the contents of the CC_5006.zip in temporary directory of ECC Server and
StorageScope Server system. After extracting you will find SQL_PATCH_5006.zip

6. Extract the SQL_PATCH_5006.zip to local drive of ECC Server.
Example: C:\ or D:\

WARNING: Before extracting, check and delete any copies of the patch across the drives
visible to the Ionix ControlCenter repository server.

7. Verify the contents of sql_patch_5006 for the following contents:

Note: If these contents are not present, delete the extracted files and folders and repeat
the extraction.

8. Verify that the Ionix ControlCenter Repository is working as expected by executing the
following command:

> cd /d %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts
> ramb_recomp_invalid.bat

WARNING: If the batch file execution fails, contact EMC customer support team. Do not
proceed beyond this step.

9. Verify that the StorageScope Repository is working as expected by executing the following
command:

> cd /d %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\emcsts_scripts
> emcsts_recomp_invalid.bat

The following message appears:

Success!
Success!

Success!
Invalid Objects Re-compiled Successfully, please see emcsts_recomp_invalid.log for
details.

WARNING: If the batch file execution fails, contact EMC customer support team. Do not
proceed beyond this step.

Note: If you have Ionix ControlCenter and StorageScope repositories installed on the
same host, perform step 4 and 5 for each repository.

10. Open the command prompt and navigate to the folder where sql_patch_5006.zip is
extracted. For example, C:\sql_patch_5006.

11. Execute the following command:

Prereboot.bat

This batch file stops the required services to apply July 2012 OCPU and changes the service
Start type to disabled or manual as appropriate.

Note: Refer to the list of services that are stopped by the Prereboot.bat script.

WARNING: The Prereboot.bat script may fail due to an error related to
ramb_recomp_invalid job that is running. The message displayed (DB has connectivity issue)
due to this error is incorrect and misleading. After checking the log it is observed that the
problem is because of the ramb_recom_invalid job and not because of the database
connectivity issue.

12. Restart the repository host.

13. Open the command prompt and navigate to the folder where sql_patch_5006.zip was
extracted. For example, C:\sql_patch_5006.

14. Execute the following command:

Postreboot.bat

This batch file checks if any Oracle DLLs are used by any other application.
If any of the listed services are not stopped, the following messages appear. Type the
values given below:
o Is the above listed application or service stopped? [y or n].
Type n
o Do you want to abort patch installation? [y or n].
Type y
o Do you want to revert back the services? [y or n].
Type y
o Execute the Prereboot.bat command to stop these services and then execute
the Postreboot.bat command.
If any Oracle DLLs are not used by any other application, the batch file u pgrades Oracle
to 10.2.0.5 (if applicable) and then it applies the July 2012 - OCPU.

To revert back the listed services to the previous state type y when then following message
appears:

Do you want to revert back the services? [y or n]

Note: If the oracle services fail with an error Oracle not responding in timely manner,
resolve it by creating an ORA_DBA group on the nodes under Local User and Group.

15. Perform any of the following procedure to verify that the patch is installed successfully:

a) Execute the opatch lsinventory command from the
%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\repository\opatch directory. Check for July 2012 OCPU
number 14408634.

Note: This tool is provided by Oracle and is recommended to use it to verify the patch
installation.

b) Execute the installedecccompbycomp.bat command from the
%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts directory.

c) Execute the emcsts_hotfixstatus.bat command from the
%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\emcsts_scripts directory.
