Walden offers both state-approved educator licensure programs as well as programs and courses that do not lead to licensure or endorsements.
Prospective students must review their state licensure requirements prior to enrolling. For more information, please refer to www.WaldenU.edu/educlicensure.
Prospective Alabama students: Contact the Teacher Education and Certifcation Division of the Alabama State Department of Education at 1-334-242-9935
or www.alsde.edu to verify that these programs qualify for teacher certifcation, endorsement, and/or salary benefts.
Prospective Washington state students are advised to contact the Offce of the Superintendent of Public Instruction at 1-360-725-6275 or prof.educ@k12.wa.us
to determine whether Waldens programs in the feld of education are approved for teacher certifcation or endorsements in Washington state.
Additionally, teachers are advised to contact their individual school district as to whether this program may qualify for salary advancement.
Note to all Pennsylvania residents: Walden Universitys teacher preparation program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching as leading to licensure. Because this program is not
reviewed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, candidates are instructed to apply for Pennsylvania certifcation as out-of-state graduates of a teacher preparation program.
Waldens Ed.S. in College Teaching and Learning and Ed.D. with a specialization in College Teaching and Learning focuses on the development of scholarly teaching knowledge and skills.
It does not necessarily provide individuals with all of the course credits required to teach in a particular academic discipline; therefore, additional subject-specifc graduate credits may
be needed. Individuals are responsible for ensuring that they meet the credentialing requirements of the institution where they want to teach. Walden makes no representation or
guarantee that completion of this coursework will permit an individual to teach at a higher education institution.
Walden Universitys endorsement program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching for endorsement or add-on licensure in Minnesota. Candidates for this program must already
hold a valid K12 teaching license. Waldens enrollment advisors can provide individuals with guidelines and other information about endorsements. It remains the individuals responsibility to
understand and comply with the out-of-state endorsement requirements for the state in which he or she seeks to be endorsed.
Many countries have their own accrediting bodies, and degree recognition differs from country to country. Prospective students who reside outside of the
United States are advised to review accreditation requirements for their own country to confrm recognition of their Walden program of choice.
Note on Certifcation and Licensure, Authorization, Endorsement, or Other State Credential Necessary to Practice as a Nurse Practitioner
The MSN nurse practitioner specializations are designed to prepare graduates to qualify to sit for national nurse practitioner certifcation exams and to prepare graduates who possess an
active registered nurse (RN) license to practice as nurse practitioners. However, each state Board of Nursing has its own academic and certifcation requirements and issues its own credential
for an RN to be permitted to practice as a nurse practitioner in that state. Walden enrollment advisors can provide information relating to national certifcation exams and guidance relating
to the state-by-state requirements for practice as a nurse practitioner; however, it remains the individuals responsibility to understand, evaluate, and comply with all requirements relating
to national certifcation exams for the state in which he or she intends to practice as requirements vary widely. Walden makes no representations or guarantee that completion of Walden
coursework or programs will permit an individual to obtain national certifcation or to obtain state licensure, authorization, endorsement, or other state credential.
