Reading and Writing
The children are working very hard
during reading time! Students are learning
the system for centers called Daily 5 This
includes 5 di!erent rotations Students
are "racticing working inde"endently at
each center #nce the students get used
to this routine$ % will &e a&le to work with
small grou"s to read level'a""ro"riate
&ooks and work on reading
com"rehension skills and strategies with
the students
Writer(s Worksho" has &egun and the
children are learning that good writers
write a&out what they know We are also
learning how to sound out words in our
writing Students are also working on
using ca"ital letters$ s"aces$ and "eriods
correctly We are reviewing the "ro"er
formation of letters This includes writing
letters from to" to &ottom and using the
lines "ro"erly

and hundreds charts to identify num&ers
that are one more and one less than a
given num&er We will discuss strategies
for &asic addition and su&traction Similar
to reading we have a center rotation where
the students "ractice the skills that they
are learning in the classroom while % am
meeting with a small grou"
