AutoCAD Self-paced Learning Modules
®

AutoCAD 2D
Module 31
Competency Test No.6

Learning Outcomes:
When you have completed this module, you will be able to:

1. Within a three hour time limit, complete a written exam and the lab exercises without the
aid of a key.

Competency Tests
The AutoCAD Self-paced Learning Modules are written as competency based modules. What
that means to you as a student is that you have not completed each module until you have
mastered it. To master a module, you must prove you understand the material contained in it
and complete the lab exercise(s) with 100% accuracy within the specified time limit.
In a competency test module there are multiple choice questions and a comprehensive lab
exercise to test your mastery of the set of modules you just completed. There are no answers
supplied with this module since it is meant to be checked by your instructor. If there are any
parts of this module that you have trouble completing, go back and reread the module(s)
containing the information you are having trouble with. If necessary, redo the lab exercise(s) in
that module(s).
Students attending this Course in a Classroom Setting
If you are a student completing this course in a classroom setting, your instructor will give you
instructions on what to do after you complete this module.
Students Completing this Course by Correspondence or Distance
Education
Complete the following steps:
Step 1 Answer the 10 multiple choice questions on pages 31-2 to 31-3. Record the
answers.
Step 2 Complete Lab Exercise 31-1 on page 31-4 to 31-8.
Step 3 Login into the website www.cadinstructors.com with your name and ID number.
In the website, write the online written test for Module 31 - Competency Test No. 6.
It has the same 10 questions that you answered in Step 1.
Step 4 Attach the file AutoCAD 2D Lab 31-1.dwg to the test when you write it. Follow the
prompts when you are writing the test.
Step 5 If you have any problems completing Steps 1 to 4, ask your instructor for help.
Step 6 Go on to Module 32.

2. Complete the following:

A Draw the original object on layer Object.
B 1. Copy the original object from A to location B.
2. Erase all polygons inside the object.
3. Using the PEDIT command, convert the
outside boundary to a closed polyline.
4. Change its layer to Boundary.
5. The linetype should appear as the figure to
the right.
C. 1. Copy the original object from A to the location
C.
2. Explode all objects.
D. 1. Copy the object from C to location D.
2. Scale it to half size.
3. Erase the 5 small circles.

E. 1. Copy the object from D to location E.

2. Create the hatch patterns on layer Hatch as shown below:
a) Triangle: Pattern - ANSI31, Scale 5
b) Square: Pattern - ANSI34, Scale 5
c) Pentagon: Pattern - AR-PARQ1, Scale 0.2
d) Hexagon: Pattern - SOLID, Scale N/A
e) Heptagon: Pattern - CORK, Scale 5
f) Octagon 2: Pattern - AR-SAND, Scale 0.5
g) Outer Object: Pattern ESCHER, Scale 10
Note: You may have to adjust the scales of
the hatch patterns to appear as shown on
the right.
F. 1. Copy the object from D to location F.
2. Explode all objects.
3. Move all the polygons outside the border of
the drawing. Before you move them, mark
the location of the centers. You will be
inserting blocks at those locations.
Hint: Draw a line from the center on the
construction layer. The end of the line is
the center location.
4. Create the following blocks on layer 0,
color white:
a) Triangle
b) Square
c) Pentagon
d) Hexagon
e) Octagon Note: See dimension
shown below.
5. Insert the blocks as shown below on layer Block.
Center lines are to help you with the rotation
angle only. Do not draw them. Insert the block
on the same center the polygons were in when
you started.
