JOB SUMMARY:
The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's
Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.
U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) is located near the Arizona-California-Mexico border, adjacent to
the Colorado River, approximately 15 miles north of the outskirts of the city of Yuma (pop 87,000),
Arizona. Yuma is a 2.5 hour drive from San Diego, CA and Phoenix, AZ along Interstate Highway 8 and a
5-6 hour drive from Las Vegas, NV. Situated in the far-southwest corner of the state, the proving ground
is in the heart of the great Sonoran desert where the US Army tests medium and long range artillery,
aircraft target acquisition equipment and armament, armored and wheeled vehicles, and a variety of
munitions, and personnel and supply parachute systems to ensure that Americas ground forces have the
equipment necessary to win our nations battles. With a land mass of approximately 1300 square miles,
YPG proudly holds the distinction of being one of the largest military installations in the world. Most of
the civilian workforce participates in a 4 day work week (Monday-Thursday) schedule, providing ample
off-duty opportunity to enjoy abundant year round recreational opportunities such as golf, fishing,
hunting, swimming, tubing, hiking, off-roading, or visiting local historical venues.

Perform duties under general supervision in accordance with established guidelines. Receives instructions
regarding scope of work, and application/interpretation of procedures and regulations. Supervisor is
available to provide guidance and assistance on unusual problems. Work is evaluated on
accomplishments, technical accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with position requirements.
A Child and Youth Services Administrative Assistant's primary duties; Receive children, youth, parents,
and other visitors in a courteous manner. Answer telephones, ascertain nature of call and direct caller to
appropriate staff, take a message or personally provides desired information. Provide customer service
expected in a "First Choice" organization. Utilize an electronic cash register system and calculator to
compute and record individual transactions for customers and to enter data into predefined categories for
regulatory signed statistical reports and tracking of income data as it pertains to the Child and Youth
Services (CYS) program as required. Input data into Child and Youth Management System as required.
Provide administrative support including typing/word processing, mail preparation, copying distribution,
telephone calls and travel orders for CYS personnel. Using office automation equipment and word
processing software, prepare correspondence, memorandums, briefings and Daily Activity and other
reports required for day-to-day operation. Refer to agency regulations, flip charts, dictionaries, and other
typical office reference materials to ensure proper format, grammatical accuracy, and correct spelling.
Maintain records, files, statistical data, and suspense system.
Initiate Civilian Personnel actions and help track background clearance checks. Assist in maintaining
leave records, and time and attendance records. Prepare invoices, supply and equipment requests.
Use e-mail to send and retrieve messages. Understand and articulate policies relating to patron fees,
waiting lists and program events. Coordinate vacancies and reservations for the hourly care program as
required. Work cooperatively with Resource and Referral to track program vacancies and occupancy rates
as required.
Ensure risk management procedures (i.e., abuse prevention, identification, and reporting procedures;
accident prevention, etc.) are followed.
Monitor supplies and resources. Order office supplies. Assist in facility key control.

Candidates must:

1. Be able to operate a manual or electric typewriter and current automation system and software

(Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel) required.


2. Must be able to type 40 wpm.
3. Must have knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation and composition techniques
needed to accurately type a variety of material from written sources or voice recordings.
4. Possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

HIGHLY PREFERRED: Knowledge of formats, forms, typing policies and common terminology of the
program for which the work is to be performed.

Your qualifications will be evaluated based upon the factors detailed in the qualification requirements. All
eligible applicants who qualify under the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first. All qualifications

5. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the
facility as determined by medical authority. Already immune individuals (based on documented receipt
of vaccine series or physician diagnosed illness), or those subject to religious exemption, or
contraindication are exempt from this requirement.
6. Social Security Card must be presented at time of appointment.
