Description
Thank you very much for choosing the UMTS wireless access system of ZTE Corporation
The UMTS wireless access system of ZTE is a 3G mobile communication system developed on a basis of the UMTS technology. It
features strong capability in CS and PS service processing and provides diversified services. Compared with GSM, UMTS delivers a
wider range of telecommunication services, including such multimedia services as voice, data, and image transmission, with higher
rate and resource utilization ratio.
ZXWR RNC, a new generation radio network controller in the ZTE
UMTS V3 family, delivers functions of system access control, security mode control, mobility management, and radio resource management and control, etc.
ZXWR RNC provides all the functions defined in the 3GPP
R99/R4/R5/R6/R7 protocol, and offers Iu, Iub, and Iur series
standard interfaces, which enable it to connect with CNs, RNCs,
and Node Bs from different manufacuturers.
Developed on a basis of ZTE all IP unified hardware platform,
ZXWR RNC features a distributed design, separating control plane
and user plane as well as interface and application. It supports
ATM/IP dual protocol stack and can smoothly evolve to full IP
UTRAN.

Hardware Replacement
Background
It is required to replace a piece of hardware when:
1. The hardware is faulty, and needs to be re-configured or upgraded;
2. There is a such command.
Fans
Fan Subrack
Dustproof Net
1. Unlock the upper and lower extractors of the board, hold them
with both hands, and pull the extractors outwards from the
board panel. Then gently push the board along the upper and
the lower guide rails into corresponding slot of the standard 8U
shelf. Refer to Figure 1.
FIGURE 1 PLUGGING
2. Slowly push the board until the bayonets of the board's extractors enter into corresponding square slots at the upper and
lower brackets of the standard 8U shelf. Refer to Figure 2.
FIGURE 2 PLUGGING
3. After the connectors on the board contact corresponding connectors on the backplane, rotate the upper and lower extractors inwards to push the board to the right position. The "click"
sound indicates that the extractors are locked in the right positions and hooked properly.
4. Use a flathead or phillips screwdriver to fasten the screws on
the upper and lower extractors. Refer to Figure 3.

FIGURE 4 UNPLUGGING
2. Hold the upper and lower extractors with both hands and rotate
them outwards to loosen the extractors from corresponding
square slots on the brackets of the shelf. Refer to Figure 5.
FIGURE 5 UNPLUGGING
3. Slowly pull out the board along the upper and lower guide rails
in the standard 8U shelf, and then carefully detach the board
from the guide rails. Refer to Figure 6.
FIGURE 6 UNPLUGGING
Note:
1. When plugging or unplugging a board, rotate or pull the upper
and lower extractors at the same time.
2. When plugging a board, if you fails to push the board into corresponding slot, take out the board first. Check and make sure
that:
The slot for installing the board is consistent with the required one.
The board does not deviate from the guide rails.
The connector pins on the backplane are not bent or damaged.
