Acceptance Speech of

Prof. Dayo Akinmoladun as President Elect of IJESA PEOPLE IN DIASPORA

ORGANIZATION (I-PID)
@
Ijesa People In Diaspora (I-PID) World Conference - 'ATLANTA 2014'
October 25th, 2014.
My Friends, We are gathered here this evening to witness the passing on of the baton of the
power of service to a new President. Another orderly and peaceful transition of power to serve
all Ijesa both home and in the diaspora and a desire for our noble society. Progress will come in
fits and starts. Its not always a straight line. Its not always a smooth path. By itself, the
recognition that we have common hopes and dreams wont end all the gridlock, resolve all our
problems or substitute for the painstaking work of building consensus and making the difficult
compromises needed to move this I-PID forward. But that common bond is where we must begin.
IJESA KAN DESTINY KAN.
I thank you for your presence and for joining us in celebrating our past as we create and
anticipate the future. I also thank the host community President Dr(Mrs) Esther Oluyemi of
Ijesas of Atlanta and his executives for given us a befitting accommodation
I particularly wish to thank our outgoing I-PID President Bobaseye Akinyemi Olusegun Fasakin
and all the national and regional Presidents of Ijesa Clubs, their executives, and every members
home and in the diaspora. I also want to thank Prof. David Olowokere for accepting to be our
Guest Speaker tonight. I-PID have for years shared the common goal of serving humanity. Our
presence here tonight therefore, further consolidates our believe of UJESA NI A RE.
I feel honored and humbled by the honor bestowed on me by all the members of the I-PID world
wide in electing me to be your next President and carry the touch to continue on the foundation
laid by my predecessor Bobaseye Akinyemi Fasakin, the Bobaseye of lsolo-ljesaland.
My pathway in I-PID service will reflect a display of guided mentorship and best practices which
I received from10years as a Professor with Bronx Community College of the City university of
New York, 4years as a Director of Special Duties and Head of Department at Osun State
University and 3years as Dean of Student and Chairman Committee of Deans and Director at
Samuel Adegboyega University Edo State. While not signifying my capacity or lack thereof, I
hope it reflects on my adequate preparation!
I request all our national and regional past and present Presidents of Ijesa clubs who form our
resident Council of Elders to kindly stand up for recognition. I also request all our I-PID Charter
members to kindly stand up as since 2011 when our I-PID was envisioned, We are here because
of your vision. Thank you.
Dear Members, every year our focus is very clearly guided by our core values in IJESA: Services,
Diversity, Integrity,Fellowship, and Leadership; for these are the values we live by and strive to
bring into Ijesa communities we servehome and in the diaspora. They are values that define us as
lJESAS

Our Immediate Past-President Bobaseye Akinyemi Fasakin has ably enumerated on our activities
in the past and especially during his tenure. A tree is not felled with one strike these are
achievements which have been passed on in which we share and stand on.
Let me briefly outline our shared plans during this year. Our plans are in tandem with the Vision
2020; Six year development plan for the homeland:
Engage I-PID Changing life and creating self dependency : President Andrew Dayo
Akinmoladuns Presidential Citation and our strategic plan:
A. Membership
Our strength as a I-PID lies in the diversity of our membership. Each member will be tasked to
introduce a new member during the current year.
We plan to introduce programs to maintain a member retention rate of 90% while increasing IPID membership and diversity by 75%.
Networking events where I-PIDmembers will meet and introduce diverse local professionals to IPID will be a major platform, in addition to community service visits with prospective members.
We share the privilege and pride of I-PID beyond ourselves.
We shall continue to ensure that members have Fun while participating in any I-PID activity.
Serving our communities with Fun will be our guiding principle.
B. Humanitarian Service Through The I-PID Foundation
We shall tap into the process of qualifying for Federal and State Future Vision which will qualify
I-PID as a Non Governmental organization (NGO). This will enable us to participate in projects
funded by a Global Grant or Packaged Grant either by the Federal, State or International
Organizations such as World bank or World health organization.
ENGAGE I-PID TO CHANGE LIVES IN THE AREAS OF:
Maternal and Child Health;
- Basic Education and Literacy;
- Economic and Community Development.
- Youth engagement through soccer games
- Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution;
C. Networking Through Family Ijesa Clubs
We plan to strengthen our network by holding fellowships within the year that will involve all
Ijesa club members and their families. Our family members who are not Ijesas will benefit by
getting to know what we as I-PID member do and stand for and I-PID members will benefit from
their families support of their I-PID activities.
We hope that such close engagement with family members will motivate families to become
financial members in their areas of life in addition to creating the platform for considering to join
I-PID thereafter.
Our support for the New Generations will be steadfast, you are young and your vibrancy shows
in your faces and speed of action and out-of-the box thinking; take this out and let us work
towards sharing this opportunity with other young people through inviting peers in addition to

forming new I-PID. I appeal to all Presidents of all Ijesa Clubs to share in our goal of supporting
our New Generations of youths by jointly establishing at least one get together event during this
year.
I am honored my friends. It is a great and honorable challenge that you have bestowed on me. I
believe that together we will make it. Most of all, I welcome you all to join us anytime during
our schedule conference as need arises
I pledge my support to strengthen the partnership and friendship among all Ijesa Clubs both
home and in the diaspora and look forward to extending what our predecessors began to also
include partnership in projects, our service to community, networking with partners and in
addition to engaging our I-PID and all Ijesa Clubs and also with other Clubs for our brotherhood
and sisterhood.
My Friends, may God bless I-PID, ONE IJESA ONE DESTINY
Guided by the core values of I-PID: Leadership, Diversity, Integrity,Service, and Fellowship, I
accept to serve as the President of I-PID
Thanks and God Bless.
