ThesearethegeneralguidelinesforusingFileOpenpluginsinremotedesktopserver
environmentssuchasCitrixorWindowsTerminalServer:

First,youneedaversionthatwillworkinremotedesktopenvironments.Thismeansyouneed
versionB928orhigherinstallerscurrentlyavailablefromhttp://plugin.fileopen.com/all.aspx.
OnlythesehaveanecessarybugfixforrunninginremotedesktopenvironmentslikeCitrixand
WindowsTerminalServer.

Drawbackstothisversioninclude:

ItwillnotsupportAdobeReaderXI(aka11)atallif/whenupgradetimecomes.
Publishershavetheabilitytorestrictwhichclientversionmayviewtheirdocument;this
versionmayfallbelowagivenpublisher'sthreshold.
ItcannotcopewithPDFfilesthatcontainthePDFversion1.5objectknownasa

TheB928+pluginsrequireacompanionprocesscalledtheFileOpenBrokertorunperuser,
launchingatuserlogintime.Theplugininstallerattemptstomakethathappenbywritingto
theregistryatHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Ifthisregistrywritebytheinstallerissuppressedbysitelocalpoliciesthenyouwillneedto
configureyoursystemstolaunchtheFileOpenBroker[32or64].exeprocessatlogintime.
BecauseCitrixhasitsownwayofconfiguringforthis,theCitrixdrivenlaunchmaybethemore
elegantsolutiongiventheenvironment.WindowsTerminalServerusersmayfindthatadding

whensettingupuseraccountsworksinstead.Buttheinstallerhasnowayofknowingthe
specificrequirementsforallsystems,soitjustdoeswhatitcan.

factthatitisrunning,oneinstanceforeachloggedinuser,isimportant.TheB928pluginsalso

TheFileOpenpluginstorespermissionrelatedinformationin%APPDATA%\FileOpen.Thiswill
mostlikelybeintheroaminguserprofilethatisnecessaryintheCitrixenvironment.Butifnot,
expecttoseepermissionproblemsasuserslogintodifferentmachinesinacluster.

Thepluginitself(nottheplugininstaller)alsowritestotheregistryat
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FileOpen.Policiesthatpreventthismaybreakcorrectplugin
functionality.
