"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same

Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but
the same Lord.

There are different kinds of

workings, but the same God works all of them

In all men."

"Now to each the manifestation of the Spirit Is

given for the common good."
I Cor. 12:4-7

In our TEE-Blble Institute Programs we hold seminars at

the beginning of each book. These seminars include
preparation for the new book, lessons for student preachers
and general lessons for the Church to meet or answer
specific needs. The specific need voiced by the Church is
about a lack of unity. Our problem is that we have people,
Christians, who are dividing the Church because of pride
and jealousy. One Christian or Elder, or Preacher, sees
another who has a position of responsibility, a gift, and he
becomes jealous and responds to the other by striking out.
The manner of attack here is by letter of accusation delivered
during one of the Church's regional meetings. The letters are
never signed and most, if not all, of the accusations are
untrue. These letters, if published abroad, always cause
division, because everyone takes a side. As an answer to this
problem, what better section of scripture to study than I
Corinthians 12, 13 and 14? Spiritual Gifts, Love and Unity.
What a perfect guideline for unity, God the Father, God the
Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is One and even though we
are different, and serve differently, and receive different gifts,
out of these differences we are one. How? We who receive

different gifts from God remember that these gifts have been
given for the common good. Not MY gift! But Our gift made
manifest in me. I am and you are, what we are in the Body for
our common good. It'ssimplereallyandquiteclear. Iflhave
a gift from God I have it to profit the Body wholly and

individually and the result of its use will be unity!

It's really wonderful when we Christians of
America can help our brothers and sisters here to
seek the common good in their differences and
as a result to find unity. I say this with tongue in
cheek because I think that we have not learned

this simple lesson ourselves. We fight over Gifts

of the Spirit. Gifts are individual and are for the

good of one person. His personal gift! Hier

archies are developed showing one gift being of
more value than another and more sought after.
Following in line with this attitude is pride and
jealousy! Fellowship is determined by agree
ment on a particular notion about gifts and in that
differences are denied. The Body of Christ
becomes an eye that is never seeing or an ear that
is never hearing."
How clear is this message from the Holy Spirit
about Himself? I think that we really need to ask
ourselves, "In what way has the Body of Christ
profitted from ME?" "As a result of my work,
service, or gift, is there unity?" We here in Zaire
are asking ourselves these questions. We urge
you to do the same.

book. And the results were great, not perfect of

course, but really encouraging. There were
some delays and conflicts with other needs and
some difficulties, but nothing insurmountable.
Even with problems we have seen a tremendous
attitude among those who are leading the TEE
Schools, We have heard of what people are
doing with their prayer lives and what is
happening as a result of prayer. They say that

they did not know how to pray, nor what to expect

from it. Now that they have learned, things are
happening.
When we started the first book we had 186

students and only lost 10% of these during the ten

weeks. The teachers report that more people are
asking to begin so that we are expecting a 44%
increase in students forthesecond book. Wewill

also be adding two new schools in areas that

were without them before. In one case when the

appointed teacher failed to keep the class going

the assistant took it over and finished without

losing anyone except the teacher. The increase

we see here is great and the reason for it is the
attitude of those who are leading the schools.
One thing you must remember is how different
this new program is from the old one. Before,
each school would only finish two weeks of
lessons in a month's time and a whole book in five

months'. Everything depended on the Mission

ary's showing up each month to keep the pro
gram going. Now everything is in the hands of the
teachers and their assistants. We have a seminar

and then they do not need us again until the next

book. In this program we can complete four
books in a year as opposed to two before and
each book retains its continuity. The important
thing is that this is their program and is
dependent on their efforts for it to survive, and we
are only technical assistants.

So what is book number two?

This book is

called, "Kanuni za Biblia-Wokovu" or "Doctrines

TEE THE SECOND BOOK

How exciting it is to be writing this article. In

the September Lions Line we related to you

about the "New" TEE Program. In this program
the students are learning and doing. The first
book was "Talking with God," which was on
prayer. That book with exams was to take ten
weeks.

Time is a difficult thing to contend with in that

there is such a delay between what we do and
when you find out about it. When you received
that last report we were already back to collect
the results and start the process for the secorjd

of the Bible-Salvation." It is designed for a nonChristian to study as a means of leading him to a

decision. This is how we are using this book. The
book is only four weeks long, so for the first four
weeks the TEE students study to see how the
book works and to memorize appropriate
scriptures. Week five they have a test over the
whole book and review to make sure they
understand it. Weeks six thru nine they lead a
non-Christian thru a study of this book. During
these weeks the TEE school continues to meet

with the study of more relevant scriptures and

discussions concerning their progress. The third
week in this book is decision week and only those

who have come to faith and have been baptized

into Christ will go on to week four, which is

concerning the new life in Christ. You can see
the potential here for growth in numbers. How
many will believe as a direct result of this? How
many of these will then tell others? This could
really spark a growth in numbers for our
Churches! But what we really want to happen is
that forthe first time our Christians will share the
faith with someone else. I don't think that it is out

of line to figure that 90% of the people In our

Churches have never done anything in the way of
evangelism. If by using this book they gain In that
experience, and gain confidence to do it again,
and again, then this book will truly have been a
success. We want It to be a tool by which they
can mature In the spirit and gain confidence In
his power.
I want you to be praying again and again forthe
TEE program here.
This next book really
emphasizes the "doing" aspect of our program.

Illinois Baird and Butler in "The Road of Doom.

The book will start about mid-November and

finish mid-January. Whenever you receive this

report pray for us. I'm particularly concerned for
this one because I wrote the teachers' guide for It.

ROADS???
It would seem that you hear a lot about our
roads, and you do, but they figure in to what we
do. How are the roads? I'm glad you asked! To
give you a clue, we have not been Into Kislngani
since August. Remember it Is only 160 miles to
Kislngani. As I remember that Is a IVi or 3 hour
trip where you are. Right now It Is taking the large
trucks, commercial carriers, over a week and the
smaller pickup type vehicles three to four days, if
they can get around the bigger holes.
You remember that we get our fuel, flour,
sugar, construction supplies, case goods, etc.,
from Kisingani. When we can't get through, then
we have to get those things from Bukavu and fly
them in and that Is very expensive. Actually with
the building that Mike Walton is doing, he can't
get cement or lumber from anywhere but
Kisingani. When we go we have to go with the big
truck and you can see what that means. Almost
three weeks on the road just in traveling, just in
getting there and getting back. Possibly a month
away from Bafwasende.
We had wanted to go to Wamba in ordertovisit
our Churches there. Wamba is East and North of

here as opposed to Kisingani which is West. I

think you will remember my mentioning Wamba

before and we have yet to visit with those people.

So while Ron Butler was here we determined to

Deluxe accommodations on the Bomili Road.

do it. We made only 15 miles in one hour and

fifteen minutes and in that 15 miles we had to

negotiate more than 20 very bad holes or wash

outs.

Before we reached 15 miles it started

raining and at 15 miles we held a vote. It was

unanimous that If we wanted to get back we
better turn around then and we did.

So then, to add to our dilemma, we had two

visitors. They were Jerry and Phil who are British

Engineers specializing in Bailey Bridges. Baileys

are named after their designer and were
developed as temporary for military use. All the
bridges In our area, and they looked at twenty,
are Baileys and have been in place for over
twenty years. Jerry and Phil had the job of
inventorying each bridge and seeing what they
would need to be fixed and a projected cost.
Their comment was that It is a miracle that they
are not all collapsed. For one thing, they were
designed for 15 to 20 tons and the trucks here are
hauling over 30 tons. Sometimes it would be
better to not know certain things.

Just another Missionary horror story for you.

Would you please pray that the road would open
up for us? Pray for us also to have the strength to
go on and do what needs to be done In spite of
limiting conditions.

Mack and Joyce Myers are not returning to the

field because of health problems.
Wayne and Betsy Duke, new missionaries to
Bafwasende, were originally scheduled to come

in November but will delay until after the first of

the year because of finances.
