Objective of the celebration of womens day

It is said that Women are the real architect of society. To fulfill their duties it is essential
that they should be aware about their basic rights. Our religion has granted the woman
all these rights but unfortunately our culture prevail over religion in context of womens
rights so rights are not being fulfilled as these are conferred by Quran. There are many
reasons for the violation of the same. The most important among them is silence and
unawareness of women about their rights. So in our society silence is considered as
acquiescence culturally and women became deprive from their property rights etc.
Bearing in mind the same the team decided to held an open forum discussion for
women awareness. After getting approval the team made necessary arrangements and

Welcome Remarks and Introduction to SHARP by Mr.Mussadiq FM

SHARP
Mr. Mussadiq Shah Field Manger SHARP Mianwali welcomed
the audiences for their valued participation and introduced them
with SHARP, s activities which are carried out throughout
Pakistan. He gave an overview about the mandate and activities
of SHARP to the participants. He told that SHARP is Islamabad
based organization and is implementing partner of UNHCR. Main
concerns of SHARP are vulnerable people like women, child and poor and needy
persons. He added that main projects carried out by SHARP are ALAC (Advice & legal
Aid Centers) FR (Flood Relief) and RSD (Refugee Status Determination).
After that he came towards womens rights and told the participants about discrimination
between baby girl and baby boy that we consider son as blessing and fortune and
daughter as infortune and burden for our future. A todays mother gives to son a very
healthy and hygienic food whereas her attitude towards her daughter is so worst and
her daughter thinks that she is her step mother. She awakes the girl in early morning
but her son enjoys the sleep till late hours. In short we consider the son our precious
assets whereas about daughters we think that they have to leave the parents home so
we should not spend on them.
He added that our history is filled with achievements of women from the beginning of
Islam as well as women played vital role in getting Pakistan. He told that Quiad e Azam
Muhmamhad Ali Jinnah also encouraged womens participation in achieving Pakistan
and addressed the women in these words; I am glad to see that not only Muslim men
but Muslim women and children also have understood the Pakistan scheme. No nation

can make any progress without the co-operation of its women. If Muslim women support
their men, as they did in the day of the Prophet of Islam, we should soon realize our
goal.
He wrapped up the session by referring the hadith Of Prophet Muhammad PBUH,
Hadrat Amr bin Al-Aas once asked the Holy Prophet: O, Prophet of Allah whom do
you love the most. Ayesha, He replied. As Hazrta Muhmmad PBUH loved to woman
the most He protected the rights of woman and taught the Muslims the same. He added
Allah has kept Jannah under mothers feet so it is upon her to safe her dignity, prestige
and sacredness. He also shared a poem about woman with the participants.

Address by Mr. Ahsan Khan Niazi Advocate Mianwali Bar.

He shared with the audiences that in 1906 when New York people came
in street for the fulfillment of their rights but at that time women had no
right to vote. This was their protest that they got the same. So we should
also unite and should give hand in hand to fulfillment our rights so that
violation of our rights can be stopped. He said that today Muhmmad Bin
Qasim can be born and truthfulness of Abdul Qadir Jilani can be
repeated if we have the mother like Hazrat Fatime and Hazarta Ayesha.
He said that women are being tortured in our male dominated society through different
ways and acid throw is one among the shameful acts. He encouraged the women that
Government of Pakistan as well as private sectors have taken many steps for the
protection of women as Protection of Women(Criminal Laws Amendment) Act, 2006
and The Protection of women against Sexual Harassment at the Work
Place Act 2010.

Address by Mr. Kashif Imran Khan (Project Manager)

GODH
He after his detailed introduction

congratulated

the participants that

women in male dominated country like Pakistan, have got 33% quota in
PPSCs jobs as well as women are given Seats in Parliament, National and
provincial assemblies. He said that Mohtarama. Benazir Bhutto (Late) was first prime
4

minister and Mrs. Fehmida Mirza is first Speaker of Pakistan all these are good steps
towards the progress of women in society.

Address by Mr. Khashif Aslam (Project Coordinator) GODH

He told the participants that now the world has changed and women
know about their rights. As in dark ages the women have no right of
divorce and if husband died then his wife was being burnt alive. So
Islam has great blessings on us that we can live today with respect,
security and dignity.

Address by Mr. Azmat Ali Shah Advocate Vice president Mianwlai

Bar
First, He introduced himself and shared with the audience that if we
are doing well and building up our society then this credit goes to our
mothers, sisters who grew us in sensible and healthy environment and
we are proving our society as a better nation. He added that in every
mans success there is woman who enabled him to get the
accomplishment. He added that you can build a society or can spoil the same because
Napoleon said that give me good mother I give you good nation.so one must
understand ones duties fairly and should fulfill the same with keen dedication so we can
progress as a commanding nation.

Question/Answer Session
Almost all the participants took part in open discussion and shared their experience. Out
of them one important issue was of a woman named Zarina Bibi discussed that her
husband is not living with her and two years earlier he married with another woman.
She further told that since six year he has neither paid maintenance of his two children
(both are male elder is in class 11th and the smaller in class 7th) nor for her so she
wants Khula (Separation from his husband). She requested the ALAC team to assist her
