sponsoredbyDepartmentofElectronicsandInformationTechnology(DeitY),Ministry
ofCommunicationsandInformationTechnology,GovernmentofIndia.Thisprojecthas
a faculty team from EE and CS departments working on problems related to
Communications,SignalProcessing,Computing,MicroelectronicsandVLSIdesign.
The main objective of this project is to develop prototype products leading to
commercializationof convergedcloudcommunication and broadband technologies.
Themaindeliverablesofthisprojectinclude:GenerationofIPRthroughinternational
patent filing, Technology Transfer (ToT) to telecom equipment manufacturers and
chipset vendors, Spinoff startup companies that commercialize the technologies
developedbytheproject.
Specifically,thefollowingprototypeproductswillbedeveloped:
Converged cloud radio access network (CCRAN) prototype product. This
productenablesconvergencebetweenmultipleradioaccessnetwork(RAN)
technologies.Specifically,weenableconvergencebetween cloud basednext
generationcellularandnoncellularnetworks.Theprototypeproductsupports
machinetomachine (M2M) communication as well as InternetofThings
(IoT) that are implemented using a combination of cellular, WLAN and
ZigBeestandards
Cloud radio access network (CRAN) base station (BS) prototype product
basedonnextgeneration5Gcellularsystems.
Integrated M2M/IoT chipsets based on next generation cellular and
WiFi/ZigBeestandardsthatactsasgatewaystothecloudnetwork
The proposed prototype products will be tested using lab/filed trails before
deliveringthemtotelecommanufacturersandchipsetvendors.

Thepatentsgeneratedintheprojectwillbeinsertedintheglobalwirelessstandards
through participation in 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) as well as
IndianTelecomStandardsOrganizations.
Theprojectwouldspinoffstartupcompaniesthatwillcommercializetheprototype
productsaswellastheIPRgeneratedintheproject.

Emoluments:
ProjectAssociate:BasicqualificationisM.Techdegree.Salaryrange:18,00035,000.
ProjectAssistant:BasicqualificationisB.Techdegree.Salaryrange:12,00030,000.
