LAKE TITICACA
Lake Titicaca is a water body located in the Collao plateau in the Central Andes at an average
altitude of 3812msnm between the territories of Bolivia and Peru. It has an area of 8562km of
which 56% (4772km) correspond to Peru and 44% (3790km) to Bolivia and 1125km of coastline;
its maximum depth is estimated at 281m and the average depth is estimated at 107m. Your level is

altitud promedio de 3812msnm entre los territorios de Bolivia y Per. Posee un rea de 8562km de
los cuales el 56% (4772km) corresponden a Per y el 44% (3790km) a Bolivia y 1125km de costa;
su profundidad mxima se estima en 281m y se calcula su profundidad media en 107m. Su nivel es
irregular y aumenta durante el verano austral.
Est formado por dos cuerpos de agua separados por el estrecho de Tiquina; el ms grande situado
al norte es denominado lago Mayor o Chucuito tiene una superficie de 6450km, estando en esta
parte su mayor profundidad (283m), cerca de la isla Soto. El otro cuerpo ms pequeo llamado
Menor o Huiamarca situado al sur tiene una superficie de 2112km, con una profundidad mxima
de 45metros.
El lago Titicaca se encuentra entre las cordilleras andinas en una cuenca de alrededor de 58 000
km.
Es el lago navegable ms alto del mundo y ocupa el lugar 19 del mundo por superficie.
