Feedback and Comments
What s a "Guild Charter" anyways?
A set of "Guidelines" not hard fast rules that a group of likeminded people "The
Guild" try to use to illustrate common beliefs and areas of concern that need some
description/definition to enhance the experience of its members in the world of EQ2.
It is a living document that will undergo changes from time to time.

Why do we need a Guild Charter?

• To add a sense of direction and purpose to a group of people.
• To allow for a place to have our common ideas recorded and make them easy
to reference and share as needed (I.e. to new people).
• To reduce misconceptions and misinformation about guild activities.
• To help set expectations
• To be a reason to review our guild and its members and purpose from time to
time.

Who/What is Winds of Demise?

We are a collection of mature PEOPLE that play EQ2 with different backgrounds,
personalities and goals/objects that have chosen to come together under a single
banner to form a digital community devoted to improving the gaming experience of
each member and to share our successes and failures in conquering our goals in the
EQ2 world.

In game terms: We are a casual raiding guild made up of mature players that enjoy
the opportunity to experience all that EQ2 has to offer. We are crafters, casual
players, raiders, collectors, fashionistas and very other facet of
EQ2/persons/classes. We have a fantastic level 80 tier 3 guild hall with all of the
amenities to call home situated on Antonica docks.

Conduct
All WoD members shall strictly adhere to the conduct concepts in action and
speech, both visible and audible, at all times. Those concepts include, but are not
limited to, the following:

Conduct Concept 1: Kindness

WoD will not tolerate unkindness in the form of foul language (out of context),
racism, sexism and so on. Be kind and treat others the way you wish to be treated.
As much as this is a digital experience, imagine that you are right in front of the
person when dealing with them. If something upsets you say so. This is your right
and your obligation to point it out the issue. If as a last resort a dispute cannot be
settled seek a leader out for help (see "dispute resolution" below).

Conduct Concept 2: Common Sense (The Golden Rule)

When all else fails and the rules are not clear or a situation is not clear.... then
common sense should be your guide. This simple tool is the fall back on all things
and is expected to be present in all endeavours and action being undertaken by
WoD members.

Conduct Concept 3: Fairness

Part two of kindness is "Fairness". Treat you digital co-habitant with fairness when
dealing with them. It will come back to you in droves if you are fair and kind. Those
that abuse fairness will not be tolerated.

Conduct Concept 4: Leadership

Leadership is a two way street. The intention is that WoD will have "leaders" but is a
guild of people that can get things done without being always told what to do.
Leadership is each guild members responsibility and is more a state of being than a
title. If you play well and are fair, kind and participate; you are already leading,
forge on.

 If you need something done "Do It!".

Conduct Concept 5: Participation

Come with an open mind and leave the drama at the door. This is a game and is
meant to be fun for all. Your playing is part of each members experience to the
game. Be open minded about what you and your fellow guild members are trying to
accomplish. The game works far better with people working together. Negotiate
what you want one night and then let others get your help another (the old scratch
mine I scratch yours). We all get stronger as members of the guild get stronger and
have new experiences. Play with new people once in a while (I.e. share the wealth
of knowledge and experience).

Conduct Concept 6: No Drama Please

We have a strict no-drama policy. Fun does not include bearing the burden of those
who would complain, or otherwise detract from the pleasure that we experience as
members of this fine company. If you have a suggestion on how WoD might
improve, please share with everyone on the web forum. If you have a suggestion
on how someone might play their role better, share it with them privately, in a
positive way that encourages improvement. If you feel the need to complain about
someone or some group's performance in public, regardless of their membership in
this guild, restrain yourself.
Conduct Concept 7: Equality
Be it known that no matter how powerful your characters are, how well or poorly
equipped, how good you may or may not play the character, how much you raid,
how much plat you have, what race or sex you play and so on; we in WoD are all
equals. This concept reminds us that we are all people being these digital masks
and that is what matters. Each person's measure of success differs. So, don't make
rash comparisons or assumptions based on your definition of in-game success on
other peoples characters.

It is the duty of all officers and leaders to ensure that these concepts are
understood and followed. Officers and leaders will directly address players not
adhering to these concepts.

Dispute Resolution
It is inevitable that conflicts (small and large) will happen when you mix a
completely diverse set of personalities and goals into one "room". We ask that the
following points be considered when sorting out an issue:

• Try to handle the issue with some grace and common sense
• Be respectful of each other
• Be fair
• Try to work it out amongst yourselves in a mature win/win way
• Do not blurt out issues in open chat channels
• Contact an Officer or Leader to assist if needed as an impartial arbitrator
○ Officers/Leaders will invite the parties to talk in a closed chat channel
• Once the issue is resolved "Let it go"
• Try to remember it is only a game and the objective is to have fun.

Recruitment
Recruitment is the process by which all interested parties apply to join the WoD
guild ranks. No recruitment outside of this process will be allowed.

Recruitment Process
Each applicant whether a brand new player, experienced player or reference from
and existing WoD member must be directed to the guild website to fill out the short
application form. Additionally, all "Guild Recruiters" that receive direct tells and
inquiries about the guild must send the applicant to register on the site and apply.

Meetings
There is a need to gather and talk and cheer and generally transfer ideas, concerns
and experiences. The best forum for that is a meeting. Meeting will be held and but
on the WoD event calendar. Topic for discussion and an agenda will be posted many
days in advance. Speak to or mail a Leader or Officer your topic.

General Assembly of the Guild

This is a open meeting for the entire guild and will be used to convey new plans that
affect all guild members. Any major changes will be discussed in this meeting as
well as major changes in roles, ranks etc. All members are encouraged to
participate. The meeting will be held for one hour and happen once a month.

Leader/Officer
Leadership meetings will be held bi-weekly and are considered mandatory for
officers and leaders. Other ranks and guests may be invite as needed. The topics
will be mail out prior to the meeting. This is a meeting with the objective of
addressing issues, suggestion changes and taking stock of the guild in general as
well as bringing to light any SOE driven changes that may affect the guild.

As needed
Additional meeting can be held as needed and membership to them will vary as
required.
Raids
WoD recently determined that it is a "Casual Raiding Guild" that will have a harder
core option for certain players and events. As such, the raid components of guild
operations is broken down into several main topics listed below.

Planned vs. Unplanned

A "Planned Raid" is one that the Raid Leader(s) have scheduled and planned and
have placed on the calendar for the members to sign up for. Currently, it is
expected that WoD will run at least 2 planned raids per week. All players that want
to come to planned raids, are expected to sign up for the raid in advance on the
guild website calendar. Failure to do so may exclude you from coming or looting on
the raid. Priority will be given to those who follow the sign up process.

It is the intention of the Raid Leader(s) to assess what zones need to be run to bring
the greatest benefit to the most members in WoD.

Core vs. Fun

Over the next few weeks WoD will be designing a "minimum" raid spec for "Core"
raid. These zones designated as core will have set requirements in terms of class
make-up and equipments etc. The Raid Leaders will be the only ones to determine
the composition of the raid force. An effort will be made to list expected classes etc
prior to the raid and as part of the calendar item. On occasion, the Raid Leaders
may enlist "out of Guild" assistance to bolster our raid force or to assist in learning
strategies for a zone.

The intent is to be able to farm these zones for the core raid force and then to be
able to invite non-core raiders to join or loot items as well.

Once we have a solid core raid force the guild as a whole will benefit from this
groups efforts and ability to tackle hard zones.

Calendar
WoD supports the use of an "Event Calendar" host on our web site. All "Planned"
raid will be posted at least 1 week prior to raid date. The Raid Leader will provide
detail as to the following items for the raid:

• Zone
• Goal of the raid
• Core or non-core
• Minimum requirements class wise
• Time to start (this is when we are in the zone and clearing the trash)

As WoD grows, the Raid Leader will be using the calendar to organize raid groups. It
is expected that all raiders that want to go are signed up.
Alliances
For time to time WoD may entertain an "Alliance" with other guild in an effort to
bolster each guilds ability to achieve its goals. These alliances will be informal at
first and a trail period used to determine if the alliance will be successful. Once the
trial period is done and a formal alliance is declared, details of this will be posted
upon the WoD website.

Note, that the trail period may include activity that is not announced or common
knowledge.

Specifications/Requirements
For raids designated a "Core" the Raid Leader may ask that members wanting to
raid must meet a minimum raid specification in terms of equipment, spell/combat
art levels and other character details. This is being done to ensure the highest
chance of success for the whole raid and is not meant to be elitist or exclusionary.

One of the prime goals for the leadership of WoD is to assist all willing members to
reach minimum raid specifications for core raids.

Lastly, WoD will have a goal specification for its members ranked "Veering Wind -
Raider". This is to help set targets in terms of growth for our core raiding force.

Minimal Core Raid Specification

Communication
To make raiding effective communication is the key. Hence the use of minimal
communication on the raid chat channel is expected. Questions are fine and should
be asked to the raid leader. The Raid Leader will call out the strategy for zones and
specific Mobs and announce breaks, loot rolls etc. Should you have ideas or
comments please send them to the raid leader via typed messages. Should you
disagree with the raid leader, please refrain from disrupting the raid and bring up
your issues during the debrief. A good Raid Leader will ask for help on a sour raid
section after their strategy has failed a couple of times.

The Raid Leaders will on occasion point out the obvious or comment directly on the
ensuing battle. Do not take this communication personally as it is meant only to
provide situational awareness for the raid.

Lastly, after each raid a chance to debrief will be provided.

Loot
For now, the raid loot system WoD will use is a "need be for greed or Alts" system.
You will be allowed a role or 1-100 on loot that your present character can use, with
the highest role winning the item. This is on Legendary and above items. A limit of 1
Fabled, 1 Legendary, 1 Master Book and 1 Mold is allowed per character per raid.
Items not claim in this manner may be assigned by the Raid Looter/Leader to
characters or alts and/or transmuted.

Special note: WOE Raids will be having loots farmed to all members who sign up
regardless of whether they were selected to go the raid or not. Loot can be rolled on
by any characters that are on-line and in Lavastorm provided they signed up for the
raid. The purpose is to farm T3 mold and fabled loot for the whole guild this way.

Banked Loot
Guild Bank 4 will hold some loot from raids not claimed or kept. If you wish to have
an item in the guild bank 4 please contact a Guild Leader. Typically a charge for the
item may be asked for to support the Guild Bank used for upkeep. In addition, raid
items and devices will be issued by Raid Leader(s) and stored in Guild Bank 4 as
needed.

Rent Runs
The zone "Protectors Realm" or PR when run by WoD is considered a "Rent Run" in
which all monetary based loot will be collected by the Raid Leader and deposited
into the Guild Bank to pay for upkeep. Raiding characters will still get all item drops
and loot other than coin.

Raid Etiquette
As raids are complex and time sensitive there is a list of etiquette items that each
raider should be aware of and comply to. This will ensure that the raid moves along
smoothly and has a high chance of success. The points below are some of the main
raid etiquette items:

• Be early
• Have enough time (typically 2-3 hrs)
• Be prepared *(see below)
• Be clear on the purpose or the raid
• Know your role
• Communicate minimally in Raid chat
• Listen to and support the Raid Leader
• Move with a purpose
• Save your comments and suggestion until the Raid Leader either asks or until
the debrief after the raid
• Have fun, do your best but don't get too upset if the raid does not go as
expected

Raid Preparation*
It is each raiders responsibility to confirm that the following preparation items have
been completed well prior to the start time of the raid. The Event Officer will ensure
that these items have been completed before handing the raid over to the Raid
Leader.
Raid Preparation Checklist
• Sign up for the raid before hand on the Guild Web Site
• Show up early and report to the Event Officer
• Repair your gear
• Have 40+ of each potion (both cures and reprieves)
• Have a repair kit
• Have food and drink for your character
• Make sure your are not in crafting gear etc
• Buff up from the guild hall items (I.e. Pool of Tranquility)
• Buy Symbols and Relics that you might need
• Buy ammo
• Get your Deity miracles and blessings
• Ensure that you have some space in your bags for loot
• Go to the washroom right before the raid starts
• Have a drink/snacks on hand
• If time permits, do some research on the raid zone
• Clear your schedule for 2-3 hrs
• Have fun and be in good spirits

WoD Guild Roles and Responsibilities

The following descriptions are the main "positions", "roles" and their responsibilities
within the Winds of Demise (WoD) EQ2 guild. The objective is to clarify what can be
and is expected by members of these roles and whom is currently holding them.
This is NOT the only responsibilities of leaders nor does this suggest that only
leaders/officers and role holders have responsibilities.

Ranks and Roles:

These are the main roles and positions within WoD. These include ranks on the in-
game roster as well as positions of administration and guild management not shown
on the in-game roster (I.e. Webmaster).

Ranks
Ranks in WoD are listed below. The intent is to have an organizational structure that
supports the needs of the guild members without subjecting them to "I said so"
leadership. Ranks 4 through 8 are used to organize players based on their
experience and their goals/objectives in terms of raiding time and effort from and
time available to the player involved.

• The ranks of Leader and Officer will have set numbers.

• The role of officer will be review from time to time and are not permanent.
• They will be filled based on criteria that exemplifies what WoD stands for (see
"Promotion and Demotion" below)

RANK Suggested Number

1. : Tempest Lord (Guild Leader) 3

This is the highest rank in WoD and meant to signify leadership and guild
management. The guild leaders are the foremost in organizing the guild activities
and assignment of tasks/roles to officers and members as need. The Leaders will act
as arbiters in disputes and have final say on such matters. They will hold the right
to assign loot from guild bank 4 (Raid loot) and to manage the guild finances (I.e.
Rent). All changes in roles, ranks and membership must be approved by a Leader.

2. : Mistral Beholder (Guild Officer) 5+

The Officer rank is held by those who have shown superior leadership skills as
described below (see "What do you look for in an officer"). The role is meant to be
occupied by people willing to sacrifice their own goals for the greater goals of the
guild and its members. The positions are not permanent and will be reviewed by the
Guild Leaders from time to time. Membership is a privilege and not a right. These
roles are meant to be example to the rest of the guild on what we in WoD want to
become. An officer should be aware of the members issues, goals and objectives
and help to organized them. They are masters of their class and knowledgeable of
the game \and its mechanics. They are teachers and guides to the membership.
Bottom line there are the go to people of the Guild and "get it done". Lastly, they
act in support of the charter and the Guild Leaders.

3. : Gale Enforcer (Officer Alt) N/A

A parking place for guild officers to have their alt characters.

4. : Veering Wind (Raider) N/A Goal is at least 24

members

The core group of guild members that work closely with the raid leader(s) to
improve the effectiveness and outcome of all WoD raid activities. These players
have agreed to spend time, effort and resources to better their raid abilities and will
assist in building the other members of WoD up. The Raid Leader(s) and Guild
Leaders will identify these players and tag their characters that are raid ready as
such.

5. : Soaring Wind (Casual Raider) N/A Goal is at least 24

members

A ranking for players that wish to raid frequently but are less committed for
whatever reason to committing time and resources to becoming a serious raider.
These character will round out "Core" raid forces as needed and are a key
component to the success of WoD raids.
6. : Wind Pioneer (Casual) N/A

A rank for the casual player that may or may not participate in raids as will as
crafters and support characters.

7. : Lesser Breeze (Alts) N/A

A parking place for all non-leader alts and raider non-raid ready characters.

8. : Neophyte (Recruits) No more than 30% of total

members

All new players to WoD must start out as recruits. The minimal trial person is 30
days before consideration on what type of rank the player should hold must pass.

Roles
Below are a listing of support roles that WoD requires to function effectively and
enhance or guild and the experience of each member. The Guild Leaders will assign
these roles as needed and new ones will be disused at meetings as required. These
roles are not dependent on rank to hold one. However, recruits shall not be able to
hold a role.

Webmaster/Webmistress
The one individual in charge of the development and management of the Guild's
offline presence in terms of the WoD website. They will manage content, look and
feel and support the needs of the guild and its members.

Suggested number: 2

Web Admin(s)
These people will support the Webmaster/Webmistress in the day to day operation
of the guild web presence and the tools within. They will be granted specific rights
to enable them to edit an change the website as needed.

Suggested number: 2

Recruitment Officer
In charge of getting the new recruits through an orientation and assessment period.
In addition the Recruitment Officer will review application made to the guild and
host the initial interview. Recommendations on applicants "fit" to WoD will be made
to the Guild Leaders. The Recruitment Leader will co-ordinate recruitment efforts
and plans as well as review gaps in manpower. They will work closely with each
Recruiter and share the above listed task for effectives.
Suggested number: 1

Recruiter
A Recruiter will be the doorway into WoD and the face/voice of WoD to the Eq2
world. They will engage actively to recruit fine new members that meet WoD
standards. They will group with applicants and help asses fit. They will suggest
recruitment activities and needs and work closely with the Recruitment Officer to
ensure the WoD continues to grow but maintains its quality of membership we are
use to and expect. It is a most important role in the guild and not to be taken
lightly.

Suggested number: 2

Raid Leader
The Raid Leader will run the specific "Planned" events and manage the raid through
the zone. The Raid Leader will do or assign the following task and functions and
may or may not ask for support:

• Loot and looting assignment

• Group make-up and class requirements
• Named Mob strategies
• Zone situational awareness and movement/placement
• Communication

Suggested number: 2

Raid Timer/Aid

Event Officer
The Event Officer helps to coordinate all major Planned Guild Events such as raids.
The objective of the Event Officer is to ensure that people are ready to go before
the event is to start. The Evenet Office can also act as support for a Raid Leader as
needed.

Suggested number: 1

Alliance Officer
Coordinates activity and communication between our alliance guilds and members.
The Alliance Officer will assist in the planning and development of co-guild
activities. All communication from and to alliance guilds should come from the
Alliance Officer and/or Guild Leaders.

Suggested number: 1

Guild Manager
The role of "Guild Manager" is to ensure that the Guild Hall is in order, rent paid and
the placement of guild hall decorations are appropriate for the season and do not
cause issues in game play. All decor and guild hall based changes must flow
through the Guild Manager and be approved as final by a Guild Leader.

In addition the Guild Manager will ensure that the guild banks are in order and not
cluttered with junk, non-rare items.

Suggested number: 1

Promotion and Demotion

Why are officers and leaders needed as well as specific roles?

As the guild grows and more people have needs and wants from the game
experience, a few people that have the ability to organize and work with others are
required to create a sense of order and purpose. Without "leaders" the guild would
not have a common voice or a group of people that can be completely relied upon
to act in the best interests of the guild members.

What does an Officer or Leader do?

The following are a few of the main tasks and responsibilities that officers and
leaders should be taking care of for the guild either directly or through organizing
the efforts of others. The list includes but is not limited to:

• Introducing new people to experienced players and groups.

• Helping organize and lead events, raids, groups and tasks for guild members
• Being a source of information
• Being a guide and mentor
• Boosting moral and cheering on the successes of the guild
• Donating time and resources (Plat, Status and Materials) to the sustainment
of the guild on a donation basis
• Resolving issues as needed
• Engaging other groups, guilds and players to help WoD achieve goals
• Empowering others to become better players and guild members
• Transferring knowledge

What do you look for in an Officer?

There are certain common traits to all good leaders. WoD officers and leaders
should possess as many of them as possible to be effective. Consideration of people
currently in and potentially new leader/officer roles will include the following
desirable traits.

• Knowledge of the game, classes, strategies, zones etc

• Online/Offline presence (Plays regularly)
• Selflessness and a willingness to help others
• Calm demeanour
• Connections and contacts
• Creativity
• Motivational

There are many more things that make up a good officer and role model. One
questions to keep in mind at the end of every game session ask "Did I as a
Leader/Officer improve the gaming experience of my guild members today?"

How do "you" decide to promote people?

The leaders/Officers will meet from time to time to consider the current officer roles,
who is in them and if the guild requires any new ones. But the best advice is to play
like an leader and help others and you will get noticed. Also, suggest to a
leader/officer that you might be willing to take on more responsibility. There is no
set hard checklist of how to become an officer. It is by merit and continuous service
to the greater good of the guild.

Are the roles and ranks permanent?

NO
The roles will change over time as needed.
Sometimes life gets in the way of our passion/hobby and people should step down
for a time.
Also, as the guild grows and defines itself more, new opportunities will arise.

What do the different "non-leadership" roles mean?

Please go read the basic description under each role/rank.

Why would I get demoted? and what does it mean?

Firstly, do not take a demotion or removal of a role as a personal attack. Changes
will be made and will be done for the greater good of the guild and its members.
Notification of the change will be made by a Guild Leader where possible. These
decisions will not be done lightly and will require a majority agreement amongst
leaders/officers for most topics. Leaders do reserve the right to make changes
however.

Some of the common reasons for a demotion or role change are as follows:

• Lack of in-game presence (I.e. have not logged on in weeks)

• Disruptive behaviour in the rank/role
• Lacklustre performance in the rank/role
• Burnt out
• Need for change to align with new goals or needs

It does not mean you are a bad person or player.

It also, does not exclude you from applying for other roles or offices in the guild.
Lastly, you may be able to earn the honour of holding a leadership rank or role
again.

Guild Bank
The Guild Bank is designed to support the following functions:

• Guild Bank 1 - Transfer of items to other characters and storage of small

items like collection parts and rare Lore parts
• Guild Bank 2 - Storage for rarer items and trade skill goods that other
characters may need
• Guild Bank 3 - Consumable storage and sales - the guild offers food, drink
potions and repair kits to members at discounted prices
• Guild Bank 4 - Raid Loot storage - The guild will keep higher level fabled
items and master spells/combat arts as well as specific raid items (Levi pots
etc) in this bank. If you need and item here it is at the discretion of the
Leaders

Any rank of member can contribute items to the guild bank and/or make monetary
donations to the guild treasury. These donations are NOT personal funds of the
leaders and officers and are used to pay the substantial rent, buy new guild
amenities and fund guild activities.

 Please do not use the guild bank for dumping off common items and loot.

Changes
Change is inevitable in all things. And as WoD grows and matures and new people
come and some go we will have to be flexible and change with these events. Hence,
this document will get updated on a regular basis to keep tabs on those changes.

Major changes to either guild policy, ranks/roles or personal will be discussed at the
planned officer meetings.

Occasional surveys or votes will be posted for the guild to have a voice in changes.

Notification of major changes will occur from the guild leader(s) to the guild via in
game mail and be posted on the members section of the website.

Every effort will be made to keep guild members informed of events, changes and
happening. But, please do not get upset if a topic gets missed or decision not
broadcast.
Feedback and Comments
We encourage you as members to provide feedback and comments or concerns to a
Guild Leader. We take you seriously and will consider anything brought forward with
care and confidence.
