3.7 Testing Antenna

To guarantee the installation quality of the antenna and feeder system, test the
antenna as follows before the installation.
1)

Unpack a new antenna.

2)

Examine the antenna for any visible damage, crack or connector problem.
If any: do not use it any more and contact the personnel concerned immediately.
Go to step 1)
If no problem: go to next step.

3)

Connect the antenna with jumper.

4)

Test the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) of the antenna using a radio
analyzer in different orientations.
If the VSWR is higher than 1.5 in all orientations: there may be problems with
the antenna or its connectors. Go to step 5).
If the VSWR is higher than 1.5 just in some orientations: it is not definite that
the antenna has problems. Install the antenna and test its VSWR, if it is still high
than 1.5, replace the antenna.
If the VSWR is lower than 1.5: the antenna is normal and ready for installation.

5)

Examine the connectors or replace the antenna and go to step 3).

3.8 Testing TTA

Caution:
During the test, make sure that the port not being tested is connected with a 50 matched terminal load.
If not, error of the test result may be great.

3-4

Installation Manual Antenna and Feeder System Installation

WCDMA NodeB

Chapter 3 Installation Preparations

To guarantee the installation quality of the antenna and feeder system, test the feeder
equipment as follows before the installation.
1)

Unpack a new TTA.

2)

Examine the TTA for any obvious damage.

3)

Test the VSWR on both ports.

If the test result is much different from the corresponding specification:
the TTA is abnormal, replace the TTA and go to step 1).
If the test result meets the specification: the TTA is normal and ready for
installation.

Note:
In above test, the equipment is not alive. If possible, you can also power on the TTA and test its current.
If the TTA current is within the range of 50-175 mA, the VSWR is considered normal.

3.9 Adding Feeder Connector

It needs to add connectors to the outdoor feeders on the installation site before
installing feeders. For the safe cause, it is recommended to add the connectors on
ground.
There are two types of connectors: 7/16 DIN and N. The adding methods for the two
types are the same. Add the feeder connectors as follows:
1)

Add the feeder connector follow the instruction in the manual in the packing box
to.

2)

Wrap the connectors up using soft materials such as sponge for protection
purpose before hoisting them, as shown in Figure 3-1.

4.11.1 Cutting Feeders and Attaching Temporary Labels

Cut the feeders prior to the hoisting or after they are hoisted and fixed in position. In
the latter case, reserve sufficient length for the feeders when they are being fixed in
position.
The procedure of cutting the feeder is as follows:

Caution:
When cutting the feeder, do not bend it and prevent it from being rolled or stepped on by vehicles or
pedestrians.

1)

Determine the length of the feeders required in each sector according to the
engineering design drawings.
4-36

2)

Cut the feeder based on the determined length, and take a slack of 1~2 m.

3)

Attach corresponding temporary labels to both ends and the middle of the
feeders after cutting.

Note:
For information about feeder label, refer to Appendix B Engineering Labels for Antenna and Feeder
System.
The content of the temporary label is the same as that of the formal engineering label. Remove the
temporary labels before binding (attaching) the formal ones.

4.11.2 Hoisting and Fixing Feeders

Caution:
Be careful during the hoisting. No violent hoisting is allowed to avoid damage to the feeder skin.

The procedure of hoisting and fixing the feeders is as follows:

1)

Wrap the feeder end in a piece of gunny cloth (or antistatic bag) after the
corresponding connector is completed. Bind the cloth up using a rope or binding
tape.

2)

Knot the lifting rope round the feeder at the point 0.4 m from the end and tie
another knot at the point 4.4 m from the feeder end to prepare for the hoisting, as
shown in Figure 4-39.

4.11.5 Laying and Fixing Feeders

I. Layout Principles
Abide by the following principles when laying and fixing feeders:
The minimum bending radius of the feeder is 20 times longer than the feeder
diameter.
Feeders should not cross each other when running along the cabling rack or
down the tower. Especially lay the feeders from the antenna to the place where
they are led into the equipment room in good order.
Lay the feeders from top to bottom, and be sure to put the feeders in order and
fix them with fixing clips while laying the feeders.
Mount the feeder fixing clips every 2 m or so along the tower or the cabling rack.
Based on the actual requirements, select the 1-for-3, 1-for-2 or 1-for-1fixing clip,
as respectively shown in Figure 4-46, Figure 4-47 and Figure 4-48.

II. Laying and Fixing Sequence

The procedure of laying and fixing the feeders is as follows:
1)

Design the feeder arrangement and lead-in plan based on the sector
requirements in the engineering design document.

Note:
Normally, arrange the feeders in the same sector in one column or row. Keep the arrangement
sequences of the feeders in each column or row is kept consistent with each other.

2)

Arrange the feeders according to the designed sequence.

3)

Fix the feeders onto the tower or the cabling rack while arranging them neatly.
Meanwhile, mount the feeder grounding clips and replace the temporary labels
with formal metal labels.
Note:

Bind a metallic label to a feeder using a black cable tie at the following points:
The point 200 mm away from the lower connector under the outdoor antenna.
The point 200~300 mm down the tower platform.
The point 200 mm away from the outside of the feeder window.
The bent.
When binding labels to the feeders, make sure all labels are neatly laid out. All labels and cable ties
should face the same direction. Leave a slack of 5~10 mm when cutting the cable ties.

III. Waterproof and EncapSulation Treatment to Connectors

Make waterproof and encapsulation treatment to connectors in the following cases:
When a connector is not completely made in one day or a completed connector
will not be used soon, the connector should go through simple waterproof
treatment.
When the installation of the antenna and feeder system cannot be completed in
one day, the outdoor connectors or exposed ends of feeders should go through
simple waterproof treatment. All the outdoor connectors should go through the
waterproof and capsulation treatment after the installation and the test of the
antenna and feeder system.

4.11.6 Grounding Feeders

I. Installation Locations of Feeder Grounding Clips
The feeder grounding clips is installed simultaneously with the feeder layout. Usually,
each feeder is grounded at three points.
When antennas are installed on the tower, each feeder is grounded at:
The point of the feeder within 1 m from the feeder connector
The point of the feeder at the bottom of the tower
The point of the feeder outside the feeder window in which the feeder is led (as
close to the window as possible).
When antennas are installed on the rooftop, each feeder is grounded at:
The point of the feeder within 1 m from the feeder connector.
At the place where the feeder is to be led down from the rooftop.
At the point of the feeder outside the feeder window in which the feeder is led (as
close to the window as possible).
However, when the length of a feeder is more than 60 m, feeder grounding clips is
applied along the feeder. Usually, the grounding clips are mounted every 20 m. In
addition, if the feeder is laid on the rooftop prior to entering into the equipment room
and the length to be laid on the rooftop exceeds 20 m, a feeder grounding clip is
applied on the rooftop.
Figure 4-52 and Figure 4-53 are the illustrations for feeder grounding.

"4.14 Waterproof Treatment for Outdoor Connectors".

6)

Connect the grounding cable of the grounding clip to the grounding part of the
cabling rack securely.

Note:
When laying the feeders along the tower, if there are grounding points for the grounding clips on the
tower body, connect the grounding cable of the grounding clip directly to the steel plate of the tower,
as shown in Figure 4-56.
If there is no grounding point on the tower body, use the base of the feeder fixing clip to connect the
grounding cables. In this case, fix the base onto the tower or the outdoor cabling rack and then
connect the grounding cable to the base.
When laying the feeders on the outdoor cabling rack, connect the grounding cables to the wellgrounded cabling rack.

Caution:
Remove the antirust paint around the grounding part of the cabling rack prior to the connection and
apply a new coat of antirust paint around the lug, nut and cabling racks after the connection. In addition,
wrap the bare wire and the lug handle with insulating tape.

Generally, the feeder window installed in the NodeB equipment room is of 12-hole
type. Therefore, this section only describes how to lead the feeders into the
equipment room through the 12-hole feeder window. As for the 27-hole feeder window,
take this section for reference.

4.12.1 Feeder Arrangement Principles

Abide by the following principles when leading the feeders into the equipment room:
There are 4 large openings in a 12-hole feeder window. Each opening is divided
into 3 holes, each for one feeder.
Lay the feeders through the three small holes of the same opening according to
the numbers in their engineering labels.
Lay the feeders in the way that facilitates future expansion, because the feeder
layout in the feeder window is not allowed to be changed during expansion.
Lay the feeder in the feeder window in the way that facilitates the feeder layout
on the cabling rack and the connection between the feeders and the cabinet top.
Lay and connect the feeders in parallel without intertwining.
The feeder layout of BTS3812 is the same as that of BTS3806. See Figure 4-59 and
Figure 4-60 for details.

4.12.2 Procedure to Lead Feeders into Equipment Room

The procedure of leading feeders into the equipment room is as follows:

4-55

Installation Manual Antenna and Feeder System Installation

WCDMA NodeB

Chapter 4
Installing NodeB Antenna and Feeder System

Caution:
When leading feeders into the equipment room, it is suggested that someone helps with the feeder
leading in the room lest the feeders damage the indoor equipment.
When the feeder window and the indoor cabling racks are not in the same horizontal, bend the
feeders in a natural manner, and the minimum bending radius of the feeder is 20 times longer than
the feeder diameter or even longer.

1)

Lead each feeder into the equipment room through the feeder window.

2)

Make the waterproof curves of the feeders outside the feeder window.

3)

Mount the sealing gasket and sleeve for the feeder window. Make sure the glueadding holes in the sealing sleeve face upward.

4)

Cut feeders to the accurate length based on the design requirements.

5)

Make the indoor feeder connectors.

6)

Attach the label at the point 200mm away from the connector.

4.12.3 Installing Indoor Jumpers

Note:
This step is needed only for BTS3812 and BTS3806. For BTS3806A, skip this subsection.

The connectors of the indoor jumpers (1/2) are usually made on site.

I. Installation Requirements for Jumpers

Observe the following requirements when installing the indoor jumpers:
Lay the jumpers between the cabinet top and the cabling rack in parallel.
To route the jumpers through the cabling rack to the upper part of the cabling
rack, route them inside the rack.
Bend the jumpers in a natural manner and the bending radius is 20 times longer
than the jumper diameter.
Lay the jumpers between the cabinet top and the cabling rack with proper
tightness.
Bind the jumpers onto all crossbars of the cabling rack. Bind the cable ties in the
same direction and cut them smoothly without sharp ends.
Label all indoor jumpers. Attach the labels at the places 100 mm away from both
ends of a jumper.

4.13 Testing NodeB Antenna and Feeder System

Measure the antenna and feeder VSWR on the jumpers on the cabinet top using a
radio analyzer.
Normally, the antenna VSWR is less than 1.5 (including when there is TTA in the
system). However, the VSWR of the N-type male connector on the jumper (1/4)
between the antenna and feeder system and the NodeB duplexer output port is less
than 1.3 (The corresponding return loss is 18 dB). If the VSWR is greater than 1.5, it
indicates there are problems in the antenna and feeder system. In this case,
measure the VSWR hop by hop or measure the return loss of the entire system to
locate the problems.

4.14 Waterproofing Outdoor Connectors

Right after installing and testing the antenna and feeder system, apply waterproof
and encapsulation treatment to outdoor connectors. The outdoor connectors include
those between the jumpers and TTA and those between jumpers and feeders.
There are two types of waterproof tape: waterproof insulation tape and PVC tape, as
shown in Figure 4-64 and Figure 4-65.

Figure 4-64 Waterproof insulation tape

Figure 4-65 PVC tape

4-62

Installation Manual Antenna and Feeder System Installation

WCDMA NodeB

Chapter 4
Installing NodeB Antenna and Feeder System

Note:
When wrapping up a connector, wrap it up with a layer of insulation tape before wrapping it with the
semi conductive adhesive tape for the convenience of removing the adhesive tape.

The procedure of waterproof and encapsulation treatment is as follows:

1)

Clean the feeder connectors or feeder grounding clamp.

2)

Stick the end of the waterproof insulation tape to the feeder at the point 2050mm from the connector or grounding clamp.

3)

Stretch the tape until it is 3/4~1/2 as wide as its original shape. Wrap up the
feeder spirally upward while maintaining this stretching strength. Make sure
that the overlapping area of adjacent tape layers is 1/2 of the stretched width,
as shown in Figure 4-66.

Caution:
Make sure that the stretched width is at least 1/2 of the original width. Otherwise, over-stretching may
damage the molecular structure of the tape and reduce its reliability

Figure 4-66 Wrapping up the feeder with waterproof insulation tape

4)

When wrapping the feeder to the point 20-50mm from another connector or
grounding clamp, reverse the direction to let the wrapping goes back towards
the starting point. When it reaches the starting point, reverse the direction one
more time. In this way, the feeder is wrapped up with three layers of waterproof
insulation tape.

5)

After wrapping, squeeze the tape until it sticks to the feeder to make sure no air
remains between tape layers.
4-63

6)

Chapter 4
Installing NodeB Antenna and Feeder System

When the wrapping of the waterproof insulation tape is done, wrap the feeder
up with PVC tapes to prevent the wearing out and aging of the waterproof
insulation tape.

7)

The wrapping of PVC tape is similar to that of waterproof insulation tape. Start
wrapping spirally upward with 1/2 width of overlapping between adjacent layers.
Reserve the wrapping direction twice to make three-layer cover. Be sure to
maintain the stretching strength. Figure 4-67 shows the feeder with waterproof
and encapsulation treatment.

Figure 4-67 Feeder with waterproof and encapsulation treatment

4.15 Waterproofing Feeder Window

Right after installing and testing the antenna and feeder system, apply waterproof
and encapsulation treatment to the feeder window.
The procedure of waterproof treatment for feeder window is as follows:
1)

Put the two semicircle sealing sleeves around the outside of the big holes in the
feeder window.

2)

Put the two steel hoops in the two grooves of the sealing sleeves, and tighten
the screws on the hoop using a screwdriver.

3)

Inject the glass cement to the gap around the feeder window.

4)

Plug the holes unused with special stoppers.

Figure 4-68 shows the feeder window that has gone through the waterproof
treatment.

Figure 4-68 The feeder window going through the waterproof treatment
If the feeder is to led into the equipment room through a glass window, apply
waterproof treatment as follows:
1)

Remove the glass, and cut an opening of a proper size round the corner of the
glass.

2)

Protect the cutting position using the rubber or adhesive tape. Wrap the feeder
to be led through the opening with the adhesive tape lest that the opening edge
scratch the feeder.

3)

Lead in the feeder through the glass window.

4)

Make the waterproof treatment by sealing the interface between the feeder and
the glass using the glass cement.

Installing GPS Antenna and Feeder System

Install the antenna away from the radiation from the front of the main lobe of the
mobile communication antenna.
Do not install the antenna under the microwave signal from microwave antenna,
the high voltage cable or under the intense radiation of television tower.
For lightning protection purpose, install the antenna in the center of the rooftop.
Be sure not to install the antenna at the corner of the rooftop, because the corner
is most possibly subject to the lightning strike.
Install the antenna in the place with special lightning rods or similar facilities
around such as telecommunication towers.
Locate the antenna within the effective protection range of the lightning rod. That
is, the included angle between the vertical direction and the straight line between
the GPS antenna and the top of lightning rod is less than 30. If there is no tower
or lightning rod around, it is necessary to install such a facility meeting the
lightning protection requirement.
The horizontal distance from the lightning rod to the antenna is within 2~3m.
The height of the lightning rod is more than 0.5m higher than that of GPS
antenna receiving end.

5.3 Installing Antenna Support

5.3.1 Installation Methods and Requirements
There are three installation methods for GPS antenna supports:
Installing GPS antenna supports on a cement base
Installing GPS antenna supports on a parapet on the rooftop
Installing GPS antenna supports on a tower.
The requirements for the three installation methods are as follows:

I. Requirements for the Installation on a Cement Base

The dimension (length width height) of the cement base is 500 mm 500
mm 200 mm.
The cement base is made of concrete and reinforcing steel bars. It is strong
enough for mounting expansion bolts.
The upper surface of the cement base is as level as possible so that the antenna
support pole can stand upright.
If the customer permits and the roof has reliable waterproof capability, roughen
the installation position on the rooftop to fortify the joint between the cement
base and the rooftop.
Take the ambient temperature into consideration when making the base.
Especially in cold areas, prepare the cement base beforehand lest that the

Installing GPS Antenna and Feeder System

project is prolonged due to the cold weather in which the construction is not
allowed.

II. Requirements for the Installation on a Parapet

The location and surroundings of the parapet should meet the requirements
specified in 5.2 Positioning GPS Antenna
Do not affect the appearance of the building when installing the antenna support
on the parapet. Therefore, build the parapet in an unnoticeable place.
The parapet is strong and high enough for drilling to mount the expansion bolts.

III. Requirements for the Installation on a Tower

Install the GPS antenna at the bottom of the tower to keep it as far as possible
from the high-power antenna on the tower top.
Fix the antenna using the antenna support to avoid the interference from the
tower body.
There is no obstacle around affecting the quality of signal receiving.

II. Installing the Antenna Support on a Parapet

The procedure of installing the antenna support on a parapet is as follows.
1)

Remove the base of the support if there is any.

2)

Stand the pole of the antenna support with the receiving end pointing upward.
Hold the pole upright against the parapet.

3)

Mark the positions of the holes on the parapet.

4)

Use at least two anchor ears to fix the pole to ensure stability and reliability. The
distance between the two anchor ears is less than 400 mm. The positions of the
upper and lower anchor ears are symmetrical on the parapet.

Note:
Add rubber washers when using the anchor ears to fix the antenna pole to improve reliability.

5)

Use the &12 drill bit to drill holes on the marks.

After installation, try shaking and turning the pole to confirm the reliability of the
installation. Check that the included angle between the pole and the upright direction
is less than 5 to ensure that the antenna supports upright.

5.4 Installing GPS Antenna

5.4.2 Installation Procedure

The procedure of installing the UNONCORE GPS antenna is as follows:
1)

Remove the bolt at the bottom of the antenna and apply the rubber washer (an
accessory of the antenna) to the bottom.

2)

Insert the antenna into the position "M3" in Figure 5-4.

3)

Add the metal flat washer (an accessory of the antenna) to the jumper connector
at the bottom of the antenna with the washer head against the bottom of "M3".

4)

Connect the antenna and jumper and tighten up the connector.

5)

Tighten the four bolts to fix the GPS antenna on the antenna support.

6)

Waterproof the connecting points of the antenna. For details, refer to 4.14
Waterproofing Outdoor Connectors.

7)

Paint the antenna support with rustproof paint, especially the bolts, expansion
bolts and the places around the bolt holes.

5.4.3 Binding Jumpers

Bind the jumpers to the antenna support pole using cable ties. Observe the following
rules when binding jumpers:
Fasten the cable ties in the same direction of the cable with their spacing as 200
mm.
When cutting the extra end of a cable tie, leave a slack of 3~5 mm lest the cable
ties fall off due to temperature change.
The cutting sections are flat.

5.5 Installing Feeders

5.5.1 Laying out Feeders
Before feeder layout, check the environment including the tower and the rooftop, and
determine the layout plan and layout procedure as per the engineer drawing.

Caution:
When the distance from the antenna to the NodeB is greater than 100 m, use the 7/8 feeder to reduce
the signal loss. Otherwise, use the 1/2 feeders.

Observe the following requirements when laying out the feeders:

5-7

Installation Manual Antenna and Feeder System Installation

WCDMA NodeB

Chapter 5
Installing GPS Antenna and Feeder System

The feeder route from the tower to the equipment room where the cabinet is
located is clear and easy for fixing the feeders.
Route the feeder according to the cabling requirements of the equipment room,
with reliable rainproof and anticorrosive measures.
Make a downward waterproof curve for the feeder before leading it into the
equipment room. The vertical distance between the lowest point of the curve and
the feeder entrance is at least 200mm to prevent rain water.
During feeder layout, protect the unused feeder connectors with reliable material,
for example, board package.
To install the antenna on a building rooftop, fix the feeder with plastic clips
attached with steel nails along the foot of the wall on the rooftop. The spacing of
the clips is 1m. Alternate regularly the directions of the clip head. If two feeders
meet, bind them without intertwining and curves.
When routing the feeder, make sure to uncoil the cable coil first to prevent
bending the feeder. If you have to bend the feeder, the curve radius must be no
less than the minimum radius allowed.

5.5.2 Grounding Feeders

Ground the GPS feeders when routing them. The following describes feeder
grounding in different installation modes.

I. GPS Antenna Installed on a Tower

Observe the following requirements to ground the GPS feeders when the GPS
antenna is installed on a tower:
Install a grounding clip within 1m around the antenna lightning arrester, and
connect the grounding cable to the tower.
Ground the feeder at the bottom of the tower 0.5~1m above the turn where the
feeder is routed from the cabling rack to the tower.
Install a grounding clip outside the feeder window (as close as possible).
Connect its grounding cable to the outdoor grounding bar of the equipment room.
If the feeder on the tower is longer than 60m, install lightning protection clips in
the middle part of the tower, with the clip spacing as 20 m.

II. GPS Antenna Installed on a Rooftop

Observe the following requirements to ground the GPS feeders when the GPS
antenna is installed on a rooftop:
To install the GPS antenna on the rooftop independently, install a grounding clip
before the feeder entrance to the feeder window (at the nearest point). Connect
the grounding cable to the outdoor PGND bar of the equipment room.

5-8

Installation Manual Antenna and Feeder System Installation

WCDMA NodeB

Chapter 5

If the feeder is longer than 60 m, install lightning protection clips in the middle
part of the feeder, with the clip spacing as 20 m.

5.5.3 Leading Feeders into Equipment Room

Note:
This step is needed only for indoor NodeB. For outdoor NodeB, skip this section for BTS3806A.

Lead the feeders into equipment room through feeder window. For details, refer to
4.12.2 Procedure to Lead Feeders into Equipment Room.

5.6 Installing Lightning Arrester

The lightning arrester protects the GPS satellite card in the cabinet.
Currently there are two types of lightning arresters: iS-MR50LNZ+6 and
DGXZ+6NFNM-A. The installation procedures for each type are described below.

Caution:
When the distance from the antenna to the NodeB is longer than 100 m, use the 7/8 feeders to reduce
the signal loss. In this case, connect one end of the lightning arrester to the GPS port on the cabinet top,
and the other end to the 7/8 feeder through a jumper.

Pay attention to the following when installing a DGXZ+6NFNM-A lightning arrester:
The two connectors of DGXZ+6NFNM-A lightning arrester are respectively male
and female. Connected the male connector of the lightning arrester to the port
GPS_0 or GPS_1 on the cabinet top.
Do not ground the lightning arrester.

5.7 Testing Feeders

After the installation of the antennas and feeders, do not connect them with the
equipment immediately. Check the resistance with a multimeter between the feeder
screen layer and the core. The resistance is several megohms at least. If there is
short circuit, check whether the feeder is damaged.
During the installation, any operation error may lead to short circuit or core breaking.
Use the following methods to check whether the core is broken.
Remove the antenna, and then short-circuit screen layer and the core at one end of
the antenna. Check the resistance at the other end between the screen layer and the
core. If the resistance is infinite, the feeder core is broken.

The grounding bar is isolated from the wall. The grounding cable is as short
as possible.

The outdoor grounding bar is connected to the underground grounding net

through a reliable special route.

The glue-adding holes in the sealing gland of the feeder encapsulation

window face upward. The plates of the encapsulation window are installed
indoor (not applicable for the new feeder encapsulation window).

The feeder encapsulation window installed on the building top is sealed

carefully and securely.

The installation locations of the antennas are in compliance with the design
document.

The antenna lies within the protection coverage of the lightning rod (a
deviation of 30 downward from the top of the lightning rod).

The antenna stand is securely installed on the tower or on the rooftop.

The top of the antenna sheathing is as high as or slightly higher than the
stand top.

The omnidirectional antennas stand upright with the error (if any) less than
!2.

The distance of the antenna extending outside the tower platform is no less
than 2m.

For the omnidirectional antenna installed on the building top, the horizontal
distance between the antenna and the antenna lightning rod is no less than
2.5m.

The antenna isolation is required to be 30 dB for both Tx-Tx and Tx-Rx

antennas.

When two antennas are installed horizontally, the Tx-Tx/Tx-Rx antenna

horizontal spacing is no less than 5m.

10

When two antennas are installed vertically, the vertical spacing between TxTx and Tx-Rx antennas are no less than 0.2m.

11

According to the diversity Rx requirement of the omnidirectional antenna, the

Rx-Rx antenna horizontal spacing is no less than 4m.

12

Omnidirectional Rx and Tx antennas can either share one antenna stand or

be installed separately, depending on the project design drawing.

13

The error of the azimuth angle is no more than !5 and that of the pitch angle
no more than !0.5.

14

The antennas are free from any interference of the tower structure in the
forward direction. The distance of the antenna extending outside the tower
platform is no less than 1m.

19

When installing the directional antenna, the interval between the space
diversity receptions of two Rx antennas is no less than 4m.

All jumper connectors undergo the waterproof treatment. Waterproof curves

are made for the jumpers.

Jumpers connected to the antennas are bound through the crossbars of the
antenna stand onto the steel frame of the tower.

A certain allowance is left at the cutting of the binding tapes.

The bending radius of a jumper is no less than 20 times longer than the
jumper diameter.

The TTA is installed near the antenna.

For the TTA with connectors on different sides, the connector to the antenna
is extended upward and that to the feeder downward. For the TTA with
connectors on the same side, both connectors are extended downward.

6.3 Checking Antenna and Feeder System of GPS

Most of the check items and the check requirements of GPS antenna and feed
system are the same as those of the antenna and feed system of NodeB. Table 6-2
only lists the different check items, for other items like checking feeders, checking
jumpers, checking lightning protection clips and so on, refer to Table 6-1.

When the GPS antennas are not installed on the same tower as the NodeB
antennas, or GPS antennas are installed on the rooftop, the grounding
requirements for GPS feeders are different from those for NodeB feeders.
That is the GPS feeders only need to be grounded to the outdoor grounding
bar at the entrance where they are led into the equipment room. In addition, if
the length of a feeder exceeds 60m, the middle part of the feeder is grounded
by using lightning protection clips with an interval of 20 m.

The outdoor and indoor lightning arresters are not grounded.

If the indoor lightning arrester is of the iS-MR50LNZ+6 type, the

PROTECTED end of the lightning arrester is connected to the GPS
connectors on the top of the NodeB cabinet through a duplex conversion
connector.

If the indoor lightning arresters are of the DGXZ+6NFNM-A type, the

PROTECTED end of the lightning arresters is connected to the GPS
connector on the top of the NodeB cabinet directly.
