When I first received the assignment, everything seemed so blur and hazy.
But as the lectures and classroom discussions went on, I could recall some of the
things Ive learnt earlier. I would say that some of Madam Usharanis questions and
lesson really make me think and relate well with my teaching.
From the day, the task was given, I also had trouble deciding where to seek
the sources of my part and how they could be put together. I kept on searching for
the sources and information as much as possible. Then I went through a few
meetings and discussion with friends. Luckily, after discussed with my team
members, and reviewed on side, I knew that what I needed to do. Here I realized
collaboration was necessary at certain times during this distance learning class, just
as it is in the workplace.
Teachers and students often come from seemingly dissimilar backgrounds
because of their racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, and intellectual differences.
Thus, students bring unique needs to the classroom. In order for teachers to connect
with and engage students, I realized that I must construct pedagogical practices in
ways that are culturally relevant, racially affirming, and socially meaningful for my
students.
Through completing this assignment, I too realized that teacher needs to
understand that racially diverse students frequently bring cultural capital to the
classroom that is often times drastically different from mainstream norms and
worldviews. Most importantly, I learnt that effective teacher treats all students the
same, regardless of their culture, socioeconomic status, or special needs. They
continuously express their confidence in students ability to succeed.
I hoped that the knowledge gained by me will enlighten me and give me a
better understanding of how my students learned. I also decide to try using some
other adaptations in teaching which will be effective for my students learning in
classes adapted to their needs. Thus, I would also like to thank Pn Usaharani for the
interesting slides and discussion we had during the lectures.

Reflection
This assignment given by my lecturer Pn Usharani on our second tutorial .I have to
do two task

. Task 1 is write an essays about Bajau ethnics .Second task is do a

scrapbook.This assignment it allowed me to gain re-evaluation of myself. It showed

my strengths and weakness. I can learn more on learning about certain etnics in
Malaysia.With the knowledge I have gained from the assignment I can use it in my
classroom. By doing this assignment I can get more experience and more
knowledge about the Bajau ethnics ..We have dealt with many ways to find the
correct source, create our own ideas based on the source we have been searching
for.We have to go the library nearest in our town to get an information. We have to
scheduled our timetable well and find time to do the assignment.
By doing this task after so many years has allowed me to re-assess myself as a
student and as a learner. I do realize now that I need to improve on my study skills
that are a bit rusty and sharpen my time management skills as well. Revisiting and
searching within myself on my ideal style of learning has helped me identify that I
learn best in quite surroundings. Some of the things that help me learn best are
writing things down, taking notes while reading, the most important things is I have to
serve on internet all the time .By doing this in group my group give me a good cooperation. Identifying and learn more about other ethnics is good knowledge for me
as a teacher that I can use the knowledge in the future.Before this we have know
idea about theBajau history,taboo and socio cultural .Every day that passes there is
many opportunities for growth all around us. The outcome will must definitely be very
exciting, enriching and rewarding for me in the long run.

REFLECTION
During the course of the work task Culture and Learning, I have received
many useful and good benefits for me as a teacher. After making many references to
and discussions with friends, I began to know and understand in depth about the
aspect of history , customary code, traditional taboos, belief and culture of bajau
community from birth until death.
At first, upon receiving this assignment, we are quite confused about the
requirements of the question. We are very concerned and challenged to complete
this task because there is little prior knowledge. However, these odds do not alter
our commitment to trying to work the best, start by searching for relevant records via
the internet and we also went to the State Resource Centre to gather information for
our coursework. We have obtained this knowledge can help us in carrying out quality
work.
In addition, through the process of completing this course work assignments
that I run with friends has made the relations between us became very close.
Tolerance and cooperation of lecturers and all their friends can also increase through
the process of completing this course work assignments. I started to become more
familiar with the attitude and personality and the way friends and lecturers teaching
this at once strengthen our bilateral relations.
Furthermore, to interact with lecturer and friends for this task allows me to
improve and enhance the way I communicate. It is thus able to train me to
communicate well and to prepare to become a professional teacher. In addition, the
guidance given by the lecturers in the process of completing this course work
assignments allow me to improve on the weaknesses are in me and will not be
repeated again in the future.
Overall, the assignments has provided many benefits to me and made me to
love this noble profession and further increase my passion to become a professional
teacher that will be able to produce a balanced human capital and willingness to
sacrifice for the religion and the nation.

REFLECTION
EDU 3106 Culture and Learning coursework forced me to select and study
one of the ethnic groups in Malaysia. The coursework is to be done in a group of four
members. After my friends and I had browsed a few options, we agreed to study
about Bajaus people. However, it was not an easy task to come out with an
agreement between us. Tolerance and in the spirit of team work, we solved our
differences. I went to the library in my town to get the information about the said
people but books about Bajaus are not easy to be found. Among the four us we had
several books as references. Most of the information about Bajaus, I had it from the
internet.
My prior knowledge about Bajaus is very limited. I only knew that this ethnic is
from Sabah and the people are good horse riders. They were dubbed as Cowboys
of the East for their highly skilled horsemanship. As I was browsing for the
information about this ethnic, I gain more understanding about them especially about
their belief and culture. This is because I was specifically in charge of the topic. Now,
I knew that most of them are Muslim. Once regarded as sea gypsies because of their
ways in the past, many have settled down to a more sedentary life of rice farming
and

cattle

breeding.

As a teacher I learn that live in Malaysia, there are many cultural diversities,
so I have to broaden my perspective toward pupils background and status. Although
I only teach pupils of the same race as mine, I still need to get to know their ways of
life to be able to apply the knowledge I gained for their own benefits.

What
project
have
you
been
working
on?
The project of assignment 1 was talk about the information needs of an organization.
In this report, I analyzed which information system and information resource affect
on Viet Gaming Company. In addition, to help reader more understand about
information system, the report also pointed out information flow and information map.
2.
What
have
I
learnt
after
doing
the
project?
Actually, I practiced to recognize information map and information flow on VietDics
presentation. Therefore, I did this assignment easily. However, I faced some problem
when point out issues of the company. I did not realize what is the main problem,
which lead to others sub problem. Therefore, I just listed it. As a result, when I went
to solution part, I had to repeat many duplicate solutions. This cause leaded to
confusing in my report. To solve this problem, I decided to change my way. In the
issue part, I should group problems, which has same solution. Therefore, in the
solution
part,
I
did
not
need
to
repeat
same
solution.
That is the lesson I learnt when finish assignment 1. I think that grouping same
problem and give main solution for those problems could be the good method to less
confusing in the report.

In conclusion, I learnt many things when studying about Wiki such as self-study and
how I can arrange mix information. I hope that I will have a opportunity try to apply in
the real life.
Reflection on assignment 3
Assignment 3 was report about environment scan around our choice company - AAA
assurance Corporation. Each member chooses company aspect and introduce
overall about this aspect. In our team, there were four aspects, which is mentions
such as local partners & strategies, IT based technologies to improve IM and KM,
news articles related to AAA company and insurance industry, and companys
competitors. My topic was searching information about some of AAAs competitors.
In addition, I had to identify strengths and weakness of each.

What
have
I
learnt
after
doing
the
project?
Actually, this was the first time I searched on insurance industry. I knew nothing
about it. In addition, there was a lot of information, which made me confuse.
However, through this assignment I learnt many things around insurance industry.
Firstly, based on my research, I realized that there are two kind of insurance, which
are non life insurance and life insurance. In Vietnam, almost of non life insurance
companies is domestic, which include 19 companies, and 7 companies, which have
capital
from
foreigner
such
as
AIG.
Secondly, Bao Viet is the biggest insurance company in Vietnam. It is also the
unique domestic company runs both two fields non life insurance and life
insurance. In addition, it also runs on others many different aspects such as
reinsurance, financial investment, fund management, securities business, banking,
and
real
estate.
Finally, in spite of the Vietnamese market is opening, there still exist some limit for
company, which is invested by foreigner. For example, according to current law,
companies, which are invested by foreigner, only invest on bond.
Besides many things around insurance industry, which is learnt in this assignment, I
also recognized that there are many different searching tools to support my project.
For example, I can use FACTIVA to find articles, which talk about my company and
other insurances. In addition, I also used Gigablast, IX Quick, which are same as
Google, to find information
My first lesson was the important role of organization culture. In fact, if the
organization performs well, the information and knowledge process could share
smoothly. In addition, I learnt new term, which was about gatekeeper and expert. In
fact, in the first time, when I read assignments requirement, I brainstormed that
gatekeeper mean that security in the company, and expert was someone, who was
understand deeply only his task. However, I was wrong. In fact, gatekeeper was
someone who can know what is going on and who is doing what within the company.
Besides, expert was person, who could answer question in a particular area even
thought
it
is
not
his
part.
Moreover, I had opportunity to understand some IT technologies to improve IM and

KM. In fact, I learnt about Microsoft Office Share Point server 2007, which helps
people search more effectively. In addition, I also knew Cognos 8 BI, which is useful
tool to extract and analyze data in multiple dimensions and then preparing the
report.
It
is
interesting.
Finally, I was introduced generally about potential partner in AAA. In addition, some
benefit also pointed out to help me more understand which advantage the AAA can
get when they corporate with others companies.
o prepare for assignment 1, I was asked to do and present about VinaDisc
Company. In the first time, I was very confused about how I could do present, what
information needs I had to show. In addition, the term Information Audit made me
ambiguity. I just knew that the company need audit through manual reports but it is
hard to me to image that how we can audit some thing like information.
Luckily, after discuss with my team members, and reviewed on side, I knew that
what I needed to do. My part presented about information map and information flow.
After review on slide, I knew that in the information map, I must identify information
resource in the particular department, where it comes from, who use this resource,
what is format of resource, and who is responsible for the resource. From above
requirements,
I
could
compete
VinaDicss
information
map
easily.
Besides, I also learnt how I drew information flow within the company. In addition, I
knew that depending on different organization, it could have different structures and
process. Therefore, this cause leads to different in information flow. Moreover, I
thought that, I should draw information flow as simple as possible. Because it would
make reader confuse if we add many information within the map. It could be lead to
misunderstand about the flow of information in the organization.
In conclusion, VinaDicss presentation helped me more understand about
Information audit within in the organization. In addition, I think that depending on it, I
could apply to do my assignment 1.
Virtual classroom
I practiced sharing information on virtual classroom. I think that it is not good forum
for
knowledge
sharing
with
three
reasons.
Firstly, it is waste time to type. In fact, in the Information class, I had a lot of good
information around share and share alike article to share for my members.
However, the time was limit. In addition, almost my members typed slowly.
Therefore, I did not have enough time to discuss all of information.
Moreover, when I pressed enter to send the message, I could not delete it when
giving
wrong
information.
Finally, it was hard to record the information. In fact, when we finished our discuss, I
did not know how to record the information, I just closed the window and I thought
that I saved already. However, it did not. I very confused and I thought that all of my
valuable information disappeared. Luckily, my members still kept it, and she copies it

for me. I thought that what if the network disconnects, all of our information would
disappear. Therefore, virtual classroom is not good tool to keep information when
discussing on it.

The objective of this assignment was to observe an early childhood education Pre K
3rd grade classroom and complete a classroom literacy environment checklist.
Using the checklist I was to complete a written observation report that included
suggestions for improving the literacy environment.
The most crucial element I took away from this assignment is the importance of an
environment rich in print and writing materials for promoting literacy skills. A literacy
rich environment emphasizes the importance of speaking, reading, and writing in the
learning of all students. That is why as a future educator I will make sure to provide
my students with a literacy enriched environment.
