Instructions for use

! Durability is improved as lower permeability concrete

made using Conplast WP20 has increased resistance to

water penetration. Therefore reducing the ingress of
aggressive agents such as chlorides and sulphates
! Improved cohesion minimizes the risk of segregation and
bleed. Resulting in easier placing.
! Chloride free Safe for use in reinforced concrete.

Compatibility
Conplast WP20 is compatible with other Fosroc admixtures in
the same concrete mix. All admixtures should be added to the
concrete separately and must not be mixed together prior to
addition. The performance of concrete containing more than
one admixture should be assessed by trial mixes.

Standard compliance
Conplast WP20 complies with ASTM C494 as Type A.
Description
Conplast WP20 is a chloride free waterproofing admixture
based on selected modified lignosulphonates It is supplied as
a brown solution which instantly disperses in water
ConpIast WP20 reduces the permeability of concrete by
acting as a water-reducing admixture allowing lower
water/cement ratios to be achieved.
Technical Support
Fosroc provides a technical advisory service for on-site
assistance and advice on mix design. admixture selection,
evaluation trials and dispensing equipment.
Dosage
The normal dosage of Conplast WP20 is 0.5 litre/100 kg of
cementitious material including PFA GGBFS and microsilica.
For added performance the dosage can be increased to 0.8
litres/100 kg of cementitious material
Use at other dosages
Dosages outside the normal ranges quoted above can be
used if necessary and suitable to meet particular mix
requirements. Compliance with requirements must be
assessed through trial mixes. Contact Fosroc for advice in
these cases.

Conplast WP20 is suitable for use with all types of ordinary

Portland cements and cement replacement materials such as
PFA, GGBFS and microsilica
Waterproof concrete
Waterproof concrete is the result of good concrete practice.
The concrete should be able to achieve full compaction with the
lowest water/cement ratio possible.
The normal specification for quality concrete is minimum
3
cement content 350 kg/rn and maximum water/cement ratio
0.45.
Dispensing
The correct quantity of Conplast WP20 should be measured by
means of a recommended dispenser. The admixture should
then be added to the concrete with the mixing water to obtain
the best results. Contact Fosroc for advice regarding suitable
equipment and its installation.
Effects of overdosing
An overdose of double the intended amount of Conplast WP20
will result in an increase in retardation as compared to that
normally obtained at the intended dosage Provided that
adequate curing is maintained, the ultimate strength of the
concrete will not be impaired by increased retardation and will
generally be increased.

The effects of overdosing will be further increased if

sulphate resisting cement or cement replacement
materials are used. Over dosage may also cause
increased air entrainment, which will tend to reduce
strength. The degree of this effect will depend on the
particular mix design and overdose level.
Relationship between permeability and

Precautions
Health and safety
Conplast WP20 should not be swallowed or allowed to
come into contact with skin and eyes.
Suitable protective gloves and goggles should be worn
Splashes on the skin should be removed with water in
case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of
water and seek medical advice. It swallowed seek medical
attention immediately - do not induce vomiting.

Cleaning and disposal

Estimating - packaging
Conplast WP20 is available in drum or bulk supply.
For larger users storage tanks can be supplied.
Storage
Conplast WP20 has a minimum shelf life of 12
months provided the temperature is kept within the
range of 2oC to 50oC should the temperature of the
product fall outside this range then contact Fosroc
for advice.

Spillages of Conplast WP20 should be absorbed onto

sand, earth or vermiculite and transferred to suitable
containers. Remnants should be hosed down with large
quantities at water
The disposal of excess or waste material should be
carried out in accordance with local legislation under the
guidance of the local waste regulatory authority.
