Release 12, enhanced Multi-Org functionality for shared service environments

where a single office manages several business units.

2.
Multi-Org Access Control is a key feature that allows the user to associate a
single responsibility with multiple operating units.
3.
Multi-Org Security Profile Preferences provides each user greater control over
how he accesses his list of operating units. (Prior to Release 12, each application
responsibility could access only one operating unit. Therefore, users who had to
manage multiple operating units had to log in and log out of multiple
responsibilities to perform their tasks). If MO: Security Profile is assigned, then
the profile option MO: Operating Unit is ignored by the system.
4.
Setup: Define Security Profile & Assign Operating Units.
Run Security Maintenance.
Assign Security Profile to Responsibility or User.
5.
In R12, the Multiple Reporting Currencies (MRC) feature is enhanced with a
feature called Reporting Currencies. R12 now support multiple currency
representations of data from any source, including external systems, Oracle or
non-Oracle subledgers, and Oracle General Ledger journals and balances.
6.
Have you ever wanted to report and view balances that were entered in your
ledger currency separate from those balances that were entered and converted to
the ledger currency? In R12, balances entered in the ledger currency are
maintained separately from balances converted to the ledger currency for use in
Reporting and Analysis.
7.
Foreign currency support has also been extended to recurring journals. You can
now enter foreign currency recurring journals.
8.
Simultaneous Opening and Closing of Periods for Multiple Ledgers.
9.
The main profile options which need to be set after creating responsibilities are: MO: Security Profile or MO: Operating Unit. (If MO: Security profile is assigned,
then, MO: Operating Unit is ignored by the system).
GL: Ledger Name
MO: Default Operating Unit. (Optional).

14.

Ledger sets are assigned to Data Access Set. This is assigned as profile option to
different responsibilities.
If you want to assign a Legal Entity to Ledger, then we need to assign Balancing
segment value (BSV) to Legal Entity and this legal entity needs to be assinged to
Ledger. We can even add balancing segment values to ledgers, which can be used
for non-legal entity transactions.
Once you define a Business Group, it will automatically created as a Security
Profile. You can find this Security Profile screen. If you are creating a new
security profile, then, after creating the security profile, please run Security List
Maintenance program.
SLAM is optional in both Primary Ledger and Secondary Ledger.
For one Primary Ledger, there can be multiple Legal Entities.

15.

16.

17.

One Legal Entity can be assigned only to one Primary Ledger. As Secondary
Ledgers are assigned to Primary Ledgers, there is no need to assign Legal entity
and Operating units separately. (Infact, there is no option to assign).
Defination Access Sets are assigned to different Responsibilties in GL Module
itself. (There is no separate Profile Option).
All business groups can be viewed from all HR responsibilities. All the operating
units defined under a particular business group can be viewed from only those
responsibilties which has this Business group set as HR: Business group profile
value.

Implementation: 1. First create sysadmin, HRMS and Application developer responsibilities and then
create the KFFs in sysadmin responsibiltiy.
2. Then, Create different responsibilities under Sysadmin responsibility and then
assign them to user.
3. Create the locations under HRMS responsibility
4. Under HRMS Responsibility: Create Business Group. Then, assign this business group to all the
responsibilties including HRMS responsibility and then create the
organisations (Operating units, Inventory Organizations etc) under that
responsibility.

5. You associate a business group with a responsibility via the HR: Business Group
system profile option.
FA: 1. The new screens/forms are: Under Inquiry: Inquiry Subledger Accounting Accounting Events
Inquiry Subledger Accounting Journal Entires
Inquiry Subledger Accounting Journal Entiry Lines
Under Mass Additions: Mass AdditionsAdditions Integrator
Under Depreciation: Depreciation Calculate Deferred Depreciation
Depreciaiton Rollback Depreciation is removed. Please check this again.
Under Tax: Tax Calculate Deferred Depreciation
Tax Mass Depreciation Adjsutment

Under Physical Inventory: Physical Inventory Integrator.

Under Setup: Setup Financials Subledger Accounting
Setup Financials General Ledger Accounting Manager
Setup Integrator
Other Change Organization
Create Accounting
New Changes: 1. Now when you run the program Create Accounting-Assets (Equivalent to
Create Journal entries in 11i), there is a new parameter Process Category (i.e
Journal categories like Additions, Adjustments, Depreciation, Retirements
etc). So, now we can transfer the data to GL of only a specified Journal
Category.
2. Rollback depreciation is no longer available in R12. Earlier in 11i, if we want to
make any changes after depreciation is run (without closing the period), then we
need to rollback depreciation. But now it is not necessary. After making the
changes, running the depreciation again is sufficient.
3.

GL: 1. Now there are six Flexfield Qualifiers.

(Balancing Segment, Cost Centre, Natural Account, Intercompany, Management
Segment and Secondary Tracking Segment).
Customers will also be able to define a management segment; a segment that is
meanful to their business for management purposes, for example the line of
business segment. They will be able to specify which management segment
values are valid for each ledger.
2. The set of books form in R11 is replaced with Accounting setup flow from in
R12. This consists of :This consists of the follow steps:
1. Choose Legal Entities
2. Select Ledger to store legal entity accounting
a. Assign Balancing Segment Values (for each Legal
Entity).
b. Determine Subledger Accounting Options

c. Determine Additional Ledger Currency

Representations. (Reporting currencies).
3. 3. Select additional Ledgers to store additional accounting
representations.
3. Journal Import, Opening/Closing the periods can be done for Multiple Ledgers.
4. You can open group of periods at a time. For ex: - if the current period is say Feb-07.
Just give the target period as Dec-07, then all the periods upto Dec-07 will be openedd.
5. in 11i, in order to run translation for the first period, it was not possible unless and until
you define and open the previous period. But in R12, it is possible to run translation even
for the first period of Ledger.
6. While defining Ledgers, Define 4Cs, Reporting currency (if any), Assign BSVs and
then click on complete button, then go to Organization screen from HR resp, then create
operating unit there (While creating OU, assign the PL, Legal Entity). Then, come back
to Ledger defintion screen, then go to Operating unit option, and then you will be able to
see the Operating unit define there.
7. As soon as you create a PL or SL, a data access set is created automatically by the
system in the name of concerned PL or SL.
8. The General Ledger Access Set security mechanism (i.e. GL: Data Access profile
option) is always applied for responsibilities associated with the General Ledger
application. It is having significance in some cases. Ex:- In the case of AP, when
running the create accounting program, the first parameter is Ledger. This LOV shows all
the ledgers which are assigned to all the operating units to which I am accessible
(depending upon MO: Security profile) plus all the ledgers in the GL: Data Access Set.

MOAC: Mandatory Profile options in R12: 1. GL: Ledger Name for Subledgers like AP, AR, PO, INV etc.
2. GL: Data Access Set for GL. (In GL, this is the mandatory profile option. There is
no significance of GL: Ledger Name profile option for GL).
3. MO: Security Profile. Optionally set MO: Default Operating Unit. (Once, the
MO: Security Profile is set, then, MO:Operating Unit is ignored). (MO:Default
Operating Unit in 11i is reserved for future releases (i.e. R12 as per Metalink
note: 211431.1)
4. MO:Operating Unit. (If you do not want to have Multiple Operating Units, then
ignore MO: Security Profile and set only this profile option).
5.
Optional: 1. HR: User Type This profile must be set for all responsibilities that use tables
from Oracle Human Resources (for example, responsibilities used to define
employees and organizations).

AP: 1.New Retainage account in Financial Options.(Under Accounting Tab)

2. Two tabs under Financial Options:- Supplier Entry, Supplier Payables(The fields
available here are:-Payment Terms, Payment Method, Receipt Acceptance Days,Always

3. Under Tax Tab, the fields Default Tax Code, Default Recovery rate, Calculation Rule
(Rounding Rule, Precision, Min Accountable Unit) are removed.
4.Under Encumbrance Tab, Encumbrance Type field is removed.
5. Now Choose set of books form is no longer available in AP and AR.
6. There is a new screen for Payables System setup.
7. When running Create Accounting, there is only parameter End date. There is no
From date parameter.
