Would you like condensed milk or honey on your bread?
Winnie the Pooh: Both! But never mind the bread, please.

Sandaband: Pumpable at extremely high solid content

Solid continuous phase, Liquid dispersed phase Non segregating
The wide particle size distribution makes Sandaband impermeable

Density: 2.15 g/cc (17.9 ppg)

Non-hazardous to health & environment

Sandaband: Solid or liquid, depending on shear stress

Wellbores may be subjected to
shear stress for various reasons:
Subsidence/Compaction
Fault/Earth quake
Temperature fluctuation
Vibration

Norsok D-010/Oil and Gas UK:

Permanent well barriers
A permanent well barrier should have the following
properties:
a) Impermeable
b) Long term integrity.
c) Non shrinking.
d) Ductile (non brittle) able to withstand
mechanical loads/impact.
e) Resistance to different chemicals/ substances (H2S,
CO2 and hydrocarbons).
f) Wetting, to ensure bonding to steel.

Field Examples

Temporary OH Suspension - HPHT

Operator: Statoil
Field: Kristin, Well: 6406/2-S-3HT3. Reservoir conditions: 915 bar, 175 degC
Suspension:
Temporarily suspended with Sandaband in January 2004 to wait for completion
equipment. Sandaband placed in the reservoir section from 4917 to 5150 mMD
in 35 deviation.
Removal:
Sandaband was completely removed in February 2006 with open ended drill pipe.
Sandaband plug was washed out under controlled sink rate saving several rig days
due to no need for milling operations.
No reservoir damage:
The well was completed successfully and is the best producer in the Kristin Field.
