SAFETY DATA SHEET

1 - IDENTIFICATION OF THE PREPARATION AND OF THE COMPANY
IDENTIFICATION OF THE PREPARATION

ATTAQUE N1 or ACTIVATOR XC (code 10003)

or

DCF Etching (code: DPR 5070)

USE OF THE PREPARATION

This solution is used at ambient temperature to etch locally with a brush plating tool ferrous metals only being treated
below 120 hbars. It removes impurities, oxides and diverse precipitates from the substrate and creates anchoring points
for future plating.
The specificity of the brush process is it can be applied locally, just where it is necessary, i.e. without immersion of the
part. Thus, only small quantities of solutions are stored or used.

4 - FIRST AID MEASURES

CONTACT WITH SKIN
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash immediately with plenty of water.
CONTACT WITH EYES
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for approximately 15 minutes. In case of pain, redness, local oedema or visual
discomfort, call an ophthalmologist.
INHALATION
Theoretically, not applicable. Under abnormal conditions of use causing considerable inhalation, remove the casualty
from the contaminated area, let him take a rest in a well-ventilated room and seek medical advice.
INGESTION
Dont try to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink. Transfer quickly into hospital.
PROTECTION OF THE FIRST-AIDERS
Wear gloves and glasses and according to the situation: clothes and protective shoes, a mask.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
5 - FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Dry ice, powders.
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA WHICH SHALL NOT BE USED
Water.
SPECIFIC HAZARDS
Prevent any material from entering drains or waterways or soil.
Dangerous thermal decomposition products: fumes containing in particular sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides.
PROTECTION OF THE FIRE-FIGHTERS
Because of the substances produced during thermal decomposition, use approved self-contained breathing equipment
and protective clothing.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Avoid contact with skin and eyes: wear gloves and glasses.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Do not allow the product to be thrown away without neutralization. Recover as much as possible for processing within the
firm or by an approved centre.
METHODS FOR CLEANING UP
With water to remove all non-recoverable product. Before throwing rinsing water, check the pH is between 5.5 and 8.5.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING
Use as supplied. Close containers (in PE) tightly after use with the original cap. Do not re-use containers with another
product.
STORAGE
Store in a room on a spill-retaining vat away from alkaline or reducing products and metals. Keep in original containers
only, between 5 and 30C if possible away from direct sun-light. The maximum recommended shelf life is three years
from the date of manufacture under normal conditions of storage.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
EXPOSURE CONTROLS
TECHNICAL MEASURES
No drinking, eating or smoking on the workplace.
Maintain the premises and the workplace in a perfect state of cleanliness and clean them frequently.
As the product is used at ambient temperature during a short time, the values below are generally not reached. They
depend on the treatment time, the surface area treated and on the quality of the workshop air extraction.

PERSONAL PROTECTION
Provide a shower, a powerful tap and sink unit and an eye basin near the workplace.
Respiratory protection: during brush electrolysis, provide as far as possible an inhaling of the sprays / vapours where
they are created and extraction out of the premises. Or work in a ventilated room and wear if necessary a filtering
FFP3 mask (EN 149:2001 standard).
Hand protection: wear gloves (in latex, nitrile, neoprene or PVC).
Eye protection: wear glasses with lateral protections or a facial screen. Do not wear contact lenses.
Skin protection: wear overalls and safety boots.

No data are available regarding the preparation. The evaluation of health hazards has been realised thanks to
directives 67/548/EC, 1999/45/EC and bibliographical data.
SKIN
May become irritating. The effect depends on the applied quantity and on the length of contact. May also cause the
appearance of recurring eczemas on some sensitive people because of the presence of quaternary ammonium salts.
EYE MUCOSA
May become irritating. The effect depends on the applied quantity and on the length of contact.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
May be irritating if the electrolysis is performed with a bad inhaling of the sprays over the workplace.
IN CASE OF INGESTION
This solution is little concentrated but has a pH lower than 1.
Pains and vomiting are possible as well as burns.
OCCUPATIONAL DISEASES: table 65 (in FRANCE).
________________________________________________________________________________________________
